  • I visit Mentik Bali, a rare plant nursery and shop located near downtown Denpasar of Bali Island. Adi shares some plant care tips in Bali, and we tour his collection to see what he has in stock. He is an avid collector, hunter, and trader of rare plants, seeing plants fly quickly on and off his shelves. They do export so feel free to reach out! We hope you enjoy this plant tour video!

    Next time if you visit Bali again, i would recommend to reach out their Platycerium people/community there. I think their Platycerium enthusiast is the most prominent from all of regions in Indonesia...

      @@onlyplants or you can simply find Platycerium collectors that live in Jakarta or near. I'm pretty sure there are few... I think It's interesting content to cover. Since it's very "underrated" plant genus (in my opinion), there are only 18 species in the world, and 4-5 species are actually native to Indonesian forest.

      I completely agree. In fact, it’s helping me brush up on mine because I live in the US. I also show my mother your videos. Makes us feel like home, and she gets to see why I’ve become a plant enthusiast myself. Terima kasih Kak Sean 🙏💚

    Wow, such beautiful plants. I can only dream of seeing all those in one place. Australia is really strict, we even have problems sending plants to certain states!

    Apparently a simple solution of water, dish soap, and baking soda works just as good as those commercial pesticides and fungicides (it works as both), and it doesn't harm the environment. Just saying . . (cheaper too).

    • @onlyplants
      @onlyplants  Před 2 lety +2

      They do work but its not as reliable and efficient as chemicals. The sweet spot is actually neem oil which does have a lot of reliability… or even better to use predatory bugs 🥹 Im trying to source some here but its impossible

    • @brocktoon8
      @brocktoon8 Před 2 lety

      @@onlyplants Ooh that's true, I forgot about neem oil and predatory bugs! I'd love to try both of those. I've tried the soap/baking soda and was surprised how well it worked for my problem but every problem is different and what works for one might not work for another. Thanks for reminding me about the neem oil! Predatory bugs are awesome too but a bit expensive for my purposes. Let me know in case you try that, I'd love to see a video on predatory bugs with updates! :D

    its so interesting listening to indonesian language. a couple of words that sounds familiar to me, "bunga" is fruit in the Philippines. you were talking about the anthurium flowers. "puti" is white in the Philippines. i know that there are a lot of Malaysian words that are similar to some of the dialects in the Philippines but I didn't know that Indonesian is also similar

    This is so beautiful! I live in New Zealand, and like you said Australia is almost impossible to export to, us in NZ are the same. It means prices are staying inflated much higher than elsewhere and are dropping much slower, though still quickly now. And plants that dropped in price a year ago elsewhere are only just starting to become less rare here. It's so interesting to compare all the different countries.
    Is plant culture very normal/popular in Indonesia in general? Or does it just seem like it to us because we see so many beautiful plants through yours and others channels?

    • @onlyplants
      @onlyplants  Před 2 lety +1

      Indonesia has a hugeeee population. I would say the percentage of population that is passionate and invested in plants here are much less than most developed countries.
