Taking it seriously also means not encouraging people to sit in a small enclosed airplane in tight quarters for hours while the air is being constantly recycled, which does, you know, increase the chances of transmitting a disease spread via airborne respiratory droplets. @@JHX1 Not really, there's a good amount of countries that acted quickly enough and took it seriously enough to manage to contain things, even if the infection rate was high at the start, the problem is that the US started rising in the number of infected and the government kept going back and forth about what to do because of highly speculative economic predictions, instead of immediately declaring a state of emergency. If you don't put everyone in quarantine then the death toll will rise so much that the likelyhood is that everyone will know someone that dies of coronavirus, so even if the media isn't scaring people into isolation, that surely will and your economy is doomed anyway.

Some worse than others, maybe I should have added that.. and some had more time than others didn't use it. Some also have more of a geographical advantage (low density, less borders etc) but that clearly isn't a guarantee.

I completely understand. My husband works in an auto supply store and they are being forced to stay open, being deemed “essential”. He said that the crowd size hasn’t gotten any smaller. Everyday that he comes home, he goes straight to the showers before coming near me. (He’s so sweet and responsible). I just hate that he has to be around other people because he’s diabetic.
