A good number of people discredit the effectiveness of financial advisors in exploring new markets, but over the past 10years I’ve had a financial advisor consistently restructure and diversify my portfolio/expenses and I’ve made over $3million in gains… might not be a lot but i'm financially secure.

"I am a most unhappy man. I have unwittingly ruined my country. A great industrial nation is controlled by its system of credit. Our system of credit is concentrated. The growth of the nation, therefore, and all our activities are in the hands of a few men. We have come to be one of the worst ruled, one of the most completely controlled and dominated Governments in the civilized world no longer a Government by free opinion, no longer a Government by conviction and the vote of the majority, but a Government by the opinion and duress of a small group of dominant men." ~Woodrow Wilson

When I was in my twenties I started buying gold coins at $400. Per ounce. Kept buying a little each year as gold continued to rise. Now I’m 74 and I may sell some of my $400. Gold and as it continues to rise I will sell it a bit at a time. Gold is not to make money with, it’s a vehicle to transfer wealth from one time to another without losing it all to inflation.

so turns out the marshmallow test doesn't actually measure how 'smart' you are.
when you break down the results of the trials, it becomes pretty apparent that it measures 'abundance'
    - the kids from stable backgrounds could rely on the promise of more food later (based on lived experiences and expectations) so it makes sense for them to wait (confident in the knowledge that more food will in fact follow after a short period).
    - the kids from less affluent and/or stable backgrounds had already learnt, at an early point in life, that there may not actually be another chance to eat the marshmallow, they can't rely on the future promises as readily and it is therefore actually smarter, from a survival point of view, to take the resources that are available to you now because nothing is guaranteed...

Rays advice is ok for general passive investing. But to become truly wealthy you need to make acquisitions that have synergistic effects, in effect correlated... And even better if they're in low beta environments. Even if you make money you need to hold it through the entire business cycle, many don't, they burn bright and then burn down during a recession.

Work out what you have coming in and how much you owe and to whom. Contact all your creditors and ask if they can stop charging interest and if they can also reduce your payments to a manageable level until you get back on your feet. If you have spare rooms rent them out Take a month’s rental up front this will cover any damage or unpaid bills if they leave. Make sure you get them to sign a contract. Look around your belongings and sell what you can. If you have a new car trade it in for a cheaper second hand one. If you have time after your work to fit in another job do it. I hope you will soon be debt free. PS Don’t be tempted to gamble. You are not alone millions are in the same boat.

Always wondered what the outcome would be if China courted Tiawan as a bride rather posturing as an agressor.
Yet the established way of politics appears that China is required to be a dominant bully to achieve its desires.
We see again in this documentary /comment the way in which previous administrations are unable to cope with changes in the future .Which rigid outlines have been laid out in good intention. But get pressured by future events deliberately or otherwise.
So how much of the future is controled by history ?
History was the subject we are supposed to learn from to stop future failings such as wars.
But are wars a predictable part of history where two or more parties fail to agree due to issues predestined by history ?
We can lance an irratating possibly harmful boil but can we continualy defuse World confruntation where domination and influence is set to wax and wane ?At possibly alarming degrees.

What I see us a vague similarity to the 1920’s into the 1930’s Great Depression. Right now we’re in May 1929. The market crashed in Oct 1929. That though was not an election year. This year is an election year which makes things more politically sensative. Germany in the 1920’s suffered massive inflation. How did that turn out in 1933? I see the potential for that in America in 2025 or 2026. Desperate people will go for desperate measures and what sre we seeing right now? A rise in antisemitism very similar to what happened in Germany in the 1930’s. You know whst followed that. It was the very first nuclear war just at the end in Japan. WW3 though would be very short, like a few hours and the survivors will be back to throwing sticks and stones at each other in the dark. Human nature never changes but technology does.

The one asset with the greatest risk adjusted return (highest Sharpe ratio) and zero counterparty risk is bitcoin. There is no second best.

SLeepy Joe printed way to much money. Dollar going to crash to downside while markets and equities crash to upside. I hope you are fully invested to protect against the 88k per year loss in hyperinflation coming

was actually obama and trump that printed the majority of the money. it just has a lag effect on the economy. not saying biden's a good president, but the high inflation we're seeing has pretty much nothing to do with him or his tenure. it was trump and biden

During the Great Depression of the 30's, my Grandparents had 12 children. My Grandfather had to provide for 12 children and a homemaker wife, on one salary. Plus he had a 40 hour week job and 25 year mortgage. So, they got married in 1930 and by the end of the WW2, 1945, my grandparents achieved their goal.
Now, we are in worst shape then the Great Depression. Couples are having 2 children, a 40 year mortgage and two people working 60 hours a week each and still can't make ends meet. Sad but true. Peace.

Taiwan should be independent because the republican people of China escaped to Taiwan after the cultural revolution after second world war ! Hence they have been looking after Taiwan as well as acting independently like the original citizens of Taiwan. They’ve been acting independently like Japan or Korea, Singapore, etc! So it should be protected as a democratic nation like the west, hence protecting them is as vital as Ukraine!
