It's actually pretty amazing knowing that during the 80s they had some pretty sophisticated animatronics.
Ikr?
Yeah, the most recent ones barely move as much or as fluently as these used to (and still do)
Its so satisfying to see these ones still active on Aaron's channel
And they had more scares than your average R rated horror movie.
Yes ikr
Plus their not the only animatronics in the 80s
I worked at a ShowBiz that had this system, it was amazing to be able to control the character. You would be inside a control room that could see the whole dining room, so you could see what was going on and talk about it. This was way ahead of its time.
Better then chuck e cheese they have both of the characters animatronic and walk around
@@LoxOP Showbiz Pizza also have Walkarounds
@@thenerd1962 yeah I know they also had articulated faces do not think I know about that

I always see more people complaining about the FNAF comments than the actual FNAF comments.
so true.....

Fuck fnaf
Naomi Tidings fuck off
Nice
Even if I'm a kid , I have researched for 2 years of all of the show tapes, commercials , walk around costumes , animatronics , and history altogether. We need showbiz back
5 year old me wouldn't be scared of that
Me to
Preach it
Me too let’s bring em back
Trust me kids, I was there many times in the 80's and the RAE wasn't all that. My hometown Showbiz had the sound cranked too loud and you couldn't even talk without yelling while they were playing.
Is it me or does this make you want to be one of those people who controls the animatrionics.
I know right
That way I wouldn't have to see them.
Pumpkitten I wanna control billy bob
Didn’t they usually program them with the show tapes before shipping them to the restaurants?
not just you....

Yeah these things were pretty creepy lol

This is perfect ASMR material, Billy Bob has a lovely voice and I find him rather calming ♡
SAME! i absolutely love this video.
1980's: show biz with 2090 Technology
2019: chuck e cheese doesn't do shit

It's really incredible how well these robots are programmed!
You know who’s special?

Thank you 😔
That made me smile thank you
Thanks
For some reason, I find the Rock-afire adorable, but I find CEC scary. It has to be the voice acting, just gives so much personality to characters like Billy Bob.
It doesn't help that they just stuck the CEC skins on Rock afire skeletons
For some reason I only like Studio C Chuck E Cheese the rock-afire explosion is amazing
its cus the cec animatronics look bad
Show biz was better than CEC.
The animatronics are creepy, but the animatronics can tell u ur name, talk to you, and unlike chucky, literally interact with you.
Emerald the Pirate fox *Foxys gf* Don't the Showbiz animatronics also have more movements? :)
mollymoon fan Yeah. I went to CEC and they have 2 different movements.
mollymoon fan crazy huh?! 20 years later after chuckee c. Betrayed his friends back at showbiz, he still doesn't even have technology as advanced as them, odd if you think about it.
+The Emerald Princess no! the least movements is 8 and that was made before showbiz
Fluffkin actually these animatronics are alot less creepy than chuckie cheese animatronics IMO and they move better and are better in all aspects by far.
I kinda wish I was born in the 80's so I could see what good animatronic shows were like.
You still can at Disney world. Then again it’s expensive
"The system enhances the illusion that I am a real person! I-I mean bear!"
Shh! Don't let the bears know that! Especially the female ones. That wouldn't be pretty.
Billy Bob Brockali: Sorry about that. I literally meant to say bear.
2:32 *Silent Screaming*
???
I'm getting pretty tired of people comparing show biz to fnaf...
Aaron Fletcher (creator of RAE) already mentioned it himself he loves the idea of fnaf and was going to use it as a opportunity to "show off his dark side"
OMG i know XD
Me too
Im not :(
UnluckyRabbit If anything it's good fnaf got popular, people do research and see the old animatronics from the 80's early 90's and it put's more intrest on show biz pizza. :)
Billy Bob: Hey there son! What’s your name?
Kid: Sammy!
Billy Bob: Can you tell me what your favorite food is?
Sammy: Chuck E. Cheese brand pizza!
Billy Bob: Do you lock your windows at night before you go to bed Sammy?
Sammy: No...
Billy Bob: Good to know!
*HOLY SHIT THIS IS A FNAF 4 REFERENCE!!!!!*
And i used a *JOJO MEME FORMAT*
OMG LMAO
LOL
LOL
Yeah, and then after the show hes told the news of them merging with Pizza Time Theatere...
I really like this feature of where they can interact with people LIVE! That’s pretty cool and makes the experience better, even with the breathing on the mike 🙂
This is awesome that Billy Bob did the speech instead of a boring 50 year old!
At the time that sort of thing was very new. Before then yeah, you typically would meet an actual person who probably doesn't even work the job and gets paid thousands for showing a tutorial video on how to drop fucking KFC fried chicken. This makes it fun and enjoyable for doing your job.
HECK HE COULD EVEN NARRATE A PHONE BOOK AND MAKE IT SOUND INTERESTING
Honey! I’m home!
Hello, Dear! How was work today?
Well, a talking bear taught me how to use an electronic soundboard.

Yeah, I thought so too...

i love vintage animatronics, these are better than crud e. cheese with its trash-ugly robots.
Yeah, they barely even move.
If you see them move a lot its probably a reused Rockafire Explosion animatronic
ikr
buzzcocks jr bruh you are wrong
buzzcocks jr you do know the chuck e chess’s ones are the rock afire explotion but in different cosmedics
@@aki4748 he means the rock afire costumes look better and worked a bit better since Chuck E. Cheese’s changed some of the movements they don’t work as well
Its upsetting to me that stupid kids don't care to learn the story behind these beloved animatronics. They were THE best animatronic band, and were so innovative for many places such as Chuck E. Cheese's animatronics, Disney Land, and other places of the sort. The creative engineer created the Whac-A-Mole, and unfortunately, they had to go out of business around the same time Arcades began to close and places like Blockbuster went bankrupt. It's truly sad how the people worked so hard on these animatronics, and everyone just says "FIVE NIGHTS AT FREDDY'S WAS REAL OMG!!" and don't appreciate how much sheer effort was put into the Rock-afire Explosion band.
We can all appreciate that there was genuine effort put into it. I've always been afraid of the animatronics since I was a child, but I always did appreciate how they were made. FNAF is really big on gaming culture right now, though. People such as myself like to solidify something that scares them in order to help satisfy the feeling of either fear or unsettlement.
Lots of us do appreciate it, and you have to realize that FNAF brought more attention to these opposed to desensitizing them. I think it's rather upsetting that someone would put down so many people who genuinely enjoy these works of art in other ways other than ignoring a mainsteam game. FNAF is a genuinely good game, and people are fans. Fans do research. We actually think these are amazingly done, but relating it to a fandom we like.
It's like saying we can't appreciate dragons because we like 'how to train your dragon'.
*sigh*
roxanne410 Did you even read the comments on this video? They're disrespectful children who have no idea how great these creations were. Fandoms are absolutely stupid, they ruined everything I liked about Five Night's at Freddy's. The gameplay isn't intriguing in any way, it's the story behind it that makes it good. They compare these EXTREMELY innovative creations to an indie video game, that does not nearly have as much time, work, money, and effort put into it. FNaF did NOT actually bring more attention to them, it caused people to be reminded of the indie game "meme" because a popular CZcamsr played it and overreacted to the jumpscares. What gave it more attention was when the actual creative engineer and a dedicated nostalgic fan bought the Rock-afire band, and began to play modern songs on them.
The dragon analogy is absolutely ridiculous, by the way.
Any place I can find this? Or did they replace it with chuck e cheese?
Logan Harris You could purchase a set of the animatronics, but otherwise no, unfortunately they were replaced by CEC.
Damn, it must not be cheap to buy these guys. But its probably worth every penny.
His wave is so cute
Yeah 💗🐻🍕
Hmm. The controls don't actually look so bad to memorize, almost looks like a video game controller lol
I’m getting nostalgia even though I wasn’t even born here but billy Bob is just too darn cute!!!
Billy Bob seems so nervous. His voice cracks a lot.
Good to see that there is still files about how to control these guys, so anyone can see the hard work the operator(s) did to entertain folks back then.
Some one ought to do a voice dub of this with Billy Bob complaining about his restaurant being compared to FNAF.
I can draw that for you. 😊
I wish Show Biz would come back.

I like hearing the voice of Billy Bob getting progressively more bored and irritated while recording
When I was kid, Chuck E Cheese used to be called Showbiz Pizza, and we had Billy Bob instead of chuck e cheese
This is just a Fnaf vhs tape video but irl 💀
I was just about to say the same thing lol
Does anyone else think billy bobs laugh is kinda sweet
I think his laugh is cute and sweet.
I love that laugh though
What more could a big brown one-toothed bear do for children at Showbiz
I am now fully qualified for life. Thank you.
Wow. Though I wasn't even there for said performances, I'm so sorry that this pizzeria was bought out. My favorite was Mitzi, she was good.

Even though I'm a big fan of Fnaf, I get pissed off myself when people compare the rock afire explosion to the game. Like seriously, come on. Fnaf isn't real, just a game (a good one) and the rock afire explosion was for entertainment. And I love the rock afire explosion.
THIS
Eh
+Christina Wallette Yeah, there are people who actuall believe that Fazzbear's Pizzeria is or at least was a real place. When they can't find any real evidence they play the cover-up card. I could say that I saw a bunch of pink elves stealing M&M's and blame lack of evidence on a cover-up.
+Christina Wallette FINALLY someone who gets it!
MrsGrumpySuits Inc. fnaf is the best
Poor animatronics
Little did they know they had a bomb coming their way
this is terrifying to me but his voice is actually kinda cute
Billy Bob Brockali: Aww, you're too kind. 😊
I love Billy Bob he is my favorite out of the five
There's actually 8 animatronics in The Rock afire Explosion. Does anyone around here believe me?!
I'd say that there was more effort being put into the animatronics, than nowadays at Chuck E Cheese.
I got to play with the interactive system at the Charlotte,North Carolina location in the mid 1980s.
Sat in a little booth with a one way glass. Wore the Billy Bob walkaround out a few times too. My brother wore the walk around a lot!
This is the absolute best I've ever seen one of these operating. All the other videos i see of rockafire are showing them basically failing and breaking down
this is bad ass. I saw ole billy bob in the "electric feel" music video by mgmt, and had to look him up. Good to see you old friend
That’s pretty cool to have interactive robots that can communicate with the kids.
I love billy bob

This is fascinating.

GOD I MISS MY DAD WORKING IN SHOWBIZ
I love how there were manual controls to animate them. It looks like so much fun to do. I wish I could do this as a job. Honestly I want Billy Bob to wave at me in person XD.
Well they are controlled by something this is just for interactive stuff
Billy Bob's movement is WAY to real
Creative Engineering really puts effort into making their animatronic's advanced.
Wow this REALLY COOL! Employee training videos are an important part of a growing company.
Still watch these cause I love em
3:21 Meme this frame
I'M ON IT.
Nitronika Does Stuff How’d it go?
Watching this while stoned includes a shocking amount of hilarity and miserableness. No more for me thank you.
I love the fact that resturant animatronics were first meant to be used so that people in costumes wouldn't have to, because of breaks and stuff. but the fact that mostly it's like, "you can control the animatronics" you would have to take breaks, right, therefore undoing the original mean. Oh, wait, that's just for manual usage.
Rabid FNAF fan here. As someone who was born to late to visit Showbiz, that game was really what got me into finding out how they work and the effort put into these antique machines. Sure, the vocal part of the fan base is often nasty, but some of us genuinely appreciate the painstaking work and detail put into these animatronics: which we never would have noticed had it not been for the game. That being said, it’s kinda sad that these restaurants are going extinct and have the bad publicity about murderous animatronics: but I guess Freddy and friends are rekindling the appreciation for robotic entertainment in a good way, too.
Dogs in Minecraft be like: 2:43
🤣
That's such a bad voice for Billy Bob. Good try but they could of got Aaron!
I didn't know he had a different voice! It's still ok to me.
Still sounds nice to me. If you think otherwise, that's ok. :)
TheAnimatronicFollower that's how he sounds like bro :/
CEC Illinois, why did Aaron not like it?
Seth Horst He liked The idea for interactive animatronics, but not the way the Showbiz execs wanted to do it (this way). When he said no to this very idea, they pulled rank and did it anyway with some random voice actor.
I'm here because I love vintage employee training videos.
i can imagine. I loved the rockafire explosion!
I love these animatronics.. I remember them from my childhood and I was always entertained and fascinated by them. I made an animatronic system earlier on in the year that uses an adapted version of the Eliza program (Turing test) and and Xbox kinect module to make it a fully automated system. It is these quirky animatronics that where the inspiration for that project.
I don't mean to add to the whole "Five Nights at Freddy's" ordeal on this video, but honestly without it I wouldn't have gotten into this sort of thing. Animatronics used to scare me when I was younger, but ever since wandering into and learning about RAE and CEC I've been in love with them. When I saw Concept Unification, I remembered how the CEC near me was oddly familiar...so its sad to know that CEC was originally a Showbiz. But then again, such rich history near me makes me excited! I've learned a lot ever since and I'm very intrigued to learn more about these great franchises
This is so fascinating to me
This is fricking awesome!!! I’ve been searching the internet lately for research on how these gifts work, and hopefully start making my own animatronics!
That control panel actually looks really intuitive.
You put your two hands on the circular discs, and it works kind of like a gamepad.
Props to whoever came up with that design. They knew what they were doing.
Reminds me of what VR controllers would later do.
One flaw I can think of, though. Were the employees able to see what they were doing? Because that seems pretty important. I don't think it would be very practical to have someone control the animatronic, and have no reference as to what their movements actually look like.
The only thing I can think of is to use the surveillance cameras for that. If FNaF has taught us anything, it's that these sort of establishments do indeed have a set of cameras to monitor what's going on (night guards are an actual thing too, by the way, it's to prevent the expensive machinery and the like from being stolen). Anything else would be too obvious, and break the illusion. Depends on where exactly the "control booth" is, I guess.
Ive been trying to find out more about the control panel but as far as I can tell the only thing on the internet about it is this video
This is super cool! The controls are so simple, it's amazing. I go to a tech and engineering school and I'm sure that the engineering department would be super interested in this. If not them, robotics club at the very least. Now to find someone who's actually IN engineering [i'm in the creative digital media path myself: they start fires on accident all the time in engineering. fuckers are crazy].
Wow what great memories and a cool channel!!!
He looks cool

Even though I like fnaf, I new about the Rockafire way before it. And I appreciate this stuff for what it is, and I have always been a huge fan of the RAE. And its sad when alot of people compare fnaf with it

Wow I want one of those.
I wish this stuff was still around
i love the wave
I really wish someone (other than chuck e cheese) mad an animatronic band like this, the movement is so fluent and if they were still being made today, they might have actually been able to walk!
This is better than a horror movie!
I wish I could have met these animatronics! They look so cool! My first animatronic band I've ever met was Chuck E Cheese's, unsurprisingly. I was born 1995.
A few years ago i saw this video and this was my first ever time knowing the rock afire explosion
4:46 I can see his bear claws.
9:01 "Cut."
I really like how they designed the Showbiz Pizza animatronics, they look more sophisticated than Chuck E. Cheese's animatronics in comparison, I would have liked to live in the 80s and eat pizza while watching them in their wonderful shows :')
at least Billy Bob is not creepy unlike the Chuck-E-Cheese animatronics
new fnaf vhs tape lookin great
💀
Shut up
this was actually very informative. Such an impossible-looking design is actually made as simple as a game controller.
But I feel like robotics haven't really improved since then.
