I previously committed on the shade 8 and I too thought it was to warm to orange, but I found I was using it wrong. When I used my Elf Flawless blending brush it looked so much better. Let me tell you I was shook at how good it looked it matched me perfectly. It is truly your skin but better. I have been using the universal shade as a primer and I now use shade 8 as my foundation. All have been using is shade 8, some concealer, a little bronzer, a little eyeshadow and blush. I set my face with a very light dusting of finishing powder and a little setting spray because I work in a hospital and I wear a mask all day But let me tell you I have not gotten oily and I did not need to blot not one time and this is after having my makeup on all day. At the end of the day my makeup looked just like it did when I applied it in the morning. I love love love love this product. I am totally shook lol. I have hot flashes and my makeup did not budge and I didn’t get shiny at all. I have combination skin, I get very oily in my T Zone. But not with this product. I am so happy I brought these, this has been the best product I purchased all year. It is all of that Babeeee 🔥🔥🔥🔥

The packaging is everything! I love that it comes with its own spatula and the product looks like perfection! Nice review! Also, you're 100% right about some products leaving a blue/whiteish hue on melanin skin. It's reassuring that this doesn't happen. Also, your makeup looks GORGEOUS!!! 😍🔥

It’s a beautiful formula, I think you’ll love it. I’m considering trying her yummy foundation instead, i might have more luck with the shade match.
The more reviews I see the more I think the universal shade is the way to go to use it more as a primer. or to wear on no makeup days. thanks for sharing

Great review, same as you I got 2 shades , universal and shade 9 that is perfect for me .
But I wanted to suggest you to mix the universal with other foundations that you own.
I did that , I mixed with vision cover cream foundation from Danessa, and Giorgio Armani luminous silk, and worked wonderfully and lasted all day .😘

Thanks for help! I'm close to panning my Pat McGrath undereye powder so I've been shopping around for a replacement and the universal shade sounds divine. You should use the darker shade as a bronzer since you have it and it looks great on you too 🤷🏾♂️

Now I’m thinking I need to try PMGL under eye powder. Yes! the universal shade is lovely, it has a beautiful finish without the “powdered under eye look”. I tried to use it as a bronzer but it’s too close to my skin tone, I would need a deeper shade. Thank you so much 🥰
@@MitsukoBlaise it's an extremely silky and lightweight formula so a little goes a long way but I use it for bare skin mostly so idk how it interacts with most foundations.. I can use it over cream blush/highlighter just fine 🤷🏾♂️
I also use PMGL D23 concealer as eyeshadow/blush/bronzer with the powder & I've never had any pilling, creasing etc. It's so finely milled it smooths over itself in my creases so I can't recommend that one in particular enough.
I think a beefier formula like the balm would be longer lasting but then when combined it'd probably be the most optimal, but I personally don't need both so I can wait for Black Friday 😜👀
THANK YOU!! I was so excited about this product when I heard and read about it but I couldn’t figure out how to apply it and have it work (not pill, not chunk, etc). I tried reading application tips, tried to find CZcams tutorials, and just could not figure it out/get it to work. I had resigned myself to having wasted ~$50 CAD. Then your video popped up on my recommended tab and it all finally makes sense! I can finally, actually use it, so THANK YOU for showing and explaining how to properly use it in different ways! You look awesome. I was having a problem with the tint for the balm, but luckily I found a company that allows a person to purchase samples. I just received the balm in
7, which is perfect for me. I have the colors 6 & 8, but 6 is too light and 8 is too dark. I was going to get the Universal color, but the #7 is perfect, and just on top of the Juice Boost is crazy good. No one thought I had on makeup.
That sounds lovely!! I was really hoping to have a tinted balm and to use the universal as a primer/setting balm but unfortunately, none of the shades worked for me.
I just received the universal this evening and was looking to see how to use it best. I think I'm shade 9, but it does look a little too warm maybe. Wish she had more shades. Thanks for this video. You look beautiful.

We’re about the same skin tone, but I was thinking about going with 7 because it’s neutral. Idk why they don’t have another neutral slightly darker than 7. The color doesn’t look bad at all, but like you I think 8 will be too warm. Although the warmth actually blended quite well and looks beautiful on you.
Have you tried 7? I agree, I just wish there was a 7.5 or 8.5, both darker and with different undertones. I tend to lean towards yellow and I don’t know if there’s a shade for me. I think 8 on me can be used as a corrector under my foundations and concealers 🤷🏾♀️ Thank you ☺️
@@MitsukoBlaise Not yet. I just saw the release the day I saw your video. Yours was my second or third video. It’s been tough finding someone that tried 7 because everyone seems to be trying 8 and it’s too warm, or too dark. I think I’m going to try 7 after seeing those as my tone is similar to theirs so 8 is likely too warm and too dark. I have bit of yellow even rusty red leaning more olive in my undertone vs warm so neutral tends to work well on me. I’m also excited to try the non-tinted version as a base and then apply my powder foundation on top. Or just wear it on a no foundation day. Wish it was on sale. 🤦🏽♀️

Hello beautiful I just got mine yesterday and I also brought the universal shade and shade number 8. The universal shade I absolutely loved it. I used it as a primer and it blurred by skin I just fell in love with it, but when I put in my foundation….. I used makeup forever HD skin in shade toasted almond (4N62) and let me tell you it took it to a whole new level. Simply beautiful and flawless. Now Shade number 8 it’s a no go for me. I looked orange and it emphasized every texture I had on my face now that could be me using way to much product and I also used a brush which made it look patchy and weird. It cling to my little peach fuzz on my cheeks. But once I blended it out with my damp sponge it looked better. But I definitely need another shade. It was way to warm and orange for me. I going to take it back and see if I can get a better match. Because if u can find my match and it performs like universal shade then we got a winner babbeee.
Just like you, I wasn’t lucky with shade number 8 and I think a lot of people had issues with it too. So happy the universal shade worked for you. I’ve been loving mine and it’s a game changer for real! You really can’t go wrong with the universal, I’ve been using it to set my makeup whenever I don’t want to use powder and it’s 👌🏾 I’m keeping an eye out in case they add more shades, that would be amazing 🤞🏾
I think the shade match is perfect!! You look amazing!! I feel like we are the same complexion and I struggled with choosing between shades 7&8 also. My face is much lighter than the back of my hands so I can’t use that as a guide. But I think shade 8 really compliments you. Will you try shade 7 and do another video?
It sounds like we have the same issue. I tried 7 and it was too light for me. I’m still hoping they’ll come out with a shade that will work for me. In the meantime, I love the universal shade since I can use any of my fav foundations.

I’m thinking about trying 05, the next warm shade down from 8. I’m expecting it to be a bit light, but still wearable. I wish Danessa would’ve made shade 07 with a peach undertone:(
Hoping it works for you! Depending on the look you’re going for, it could be good for a no makeup makeup. 8 was just too warm, I really wish she made a shade with a yellow undertone.

We’re about the same skin tone and I have the same issue with foundations. Us neutral-to-olive brown skinned girls need a few more options. I ordered shade 8 as well. We’ll see how it goes!

Hi. I got the shade 7. It very sheer. I went with Danessa Myricks recommendation. On her site if you wear shade 16N in the yummy foundation shade 7 was recommended for me. When I got it. I said this is too light. But once applied and absorbed in my skin it was perfect.
I didn’t think about shade matching on her website, I’ll think of that next time. I’m happy you found a great match. Do you find that it gives you a light coverage or can you build it up?

Stunning! I got shade 7 and it looks a little light. I thought about purchasing shade 8 to mix but I don't want to look orange. You don't look orange on you on camera. Does it in person.?
7 looked like a mix of neutral and warm. When I swatched 8, it was very orange on me but once it was on my face, it looked less orange but still too much for me. I have more of a yellow undertone and I don’t think I can mix two shades. Thank you ☺️

I went with shade 7 and it is too light. I need a 7.5 in a neutral tone. 8 is too red. I am so disappointed. I guess I need to return it. It took 15 days to arrive. So disappointing.
