On July 31, 2023, Beijing was hit by heavy rainfall for the third consecutive day, causing major damage. The torrential downpour transformed roads into rivers, sweeping away cars and disrupting daily life. The inclement weather prompted authorities to issue the highest alert for flooding and led to the cancellation of dozens of flights, severely affecting transportation services.
The channel lists such natural disasters as:
1) Geological emergencies: Earthquake, Volcanic eruption, Mud, Landslide, Avalanche;
2) Hydrological emergencies: Flood, Tsunami, Limnological disaster,
3) Fires: Forest fire, Peat fire;
4) Meteorological emergencies: Tornado, Cyclone, Blizzard, Hail, Drought, Tornado, Hail, Hurricane, Tsunami, Storm, Thunderstorm, Tempest.

A city which built poorly by not taking into consideration of Mother Nature could likely to suffer like Beijing. Furthermore, CCP also built too many dams which stops the natural flow of water into the sea. More than once, we have seen such incidents of flooding due to dams being opened as well.

Pls google flood. Australia has had severe floods. The US has had horrible floods, actually all nations except Tibet and all others built on mountains have never experienced flooding.

It's not only Beijing, Seoul, Japanese cities, USA, Germany, UK, France, Italy, Spain all had extreme floods and drought. This has nothing to do with Chinese dams or city being built poorly which it isn't. No city can withstand such torrential rains in such short amount of time.

Only cities or villages affected by the floods are near rivers... Floods caused by overflowing rivers, due to heavy rains and violent storms... not all cities or villages near rivers are flooded....... towns and villages far from the river are safe.

That's what canals, drains are supposed to do. But global warming has changed the weather patterns beyond what traditional urban planning can do. And since global warming is fake news to most governments nothing was done.
If the water soaks into the ground, the ground gives way and buildings collapse.
Good drainage is the best prevention, also with trees along the streets, like in the cities of US they have a large drainage in their cities

When you build dense populations the rain has nowhere to go except flow over the surface, then this happens. Drainage has to be planned and implimated to help with this problem.

@@manny4717 You need to remember that the Chinese city of Peking/Beijing, was built centuries ago and it was only a small place initially. Therefore they did not have the infrastructure we have today.....drainage etc. They also have built, over the centuries, across the original floodplains so that the water has now, nowhere to go but through the city. The very same thing happened earlier this year in New Zealand when TC Gabrielle went through the Eastern seaboard and decimated the floodplains where the people had built houses. About a century ago or so, the council of the day decided to divert the course of the river through a different channel. That then gave them the push to sell the original river flats to farmers as the soils were very rich. And so, when the rains fell the water had to go somewhere and it chose its original water course. The problem there was that the timber companies that had cut down heaps of trees and rated them no use for timber, then stockpiled those logs, so when the water came down, these piles set sail and caused massive destruction.
This is the same thing in China....and the vehicles and containers in the way, are not only being sent down river, but causing so much destruction on the way.
If chinese cared then the world and its life wouldnt have been treated the eay it has been by the chinese.
@@manny4717, true, couple with Global warming. More water goes to China means lesser water in other parts of the world (so watch out for forest fires at California, Australia....)
China has more than 98,000 dams, more than any other nation in the world, according to China's Ministry of Water Resources.
That will do it. Take away the natural flow and drainage of water to rivers and Oceans ... and you see the results here.
