    Bjork is a genre. The genre of Bjork. Thanks for the reaction it’s great to hear this, I can’t believe it’s over 25yo now. Clearly I don’t have enough Bjork in my life

    I read that when she first got to London she had never seen Bollywood movies, and those violin / drum parts were inspired from watching Indian films. A truly great artist is always integrating and filtering their surroundings into their art.

    It’s so cute to see your first reaction to Bjork’s music 😃 I assumed everyone knew about her since the 90’s but then I’m European. I love all her music but especially Debut, Post and Vespertine 💕

    Please listen to more of her. One thing you’ll find is how much she really cares about music, so production is always on point, and it’s always a journey with her - some highlights : Undo, Jóga, Where is The Line, Thunderbolt, Blissing Me

    Just pronounce it easily as "b'yourk". This is one of my fav songs of her besides "family", "it's oh so quiet", "oceania", "big time sensuality", "bachelorette", "stonemilker", and "arisen my senses"

    She did a remix of Tribe called Quest "Stressed Out". I love her innovative style. She has included many found sound effects in her music, she is great. She is a great example of a creative artist in the industry, unafraid of what critics think of her.

    She has some great music. It isn't so popular but has some great sound and productions. This song is in the movie "the professional " and what got me to hear her music. You need to watch her videos they are just as crazy as her music.

    Finally nice to see someone who really gets Bjork..:the production quality..the unique sound and voice, etc. I would say start with the hits from her first three albums from “Debut” on. Really great avant-garde stuff from the. 90’s.

  • @Grithron2
    @Grithron2 Před 3 lety +4

    Something you hear a lot of in this song, and other songs from the pre-2005 era, is Bjork's unique brand of scat-vocalising which could fool someone into thinking she was singing in a foreign language (but not Icelandic). It was maybe the most unusual and unique feature of her music and it's a shame she hardly uses it anymore.
    I'm of the opinion that her last masterpiece was the Medulla album and since then she's been decaying - vocally, creatively and "politically". But her entire pre-2007 catalog is definitely worth studying in great detail (going all the way back to her first documented band Tappi Tikarass, and taking in all the many slightly-obscure collaborations and guest appearances).
    But the whole Icelandic music scene of the '80s and '90s is rather fascinating.

  • @storageheater
    @storageheater Před 3 lety +2

    I am so charmed by the little pronunciation diversion, I've never seen anyone else bother. An extra note to what else was keeping her busy over the last 40 years, her concerts are usually a BIG production - she did a pair of concerts where she redid everything just backed by a string quartet (there's not a whole lot of it officially recorded, but "Hyperballad" got a splendid Brodsky Quartet session.) And one of her albums was released as a series of arty interactive apps where you could sort of mess with visuals and instrumentation as the song played, which is somehow linked to an actual educational program she spearheaded. So... quite busy then lol
    www.rollingstone.com/music/music-news/bjorks-biophilia-heading-to-european-classrooms-108106/
    The guy responsible for the string arrangements on this was Talvin Singh, he later got her to re-record one of her singles (Possibly Maybe - Calcutta Cyber Cafe Mix) in the traditional slightly nasal Indian style and it's lovely

    Bjork (Bee-Yerk) is one of the few Artists who's Sound and Visuals style is So Unique and Instantly Recognizable. Her Catalog is 😘👌🙌🙌🙌. This is off her 1st Solo Album , aptly named, Debut. Its not as Cohesive as her future projects, however introduced the World to wat was to Come. I don't say this about many Artists, But she's Def 1 who's work must be listened in Chronological order.
    Her 2nd album, POST, is 🤯🤯. HYPERBALLAD , is a MUST MUST MUST LISTEN.
