  • Sublime is a standout hotel in a sea of resorts. Everyone knows Punta Cana and La Romana for its resorts and beaches to the point that most people forget about the rest of the island that these places belong to. Which is why I love that this place is a little different.
Sublime Hotel and Residences is located in Las Terrenas, Samana in Playa Coson. It’s an absolutely beautiful resort that offers none of lame amenities that other resorts on the island offer like shows, buffets and mediocre drinks.
Its a really beautiful property that offers a chic and relaxing mood in paradise. Sublime feels like a small boutique hotel on the beach. It has two pools connected through two canals that have these picturesque cabanas lining the main walkway. You can’t really use the cabanas since they’re more like bridges for people to walk over. But it really is a stunning design. It has a really nice gym thats not air conditioned but if you’re working out in the early morning you’ll be fine. There are plenty of machines for a nice workout to keep you in shape while you go in on the amazing food and drinks that they offer. The outdoor spa is also serene. Its located right on the beach and its the probably the best place to get a massage. I didn’t book a session but I definitely will next time.
Now let’s talk about the beach. Like I mentioned earlier Sublime is located in Playa Coson which is a beautiful beach that sits right underneath some mountains and lined with palm and coconut trees. I spent afternoons taking naps on the beach and dipping into the water to cool off… I was living. The beach isn’t crowded….you will see some foot traffic but not enough to distract you or wake you if you want to nap. There are other hotels and homes on the beach which is where most of the foot traffic comes from … but for the most part things were nice and quiet. The beach is also really long so its perfect for sunsets. Thankfully the sand wasn’t filled with much seaweed growth which a lot of places in the Caribbean tend to suffer from.
Speaking of beach activities they have snorkel gear, paddle boards and sail boats if you’re in the mood for some adventure.
Now let’s talk about food. There are two restaurants that serve truly amazing meals (honestly the best Ive had at any resort). This property is not an all inclusive hotel (which I like because buffet food at hotels tend to be bland and uninspired). Hotels on the island also tend to shy away from local cuisine which is a damn shame! Dominican cuisine is delicious and if you’re coming to enjoy the beach you’d be a fool to not eat like a local. Honestly it irritates me so much that most hotels don’t offer typical Dominican dishes. Not Sublime! They take Dominican cuisine and run with it, for example I had this dish… with plantain gnocchi! They made gnocchi with sweet plantains! Anyway the food is incredible. Next, the drinks: They have a really nice bar thats beautifully styled with a lot of greenery, the cocktails weren’t next level but much better than I expected. They did make a mean mojito. The cocktail menu was a breath of fresh air since a lot of hotels here don’t put an emphasis on mixology and cocktails.
This property is interesting because it has private condos and hotel rooms. I stayed in a one bedroom apartment that was really spacious.
    (ROOM WALKTHROUGH)
If you’re looking to go to DR but don’t want to do the usual all inclusive resort thing, then coming to Las Terrenas and staying here will give you that opportunity to enjoy the beach and also immerse yourself in some Dominican culture, which is in my opinion is what you should be doing!
Well thats all, I hope you found this video helpful, if you did please hit the like and subscribe button and I’ll catch you next time.

Great video Jose. Do you happen to know which is the best all inclusive hotel in Samana? My family tent to gravitate to the all inclusive setting. In other words, they like to big out.

How is the area around there? Can you get around off the resort?
