- In this video, we head up to the Mojave Desert for a quick overnight camping trip to celebrate Mama Goose's birthday. Considering we had two of our daughters come along with us on this trip, as well as Sierra, we decided to leave the iKamper Rooftop Tent at home & spent the night in a ground tent.
We did some wheeling', cooking & just had an overall good trip with some friends we met up with. We even were lucky enough to see some bighorn sheep nearby.

One of my favorite and last 4x4 trips while living in So Cal was on the Old Mojave Rd. The group I went with drove the road west to east. Seeing video of Afton Canyon brings back fond memories.

I heard a rumor that they dumped some gravel in there to make it not as deep…

Yes, the river crossing is filled in...supposedly it it is just temp fill while the railroad is doing work in the area. All the rock is supposed to be removed soon after the work is done. This video was intensely wholesome. Also, I had no idea you had so large a family, so when I saw you cooking all that food, as is often the case with camping oriented youtubers, I made the internal joke to no one by myself that you must be cooking to feed an invisible army...but then I saw the campfire scene and saw your army was just off camera. And it all made sense.

FYI - Go an amazon and search for "Tent Stakes for Sand",.....you'll find a number of good solutions for stakes that will always work great in the desert.
I have sand stakes...I just didn’t bring them. LOL

hey man, we are heading back out there today for a few days. We just love it. That day you went there we were checking out the lava tubes and camped at Granite Mountains by Budweiser Springs.
We had a blast running the trails in that area near the lava tubes a few months ago? Have fun
What happened to the iKamper? Are you getting rid of that too? How easy was it to remove the iKamper? Did you use a pulley / winch type system? Do you keep the iKamper laid on top of saw horses? TIA for your response! Great vids! Keep up the great work!
No, I still have it. I just didn’t put it back on top of the Jeep after removing it to replace the awning. Taking it off, is generally me and one of my buddies, but even my daughters and Goose helps me from time to time.

I still have the iKamper..but it goes on my Jeep and I run the Rhino Rack. My daughter has the DeeZee and she uses my old ARB RTT.
That awning is nice just gotta figure out how to mount it with my rooftop tent on the bedrack
The brackets it comes with are very well thought out, as far as the layout for using different types of hardware for mounting purposes. Happy Trails
not sure if this was mentioned or not, but if the stakes aren't holding into the ground, you could use small/medium bags, fill with the sand/gravel, and anchor them down at least.

I took it off to replace the awning, and just haven't put it back on yet...Bele is enjoying parking in the garage again...I'll add it back soon enough. I really enjoy that RTT
