    I just got the new T-Rex rest from Rodzilla and it's even better than I remember when I used it at Nationals. Here's my first impressions and then I'm off to the range!

    John, after using this what are the ups and downs? I need a new front rest and definitely in the market. I hate purchasing expensive gimmicks but willing to pay when it works. Looking at the SEB, Sinclair competition and this one. The Sinclair is tempting because it's nice and less money. However, the downside is we have a 6min sight in period that's to the left of the targets. When I move to the target I'm always high and right and the rifle seems to be in a bind from the swing. The top that rotates sounds like it could possibly cure this problem. Currently it takes a couple of shots to settle itself in. That's 2 flyers right off the bat.

  • @Longshothawk
    @Longshothawk Před 3 lety

    This brings me to a question I've had for a while? What feature separates prs rifles from f class rifle most in terms of precision? Is there something in the rifles set up? (Action, stock, barrel), is it the amount of time spent on the ammo? Or could you take a prs rifle and set it up on a rest like this and get very similar results?
    In my mind I'm thinking prs rifles can maintain 1/2 moa vs f class is at 1/4 moa or better. (Maybe I'm off here)

    • @FClassJohn
      @FClassJohn  Před 3 lety

      I've only shot one PRS match so I'm hardly qualified to describe the needs of that discipline. However, my experience talking to people such as Erik and others is that PRS guns are designed to be light, low recoil and more accurate than precise, plus highly adaptable to all sorts of shooting positions and baracades. F-class guns tend to be heavier, large caliber with moderate to decent recoil, far more unipurpose in design, more precise than accurate and typically shoot from a single known position such as front rest or bipod.

    F class bags can be 3” high in the side correct? Is there an option for higher sides bags on the rest itself?

    • @FClassJohn
      @FClassJohn  Před 3 lety

      Yeah there are other options for the bag. I'm not sure how many but I know Edgewood is making the bags for Rod and I'm sure if he doesn't have what you're looking for, they'll make any dimension or height you want.

    • @FClassJohn
      @FClassJohn  Před 3 lety

      I totally agree however as I responded to someone else, with all the options yes it’s $2000. But with only one set of feet and the sand bag top, it’s only $1695 which is less than a Lenzi now and only a couple hundred more than a Neo. As a side note you’ll get this in a couple months or less which is on average at least 6-12 months faster than a Neo or Lenzi.

    • @FClassJohn
      @FClassJohn  Před 3 lety

      @@Rico11b There’s not really much you can do to modify it other than I have seen different front bags put in it to accommodate whatever kind of stock you have. You can terret apart and clean it up which gets rid of some of the greediness but other than that it’s just a really nice unit for the money and pretty tough to beat if you don’t want to spend top dollar for the high-end units. I have no problem recommending these to people who are getting started and don’t have a lot of money to spend.

      @br4713 Před 3 lety +1

      @@theguess5899 Hi, if it's a bit like benchrest shooting, what makes the real difference is your ability to read the wind, because everyone must have a top level gear and reloading. Top gear and top ammo is just part of the basics, otherwise it would limit the shooter's maximum performance. Think about formula one racing, what happens if you give the best car to the worse pilot, or the worst car to the best pilot ?

      No nerves struck at all. Without skill you won’t win, guaranteed.
      You can show up to any f class match with an off the shelf rifle and bipod and you can enter. You won’t win but you will definitely get better.
      If your goal is to win, you’ll need good gear. If your goal is to get better, then just show up and shoot with what you have.

    • @dieseldan5189
      @dieseldan5189 Před 3 lety

      Sarcasm, when properly applied, bites. I support all shooting disciplines. However, I am not going to show up at any matches because powder and especially primers are unavailable. Only two companies produce primers in this country and they have a one year ammo backlog to fill. Don’t expect to see any primers in the next couple of years.
