I forgot to say earlier that i searched this video because I just bought a Revere 85 8 mm film projector on eBay. Can't wait. Thanks again. I will surely watch your video to learn how to use it. And you teach so good.
I am 89, but when I was 17 in Chicago; my HS friend got one of these classics. And I always thought it was awesome; and believe it or not, I often thought about it. Odd that I would be buying one that many years gone by. Praise Jesus.

thank you so much for posting this! My grandpa made home movies in the 50s that I have been going thru. The audio is on 78 rpm records that I have been converting to wav files. This projector was in my grandparents' basement with no instructions. This helps a lot!

My Grandparents had ,a 16mm camera, Since the 1940's and
Shot Central Park on 16mm film.
And I still have them to this very day . Then 8 m.m. Came out plus
That took off like hot cakes everybody in the neighborhood
Ran out to their local camera shop
      And purchased 8 m.m. Cameras.
When super8 came out the same
Thing happened the neighborhood ran out and
      purchased a super8 movie camera & a dual 8 projector to
Go with it . I recommend that
You go to the thrift store & buy one. They cost about $25.00
or more and it depends what
      Condition it's in.

Just received a revere 85 from an eBay purchase, for movies we found when our parents pass away.
You made set up and use very easy and kept danger from our movies. Thank you for this content!!!!
That bulb will melt film ran at a slower speed and melts real fast if film is stopped 😳.

I had this exact same model. Very dependable projector. The reason I sold it was the fact that it only had a 200' capacity. I graduated to a Keystone K-109, which takes 400' reels. I love the tiny oil holes. My Keystone has these also.

Brother Caleb, most EXCELLENT instructional video sir! Last week a friend of mine gave me a Revere Model 85; he runs an electronics business & someone just dumped it off on him - my friend didn't want to mess with it, so he gave it to me! Serial # B 93332. I'm pretty sure it was manufactured sometime in the 1950s; have been searching for a Revere Camera Co. serial # database resource, but haven't found one yet.

Great, no nonsense video! Dug my grandparent's out with some old family and newsreels, and definitely didn't want to run it without a refresher exactly like this.
You didn't mention in the video, but I do remember being told to run the motor for a while after turning the light off to cool it down and extend its life. That'd be a consequence of rewinding, of course, but in case anyone figures to do that later you should still cool it down before shutting everything off.
3:22 You also prompted me to dig through another part of my basement and pull out my copy of Fable 2. Have to follow the directions, after all.

The projected picture increases in size on the screen as the distance is increased between the projector and the screen. For example using a 1 inch lens at a distance from the projector to screen is 5 feet then the width of the projected picture would be 10 inches; 12 feet would have a picture of 2 feet, 1 inch; 20 feet away would project a 3 feet, 5 1/5 inches picture and so on.

  • @plumbingstuffinoregon2471

Hi, thanks for the tutorial :) I did have a question though, I just bought a 1945 model of this projector at a thrift store and it turns on and everything works I'm just concerned that the bulb smokes when it's on. It this normal? It has two bulbs with it, a replacement and the one in the camera, I tried both and both smoke and burn. I'm assuming it's dust but is this hazerdous to plug in because of all the power it draws?
