I good idea instead of bags is ice cube trays. You can find them in all kinds of sizes and then once frozen put the cubes in bags. Now you have servings just like you buy at the store.

    Dear Gabe
Today I’ve made your beef heart recipe. I’ve just changed the kind of multivitamins because I didn’t found those that you suggested.
I asked my butcher to clear from fat and ground the meat.
I’ve just a minipimer with a grounder accessory at home but it was enough to smash salmon and spinach and blend all fresh ingredients together.
Finally I added krill and mixed by hand making a great mess. But this is my Christmas present for my discuss and they actually seem to appreciate for it.
Thank you Gabe and Merry Christmas. 🎄 😊

I think if you feed them only one kind of food for very long, then they won’t eat anything else. One day this, one day that. I also throw in some veggies for my Shrimps( that’s another tank) and Snails spread in all tanks. Thank you for sharing! I enjoyed watching!

Hey Gabe: I made my discus food today. My hand-cranked meat grinder didn’t work too well, so I did it all with the food processor. That worked fine. I ended up with two (flattened) gallon zip lock bags rolled out to 1/4” thick. That’s a lot of fish food. Huge savings over the stuff from the pet store. And... my Discus love it! Thanks.

Question for you though, I have bought all kinds of dry food for them already including tetra flake and bits and three different Discus pellets from Sena (I think the company is, was highly reviewed online).
What is the best way to get my new fish to try eating that in the interim so they don't freak out going from what you feed to the dry foods I'll be feeding them?

I've made that for decades...minus the other add ons. I did try mixing in shrimp powder..and the fish would not eat it . I also try to add just enough gelatin to hold it together. I use as least amount of it as I can. If you add very little water ? A blender gets the job done.
Beefheart is close to Tubifex worms as a food..without the disease the worms might have..or as they spoil sometimes if you can't feed them all fast enough.
