*Taylor Resists the Prince But Submits to the Queen* 👑
It's funny how Taylor finally freed herself from Omar's plot control only to willingly submit herself to Stephanie's plot control. It highlights two different kinds of manipulation on this show. Omar held Taylor prisoner against her will and is trying to force her to be his wife. Stephanie instead creates opportunistic scenarios and convinces people to do what she wants. She has Brooke thinking she's still on her side even as she's actively plotting to help Taylor.
Omar's blunt forced tactics resemble those of Blake (who held Karen captive) and Eric (who tried to keep Brooke trapped in marriage to him) and they have no chance of success because the women they are trying to control always resist bitterly and want to escape. Even if Stephanie's tactics don't always work, they're more fun to watch, they grease the wheels of the plot better, and she gets people to go along with her and submit to her designs with less resistance.
When Stephanie and Brooke were reluctant allies, she berated Brooke to leave Eric and make the moves to claim Ridge for herself. And when Stephanie and Taylor were friendly allies, she encouraged Taylor to get in Brooke's f a c e and actively defend her marriage to Ridge. Thus the difference between Stephanie's tactics and those of Blake/Eric/Omar is that the men try to control the plot by _opposing_ a woman's desire and restraining her, whereas Stephanie tries to control the plot by _aligning_ her goals with another woman's desire and prodding her to act on both of their behalf. Stephanie's manipulation allows for a more dynamic plot where a woman gets to use the full range of her assets and arsenal. It once again highlights that this show is female-centered and that the plot drives better when the driver is a woman. Or as Stephanie once put it (in episode 1113): _"Men._ No finesse."

It's entertaining though to see Macy enter the dark side - complete with black outfit - and behave in a way that is so totally beyond the constraints of her normal character. In a "realistic" storyline, it would stretch our willing suspension of disbelief to the breaking point that Anthony would not get suspicious of this sudden change in Macy since he has known her for a fairly long time, but it kind of underlines the "fairy tale" nature of this storyline, and how Anthony's Achilles heel is his inflated ego which makes him overly self-confident and blind to other people's emotions. Even before this, he has usually projected his own desires onto Macy rather than seeing her for who she really is - and now she is actively transforming herself into Anthony's fantasy version of her.
YES. It works because of the fairytale framework and also because of what we know about Anthony. Macy is playing his psychology like a fiddle (to use a music metaphor for her). There's something darkly funny about Anthony getting jealous because Thorne is getting credit for his murderous handiwork! 😂 And what a change for Thorne who's normally in the envious beta guy position. Macy really has made Thorne's dreams of being Ridge come true.

Idiot of the day contestants: Brooke, Taylor and Macy. Brooke for trusting Stephanie and thinking she's still on Brooke's side. Macy for thinking Anthony will confess in a public place. And Taylor for giving Omar any legitimacy. The winner: Taylor. She holds the cards, has the law on her side and yet she's still opening the gates to Omar. I mean, if Taylor did stay with Omar under her new identity, she's be liable for fraud. So why is this even an issue?
As for Brooke, it's her wishful thinking that's keeping her guard down, while Macy has seen the light and is working on gaining trust.

Thorne had a haircut. No wonder he looks a bit different when Macy visits him in prison. He looks wonderful with his new haircut. And I get and understand why Macy loves him so much that she would all out to prove his innocence in Ivana's murder and after overhearing Anthony admit to killing Ivana,setting up Thorne for the murder to win back Macy. Well Macy heard everything. And she believes in Thorne's innocence more than ever now that Anthony admitted to everything and Macy heard it all. She's pretending to believe that Thorne is Ivana's murderer to get a confession on tape from Anthony that will not only provide proof of Thorne Forrester being innocent but Anthony being guilty. Macy loves Thorne and Thorne only she wants and loves not Anthony. Anthony is a cold-blooded murderer and liar and should be where Thorne is right now in prison. Anthony thinks he's gotten away with Ivana's murder, setting up Thorne, framing him all because he wanted Macy back. We all know who Macy loves and wants only. That's Thorne Forrester not Anthony who'd do anything to get Macy back, away from Thorne and then get Spectra Fashions under his full control. But he's not going to get any of that now Macy knows what he did to Thorne the man that she loves.

I know I’m in the minority but I want Thorne to be recast already! Macy’s character deserves so much better!
Yes, but with Harmon she didn't have that much chemistry and his Thorne treated her awfully, just the worst of all (Claudia issues, his attachment to Taylor, him not helping Macy with return of her addiction, romance with Brooke and then sleeping with Darla). My happy ending of Thorne and Macy would be them singing while sun sets behind them, then having a family, working out their issues (especially Thorne fighting with his own) and developing some healthy relationship - propably the only one in this show. But no.
Harmond wasn't much better. He had zero chemistry with Macy, Taylor or brooke.

Winsor Harmon's Thorne treats Macy much worse though. At this point, Jeff Trachta's Thorne has shown character growth to the point that he can actually be a good husband to Macy, but all that progress he's made will be undone after the recast.
I actually think in many ways, Thorne and Macy's story ends with their upcoming wedding. That is the natural end point to their 1990-1995 story arc. At that point, they have really earned their happily ever after, and anything that happens after that requires the characters to actually _regress_ (as Thorne does in 1997 when he starts repeating the Caroline pattern from 1987) and feels like an unnecessary sequel.
Yes, Macy still has some good storylines left past this point, but Thorne/Macy don't really connect as a couple after the recast, and so that story becomes _her_ story rather than _their_ story.
I absolutely love Stephanie and I always defend her, even when she's wrong. However, even I have to admit that she is a hypocrite and she is just as conniving and manipulative as Brooke is.
