I just noticed. You can see the difference between how Clark was raised vs. Lois. His parents actually listen and trust him when he looks into their eyes. But when you watch Lois interacting with her father, Lois is hurt that her dad is lying right in her face and his eyes look more like a man who is speaking to a solider than a daughter…
Yeah but Lois being an army brat is nothing new, and despite everything you can tell he does care about Lois when all is said and done
@@digitaladventurer2142true but caring isn't good enough if you're still a shit parent. You can care and still hurt your child through your actions if you refuse to listen to them.
You hear from Lois earlier that he was never the father she deserved. Even then, she still turned out to be strong
Lois's father is a general, clark's parents are farmers. They know that for something to grow big and strong and good, you must give love, patience, understanding. Lois's father just barks out orders and doesn't friggin' listen.
That speaks volumes to the quality of animation
As horrific seeing Clark in pain, I like actually the psychical damage kryptonite can do to a kryptonian

Gotta love how the general is alone, with only a single pistol, and he's still ready to throw down against an alien invasion force.

@@scottmatheson3346 He absolutely had the choice to just drop everything and run. Sam does show his humanity by warning the kent family of the possible danger and trying to stop it. It is sad, yet inevitable for Lois to learn that the general who was after Superman was her own father.

In my head canon, after a long day at the base, General Lane goes to the local bar to throw a few back with Thunderbolt Ross and compare notes…..
Not that much of a comparison. Lane hates Superman out of fear and ignorance, while Ross hates the Hulk out of envy and arrogance.
DC basically ripped off General Ross when they started to develop Lois's dad more, he was not a general or military guy until recent decades.
@@skyintatters Ross isn't convinced that he's protecting the world from the Hulk, he wants to BE the Hulk to prove his might on the battlefield. Lane actually thinks Superman is a monster, but Ross views the Hulk as a weapon that Bruce Banner won't let him have.
Good to know that the robots have startrooper aim.
Highly advanced combat robots with plasma blasters that theoretically should shoot projectiles that move at or near the speed of light don't have very good aiming systems. Honestly Clark should've saved them or Jimmy should've been non fatality shot and exposed the robots to kryptonite.
2:00 Bet thats how kryptonite becomes not a rare stone in this universe
The reaction it has to those robots is really strange. Just by being near them it crystallizes them in kryptonite. Makes the kryptonite seem almost like a virus or fungal infection (which makes the fact Mr. I'm not even gonna bother gave it to Lois straight up insidious).
I don't know. I don't think it's the same. It doesn't glow like the shard does. And we haven't seen anything have a reaction to it.

TBF, those shots are more likely to be plasma. Lasers are one continuous line from the source, plasma has actual mass and holds it shape, making it a lot slower. Agree with the rest though.
never seen this so I may be talking shit but depending on how long and where they had been hidden and how delicate they were it couldn't be strange for the aiming system to be slightly damaged, especially if they were made to aim at distant things and end up fighting in close quarters. 🤔

You can tell how painful it is seeing how the kryptonite is crawling through Clark's vains, they use to show it in Smallville TV series.
I don't know if anyone picked this up, but the one that was charging up the red laser is sounded like the charge up sound effect of Samus Arans Arm Cannon and it was nostolgic hearing that! its small but awesome!
IT WAS, OH MY GOSH!
That's the Other M one, right?
Wow, Sam Lane is a monster in every universe. It's amazing how a wonderful woman like Lois Lane came from that guy
Okay, Sam isn't a monster. He is a military man who saw a threat the Earth wasn't ready to handle. He made weapons that could defend the world, he kidnapped Superman to get information and was willing to admit that he was wrong. Waller is the monster while Sam is a man with incomplete information.
There's been some Sam's that are actually quite chill, like the one from Superman and Lois.
In fact, I learned that in the pre-crisis world, Sam and his wife were horse farmers in Pittsburg before the post-crisis era and beyond had him as the anti-alien general with a strained relationship with his daughters.
Atleast he genuinely cares about the lives of innocent civilians, unlike his partner (I don't remember her name) who was willing to let a bus full of people die if it meant killing Superman. Although, him kidnapping and torturing criminals definitely doesn't help his case.
@@chuckleberry2142 Indeed.
BTW, his partner is Amanda Walller. The Wall herself.
If you believe in the consequentialist logic that justifies sam's actions, then waller's are justified as well, you can't have it both ways.

I would like to see how Red Kryptonite affects Sups later on in the series. In one episode of the Super Friends series, three criminals from Krypton who escaped from The Phantom Zone, used the stuff on The Man of Steel and caused him to rapidly age but he later cured himself with Blue Kryptonite. He later used the Red Kryptonite on the three criminals which caused random transformations to occur to each of them. One shrank to to the size of a doll, one got his molecules turned to metal, and one became a sasquatch! Talk about getting a dose of your own medicine!
Or Pink Kryptonite which turns Superman gay
No joke, there was literally a Kryptonite that turned Superman gay. DC comics is weird
Then again we are talking about the same company that turned Lois into a centaur, Batman wearing a rainbow suit and the Joker getting pregnant
@@Blitzo8390"We don't talk about the pink one."
I don't think you know how much willpower this super man has even if he somehow lost Lois which would be tragic he can bounce back thanks to his Parents the biggest thing people forget he's Clark Kent first Super Man is what he can do a Hero his Parents made and this Clark has seen so much destruction he wouldn't go down that path
My guess is that in this show's universe, red kryptonite causes debilitating madness.
Depends on what version of red they use the one you mentioned is the original version but there have been a few sense then the most popular sims to be the skallville one where it flips his personality around
The real hero here is poor bad guy aim. If those robots had been a little sharper before Lois and Jimmy jumped into the corn that episode would have played out a little differently....
I wonder if they do introduce Doomsday in the next season, will he be a Kryptonian that survived being crystallized by Kryptonite.
Doomsday is usaly basically a meta human kryptonian who’s a word cross between Deadpool and Darwin ( heals from almost anything but evolves so he can’t be hurt by it again)
its gonna be lex, possibly brainiac or zod. maybe bizarro or lobo will show up. doomsday and darkseid are more season 3-4 big bads. best solution would be darkseid first, season afterwards doomsday, and the season after darkseid again.
Doomsday isn't a season 2 villain, more of a season 3 or 4 one
1:33 Thought I heard the soundbite of Samus's arm cannon charging from the Prime series when the bots charged their weapons.
He seems a lot like General Ross from marvel. Willing to do anything to destroy what he views as a threat, but harming innocent people in the process.

If they have Jon in the future, then that’s going to be an awkward story for the grandson to learn
2:21 let me guess, General didn't turn off that radio and Waller was listening to dad's talk with his daughter.
Ya know after this episode either the General knows who Superman is or he's a complete idiot. On first seeing Clark the General remarks that he looks familiar and after the end of the episode it's clear that there's a deep level of a relationship between Lois and Superman. So he either definitely knows or the writers are idiots.

Brainiac forces! Here on earth!
These are one of the reasons why he kept his identity a secret, Lois.
Hyped for Zod
Though it's my first time seeing this type of Superman animation, and basing just on this short video clip... I can only theorize that the ship emerging from the ground and reacting to kryptonite is Superman's spaceship that brought him to Earth.
Though his original ship is canonically small compared to this, it may have grown through the years being buried by the Kents.
The ship's rising aboveground may be in retaliation to what has happened to Superman being exposed to kryptonite.
It may have risen to protect Superman after sensing danger to the last son of Krypton, and thus deploying Kryptonian robots.
Why would kryptonite affect the robots? They arent biological.
This is just my guess, but maybe the robots have some kryptonian ore or crystal powering them that reacts negatively to kryptonite like it does with living Kryptonian organisms. That's my best guess.
Probably similar to how extremely radioactive isotopes negatively affect both people and most unshielded electronics, just...specific to Kryptonian biology and tech.
Yeah that is how radiation works. And Kyryptonie is flat out radioactive, I'm surprised they don't show Kryptonite screwing with human technology since it does canonically give humans cancer (Hence why Lex went bald in some adaptations.)
They might be. That parasite Atmore changed ivo into a kiju, and that was the same tech. Could be a FNAF situation.😮
I hoped big battle, military vs aliens but i got this, sad but still cool
As much as I hate the General, considering the very signifigant visible threat he has a point or 2, he's not right bit he wasn't entirely wrong either.

She looks like the main character from owl house
This show😢 I can't say enough great things about it. It reminds me of the DCAU Superman show i watched as a kid in Nigeria 🤩 It excels all around, especially with characterization, action, dialogue and world building. On characters, it did that so well. Superman is back as a hopeful, heroic and inspiring character unlike what Snyder did. Lois is still a strong, kind and likable female character with no usual toxicity. Even Jimmy was so well done. It's like westerners actually decided to make a great Superhero show for once❤ Best thing was no toxic identity politics but rather it uses themes and issues to enhance it's storytelling and characterization.
You know, for ai robots, they got the aim of a f*cking storm trooper
I really hope Lois shows some skin in Season 2. A beach episode or a "getting-comfy-after-a-bath" scene would fit the bill. And maybe Clark could play with her feet a little.

It's like they switched the personalities of Martha and Jonathan. He is supposed to be the calm one that reassures his wife that everything is going to be ok and to trust their son. I don't like how they dumbed him down.
They actually seem to be more nuanced than that. After the first time Clark opened his ship when he was a kid and it scared him, it was Jonathan that said he shouldn't let that scare him away from learning the truth while Martha didn't want him getting near it again.
Is it wrong for roles to be reversed? I get that he usually is the one doing the reassuring, but I'm sure even he gets scared every now and then so it was nice to have Martha there for him during this episode
Not necessarily. There are instances where both have to calm the other down.

Besides this version of Superman had so many significant differences from the others from Lois looks and attitude to her father being a bad guy to Jimmy Olson and Clark being roommates and Jimmy revealing he has known the whole time Clark was Superman and Deathstroke working for Waller so it would make sense if this episode ended that way.
Besides this episode and the season ended to easily without Consequences Like how Louis kept secrets from Clark when she forced his secrets out by jumping off the building which I thought was crazy and also he did mess up by keeping secrets from her and Jimmy so doesn't she learned that nothing good comes from keeping secrets from your friends there should be consequences for her action even I know she had to come clean to Clark when she saw his double gangers on the holographic projection that she got from pidley wink I'm not showing that to Clark she sent him on a wild goose chase Because she was forcing secrets out from him and information and a or a good story or her blog at the daily planet and with Clark finally finds out from her evil father not knowing it's him at first and then after he escapes Louis and Jimmy and those kids find him when they Help him Clark says to Louis you Finally got your story Louis I just found out who my people were and the awkward part is She already knows because of the holographic projaction so that Is what I mean when I say she sent my wild goose chase and having her father shot like that would backbite on her and make her realize that she made a mistake and let's not forget because she kept that from Clark she almost caused an alien vasion at the end of this episode and put clark's relatives at risk and longed the whole world so that's why I think it's better that her father gets shot and she gets consequences and her relationship with Clark needs to be put on hold a little longer before things get Better for both of them I just think this episode in season ended too good too soon do you get why I said these things now besides.
And they could have reconcile in the next season I even know what they could have done Here's what happens in season 2 Clark stays home and does not come to work a while and has requested time off from what Perry says but really it's because he's mad at Lois and Jimmy for keeping secrets from him and doesn't want to look at them for quite a long time and they obviously know it and obviously the Kent's agreed too because they are also mad at Louise for all the things she's done to their son And Louis is grieving for her father but she knows it's her fault because of the secrets and also she's trying to figure out what was her father up to when she finds out he's the general so she and Jimmy tried to look up and get information they sneak to a base to figure it out however they get ambushed by soldiers but who saves them a Superman who overheard them with his strong hearing he gets him out of there and said OK they're fine but she apologizes saying it was her fault saying she's been a bad person and a terrible girlfriend and friend too so she apologizes even cries and Clark forgives her even says he's missed her and Jimmy for the past 8 months They reconcile they get back together he comes back to work at the daily planet and comes back to doing his job as Superman in metropolis which people the metropolis have also missed.
