ONCE HUMAN RELEASE NEW SINGLE “SLEDGEHAMMER”
Once Human have released their new song “Sledgehammer” as well as an accompanying video. A first hint to a new album which will be scheduled for 2020. Well, more of a statement than a hint, as Logan Mader explains:
“Sledgehammer smashes from start to finish. With insane riffs, relentless drumming and Lauren Hart just kills it! Vocally showcasing totally new and powerful cleans in the massive chorus hook, it marks a new chapter in Once Human sound. I had tons of fun producing and mixing this track. Utilizing more analog gear than I normally do it’s really explosive. Our last album sounds good but this one actually smokes it.”
Having made waves with their 2015 debut, “The Life I Remember”, the band has dramatically progressed beyond the melodic death metal sound of that release into something more complex, emotional, distinct, and devastatingly heavy. Evolution was not just the title of Once Human’s sophomore release two years ago it was an armor-plated declaration. And it evolved into something big. The video for their lead-off single “Eye Of Chaos” by now gathered more than 8.7 million views on CZcams alone. The new single “Sledgehammer” is testament to the fact that this evolution never stopped and Once Human keep surprising us with new elements. Stay tuned for what is to come in 2020.

@@valerieblackthorn13 Why? Music is subjective, personal preference...and for many others (in general) you have a bad taste too. Same is for me. You also said the girl here looks like she likes pop music instead of being really heavy metal (something like that). Many metal musicians (also the ones in more extreme metal...Behemoth for example) like different types of music...trip hop, rap, electronic,even pop...I see no problems but you.

The Fear Factory and Mnemic influences can strongly be felt here, which are exactly the kind of sonic mass I long for. Amazing!

@@MG-ld1kh I get what you mean, like, it actually took me a few plays to fully appreciate her new way of singing. But I think she might still be experimenting. Also, her "cleaner" vocals sound better on "Phantom Divine" and "I Am War". It's just refreshing to hear more clean vocals from someone who rarely utilizes clean vocals (and I am biased because I really admire Lauren 😊).
Her cleans here oddly remind me of Layne Stanley from Alice in Chains. Something about the powerful yet nasly fry and layering. It doesn't have that emotional quality to it but it's cool to hear something like that again after all these years.

When I heard their last album I was like “yeah, they have mad potential.” I believe that potential is being reached. Because, I can’t wait for this fucking album to drop. Until then, this song is on repeat.
I love all her vocals. The clean vocals are just a lead-in to the raw and raucous power we've come to know and love from this band. One of my favorites is I Am War just for this reason.

I think I found my new favorite band. Well written songs; there's never a dull moment. Not only is there talent all around, but it's perfectly recorded. I hear everything including the ever so important sub bass frequencies. This point is where so many other bands fail me.

@@MickH60 Yes I have heard lots of their tunes and don't think she blows them away at all, you're obviousley a fan of Jinger I am not though. I found Jingers lyrics hard to figure out from just listening to Tatianna sing/growl where I can understand Lauren, and Alissa very easily just from listening. Not saying Jinger isn't a good band at all I just found them not as appealing music wise and in my opinion don't come close to Arch Enemy in techicality, drums, or guitar, but are as good as this band for sure

I just got into this band about a year ago and I'd like to say I'm one of the true Metal heads that loves her Heavy metal from the heart and that feeling will never falter it just increases to me there's no better music created! In having said all that and to get to my fucking point I think this band is amazing and very unique and if I could compare them and give them honor they remind of Ministry and Corrosion of conformity or maybe Cannibal corpse very hard core with a gutteral sound that tears you apart very badass!!

My favorite female metal vocalist is Tatiana from jinjer. But once human's vocalist reminds me of angela gussow . They almost give me a slightly proggy sounding version of arch enemy, with some singing included.
I haven't listened to a lot of Once Human, not entirely my cup of tea but I like this. I was pleasantly surprised by the more melodic chorus, heavy as it was.
With all the great shit dropping this year, this was the best song to cap off the year and take us to 2020!

She absolutely gorgeous and bet she's doing more cleans because of how great Jinger is doing at the moment there killing it. With the cleans and dirty once human is taking in that influence.
H X3 the agonist were one of first bands that started the clean/growls. I saw them with jinjer in UK few weeks ago, and there the best bands out there. Lauren has great growls and better than Alissa.
Very different, I really like the clean vocals, though I do prefer the cleans off the first album. However it is nice to see Lauren tear shit apart in a new manner. Really excited to hear more material.
