The Akhal-Teke horse is renowned for its streamlined, greyhound-like appearance and the remarkable shine on its coat. Some individuals of the breed look as though they have been dipped in liquid gold! The Akhal-Teke has its origins in Turkmenistan, in the wider region of Turkistan, and it is likely to be one of the most ancient types in the world. The horse is associated closely with the Turkmen people and is now recognised as one of their most important cultural assets. Equestrians buy an Akhal-Teke for the breed’s beauty, speed and endurance as well as its important role in the history of horse breeds. It is specialist breeders and enthusiasts who mostly sell an Akhal-Teke, since this is a rare horse, numbering only in the hundreds outside its homeland.

I own two akhal tekes : they are sweet, clever and faithful... their behaviour hang on the behaviour you have with them....

Well, I was just about to write that there didn't seem to be anything not to love about this breed and then I saw the comment below!!

They can't be dun or roan. Akhal teke has cream gene and basic colors.

Docile 🤣🤣🤣 noooo this breed is notorious for having a bad attitude and being an absolute nightmare to train. If you cross a pissed off Gator with a snorty arab, you'd get a Teke 😂😂😂

how do you know? Do you have experiences with an Akhal-Teke?

@@ehorsesinternational I do, I've worked with this breed specifically for 5yrs, most of my time was spent a breed exhibition farm in the US before moving back to the UK to study Teke cross breeds to make a better eventing prospect

Incorrect, they would be difficult for poor horseman or trainers to train because of their intelligence. I own one and have trained for an Akhal Teke breeder. The people who say that, have been outsmarted by a Teke, because they don't require many repetitions to learn something new, whether it's "bad" or "good". They are the most brave and intelligent breed I have worked with. They are also one of the foundation breeds that contributed to the development of the Thoroughbred. You couldn't be more wrong. That's like saying all Quarter Horses are big lazy halter horses, it's simply incorrect.
