When I click on the template link I made, it shows 2 options: the top one is "edit template" and the bottom one is "use template for new design" ... obviously my customers need to click the 2nd one, but some people click "edit template" and now they have access to the master template... how do i change this?!
Make sure you are sharing it as a "Template Link" and not a "Brand Template Link"

Question for you! If you used elements from Canva pro in the design - when you sell your templates, would the customer still be able to access the whole design if they did not have a Canva pro account? Hope that makes sense.
Yes. I recommend letting them know that the design contains Pro elements.

Yes you can lock elements however the customer can unlock them.

Hi, im very confused about bleed and cropmarks. Do you have a video for this? Generally, printing shops want a bleed so do I design my template as a 5x7 or a 5x7 + bleed measurement? Please help.
You can change your print bleed settings in Canva, File ->ViewSettings->Show Print Bleed. I currently don't have a video that shows this.

Yes you can! There are websites that allow you to create short links. My go to is Bitly.

No, that's not necessary. The format jpeg, png, or pdf only matters if you are going to download the design. With templates, you are not downloading the design you're sharing access to it with the template link. Hope that makes sense.

If you are trying to share the same template to multiple customers, do you need to change up each link for each customer by copying and pasting that original thank you page you created into another document so it generates a new link or would this be from the original work you created to share?
You only need to generate the link 1 time and share it.

What if you have pro elements in your template? Can anyone make changes to it or would they have to have the pro ver.
Good question.
If your templates have Canva Pro elements, you need be sure to share them as a Canva template, which will redirect the customer to edit the templates in Canva. The customer will need to have a Canva Pro account in order to download the design with Canva Pro elements. Or they will need to remove the Pro elements before downloading if they don't have or want to upgrade to a Canva Pro account.

No. A customer can edit any part of the template. You won't have access to their design.

You can create a PDF download, embed the ebook or design link in the PDF, and share the PDF with your customers.
When the person opens the canva template, does it matter if they press "edit template" or "use template for new design"? Will it affect my original Canva document?
Canva recognizes that it is your template link .So if you're logged into your Canva account, you're gonna see the option to "Edit template link." If you want to test your template link, open it an incognito window and test the link. You should only see "Use template for a new design."

No, you don't need Canva Pro to edit it. However, if the template has Canva Pro elements, you will need Canva Pro to download it with Pro elements.

i created an i am attending flier. I want to share link with paid ticket holders. Where they are able to click on the canva link and add their photo to the photo frame and download. Do I need to lock the element or just send the public link
No need to lock the element. Using a public view link means everyone with the link can edit. I would recommend creating a template link.
What happens if the customer purchases the template but they do not yet have a canva account - free or pro.
Do they get taken to the CANVA sign-up home page first to sign-up, and then the template opens for them?
Yes the template link will take them to Canva. If they don't have an account they will be prompted to sign up.
Great video, but I wonder what if I would like to do some changes in my original template, but I already created a template link for the older version and listed it. Shall I create a new link or it will save my changes to the same template link. I hope you understand what I mean :)
No, you don't have to create a new template link. Anyone with the template link will have access to the changes you make.

I was told once I create the template link it will only be active for 7 days and also if I make changes the person I shared the link with won’t be able to see it . 🥴

When you share your design as a template link, it will not be deleted or expire and it will still live unless you delete the live generated template link.
If you make some changes of the design you need to generate a new template link and share it again.
Question: Why does your template only say "Use Template" at the bottom? When I click my copied link, it has both "Edit Template" and "Use Template for a New Design". Seeing these makes me nervous. Thanks!
Canva has made some updates since the recording of this video. It should only say use template for a new design.
How about if I want to share a guest book so only a viewing option, but not take viewer to canva just to view the document?
You can try the embed option to embed it on your website. So you can direct viewers to your website to view the document. This option will require you to know how to code.
So can I apply the template link to my eBook? I have my eBook saved as PDF but my template is said to be customizable. I do have my cover pages customizable but I don't think the actual eBook that I saved as PDF is editable.

You have to make sure you are sharing your design as a "template" using the template link. If you just use the share copy link this will let people change your original design.
I guess my question is how does the customer get the download? Like after they pay for it on Shopify, how do they download the instruction template?
Most of the time is by email. When the customer makes a purchase, they will receive an email with a link to access or download the instructions template.
Hi There, Thank you so much for posting this tutorial. I have followed the directions exactly. When my customers purchase off of etsy and follow the link. It asks them to request permission from me to edit the design. Once i grant permission it is allowing them to edit the original and not making a copy. Help please I think I am missing something
You're using the share link, which is the wrong link. You need to use the "Template Link". If you don't see the "Template link" you need to click the share button and search the word "template". Then you should be able to see it. Rewatch the beginning of the video to see how to generate your template link.

No, you don't need a Canva Pro account if you want to share your videos as a template for your customers to edit. You may want to have a Canva Pro account just to have access to additional features to help you create your videos.

How you prevent client from reselling your template by sharing the template link?
Unfortunately, there's not a way to fully prevent someone from reselling your template link or sharing your template link. Make sure you have a clear and solid license agreement and terms of use for your templates. If necessary, you may need to pursue legal action.
Okay so I have two canva accounts and I'm trying to share my old items in my folder to my new camera account but when I type in my name it doesn't pop up why is that?
It's really hard to pinpoint the issue without seeing your dashboard. Here are a few options: 1. check the shared with you option, this will be on the left side panel of your homepage dashboard. 2. From your old account create a share/edit link, save this link, log out of the old account and login to the new, open the link from your new account. Hope this helps.

If you use Pro elements in your template design, then your customers will need Canva Pro.
Creating a QR code could be a good idea instead of a button ... Just a suggestion.
QR codes could be used, but if someone is using their phone to access the templates, they wouldn't be able to scan the QR code. I find that QR codes work best for printed materials. Thanks for the suggestion.
What if I’m creating there template for them to just send them to print out!
Leaving them to not need to do any editing as I’m creating exactly what they want?
You could just download the file, upload the file to your platform and when the customer makes a purchase the file will be delivered to the customer
i think you can do that but the chance for selling is less compared to editable option!
I've tried downloading the images from a shared link and it won't allow me. Is that how shared templates work? just editing but no downloading?
You should be able to download it. Without seeing what you're possibly doing wrong, it's hard for me to say.
I’m currently working on my first listing. I sent my pdf link to family members to make sure that they can edit the template, but after they create the Canva account it won’t let them change the text. It says that the page needs to be unlocked but I don’t know how to fix that. 😢😢
Hi. 1st double check you are using the template link to share your designs. 2nd check to make sure you don't have the text locked. If see the lock icon when you hover over the text, it's locked. To unlock it you will click on the lock icon. Hope this helps.

Unfortunately, you can't prevent people from sharing your template link. Your best option is to have strong and clear license agreements or terms and conditions. You could possibly pursue legal action.

thank you! does it matter what it says in the combo box: can view or can edit or it is not relevant.
It depends on how you want to share your design. If you want to share it so others can view/edit your design you will use the copy link change it to "can view" or "can edit". If you want to share your design as a template, this will allow others to get a copy of your design and the won't be able to make changes to your original design. You will need to share your design using the "template link" option.

If the link is “anyone can access” doesn’t that mean the customers can send the link to others?
This means anyone can access and make changes. All links can be shared. If you don't want them to make changes, make sure to use the template link. If you don't want your customers to share the link, this should be stated in your terms or license agreement.
