- With only two weeks until the launch of the SEGA Genesis Mini, we sat down with iconic developer and receiver of the GDC Pioneer Award, Reiko Kodama, who shared what the Genesis means to her and what some of her best memories are from working on the platform.

I hope SEGA can remaster Skies of Arcadia in memory of her. She gave me my favorite game at such a young age. Thank you Rieko Kodama.
Phantasy Star made me a gamer, Skies of Arcadia changed my life. I wish I had the chance to meet her and thank her in person. Rest in peace Rieko! 😇💕

For all the true gamers out there, please support SEGA. They've been putting out great stuff now for a while and have a huge backlog of classics that would make great new games. A Saturn and Dreamcast mini would be incredible.
Show all those people who missed out the first time all the great games they should have played.
Sega has a long and colorful story of messing up their own titles. Last shitshow was just a couple of months ago. They've tried to release PSO2 in the west. And even without that, this abomination had a goddamn casino built in it. And I don't mean lootboxes. Those were there too, though. Whoever is in charge of Sega now, they better keep of their hands of classics.
WE STAN A QUEEN!!! Sega, give Kodama a team to make Phantasy Star 5 like she's always wanted to please!
Blame Sammy for this and I really hope they divest from Sega. They have tarnished the Sega brand by making less console games.
Someone needs to hurry up and buy out Sega from Sammy before Kodama retires. She is in the same age as Kojima. Save mainline Phantasy Star and let younger generation inherit from her.
And tbh Sony is the only company who can turn around others IPs. Marvel games are good indication that used to be cash grab games under license rights of Activision like Spider-Man and Wolverine that didn't got the AAA treatment and sold like crap on multiple platforms.
I was hoping for the same thing, my friends, but now we know it's too late. Rieko Kodama never got to make the modern-day RPG she deserved.
Rieko Kodama is a hero to so many kids in the 1980s who were lucky enough to have a sega master system 2. My 3 favourite games were alex the kid in miracle world, sonic hedgehog and phantasy star. The 8 bit graphics and game play really stood out for the time.
And now she is gone. 😢
I had Sega Mega Drive II in the 1990s and totally loved it! Beautiful console with cool games!

As a producer of Skies of Arcadia and someone invested in "Sega Ages", why is there no news at all of that licence?...
With Shenmue, the communicative team said it was the most requested game into the community. What else do you need to bring back one of the best JRPG of all time into the light?
Many unworthy games get their remaster or remake and the likes of Skies of Arcadia, Baten Kaïtos and many other don't get your attention? 0_o Sorry, I don't get it.
They seriously need to get Skies of Arcadia ported to a current gen console. It’s just ridiculous. Every month for years I used to search “skies of Arcadia hd” on google til I started losing hope. People who loved it want to play it again and I know tons of other people want to play it because it’s a huge cult classic. How hard can it be to port it? Did they lose the source code or something like with Panzer Dragoon Saga? And release Panzer Dragoon Orta HD too. Not you. But yeah.
