True story: When riding solo in the local pine forrest, I came across a massive english mastiff, so I slowed right down and stopped... his owner, in all camo, with camo face paint, carrying a hunting compound bow and arrow (with an arrow loaded in the string) came out of the trees and asked me "have you seen any wildlife??".... to which I physically gulped, said no, and slowly peddaled away repeating over and over in my mind. "Please don't kill me.... please don't kill me...please god don't kill me!"

When i was on the top i saw someting that look like a creature, and on the downhill i saw an other one, i also heard weird sounds. When i got to the bottom i rode hard as i can out the forest. I still dont know what happent but it scared the fuck out of me...

  • @onesadtech
    @onesadtech Před 2 lety +6

This is actually too accurate. I've had some random dude who I think lived in the woods near the trails strike up a conversation with me once, started talking about how he was in jail for a while, and how everyone should carry a weapon on them, was kinda weird. I just kept chatting with him and then rode away quickly asap without being rude. 😂😂
Another time I was way up in the back of an abandoned farm around dusk. I had hopped off my bike for a moment when something kinda caught my attention from the corner of my eye, it turned out to be a long gray hair ON my shoulder, believe me when I tell you I made it back out to the main road 10 times faster than I got in there!
    Anyway, great short film!

Thought he was dead or something so I stopped and asked if he was okay, and he just sorta mumbled "yeah" and kept lying there. Needless to say I definitely set a PR hightailing it the rest of the way back while thinking of how every zombie movie starts. A few minutes later an owl swooped up from nowhere right in front of the bike because I wasn't freaked out enough before.

I had one solo ride where I got caught out in a nasty thunderstorm (while being fairly exposed). Let's just say I was setting PRs racing to get back to the house. Being absolutely terrified is a marvelous motivator :D
Normally I tend to not ride solo in the woods / mountain areas as we have too many big critters (mountain lions, bears, etc). Big cats are terrifying. Several coworkers have been stalked while out hiking and one of my neighbors dogs (4 large dogs) were attacked by a small mountain lion. Thankfully the dogs all survived but they got beat up pretty good.

I remember doing a night ride and whilst climbing a steep hill in the middle of some remote woods I heard a baby crying. It proper freaked me out and made me really uneasy the remainder of the ride. I had this feeling I was constantly being watched, and at one point near a gate and field I felt a little exposed and had a strange, creepy feeling. I then decided to call it a day and quickly headed back home. A few days later I saw an article about 1500 sheep disappearing over an evening without a trace at the same location with the gate and field. Local people reported strange red lights over that area. That was my last night ride alone😬

Happens with animal encounters in the woods. I lived in a log house in the mountains for a number of years. I took my Stump Jumper out for a run down the mountain side one sunny day. As I approached my driveway gate I heard a Thump … Thump. I looked behind me to see that two black cubs had just jumped down from a tree near me they were climbing. They were curious about me. I looked forward and saw the mama black bear approaching me and her two cubs from bushes she was in. I maintained eye contact with the mama bear and backed away from the cubs and mama, and slowly walked my bike back into the log house. Close call.

The rest of the network is manageable but there are a few creepy places I have to ride through and I always make sure to just power through them.
I probably set a PR on that trail the last time I rode it because I was just sprinting to get to the bottom. It could be noon on a Sunday and I still feel uncomfortable there.

Pure gold. 90% of the time I ride solo and I can attest with nearly 100% certainty that when you come across folks deep in the mountains here in Washington State they're either A) Stoned, or B) Carrying a shovel.
    Or A and B.
I would also like to note that if they made this into a B rated horror movie. I'd watch it. Thumbs up.

Squirrels can be so loud! And the only good thing about those spooked-out adrenaline filled runs is that I realize I'm a lot faster than I thought.

One of my local trails goes up underneath a highway bridge that crosses a river and lately I have totally expected to find a body dumped over the side of the bridge. The creepy stuff always happens when alone. Thanks Bobo.

One of my local trails goes through a 20 meter old tunnel that is used for drainage under a highway. It is pitch black in the middle and it's terrifying.

Oh my days I have a story
I was riding in the woods when I saw a figure in a white dress with long black hair over her face staring down at the ground in the centre of the path. Said “fuck that I’m out” and at that moment the two identical twin girls who where looking down at a phone for directions looked up and started walking down another path. Scared the absolute living shit out of me

Used to go up to Tanasi trail system in TN. At the top, around a blind turn, someone hung a teddy bear in a tree. Damn near shatmeself first time I rounded that corner.
