Hello Alec, you are correct. Without watching this video, I tried this technique with the same brand finish but it was called “flat out flat” and not “dead flat.” It was left over from when I re-finished our cabinets. It’s a good top coat finish for sure. Like you did, I put on 2 coats, but then put a black wash on the piece with a 3rd “flat on flat” top coat to seal. I think it did what I was wanting to do, a non-shiney - monotone - coat. Thanks for the video.

Good too know. As you were finishing I was wondering about cottonwood bark. I struggle with finishes darkening cottonwood which is frustrating. I'm anxious to start using this and hoping to have the same results. Plus I always like using water base products whenever possible. Thanks for sharing this.
Yes, really liking this one! No problem!
I never use polyurethane. It will yellow it darken later on.
My favorite to use is shellac. I’ve done a lot of woodworking too. From carving, marquetry, and fine furniture.

@AlecLaCasseArt Don't think you mentioned walrus oil this time, but it does darken my cedar, which is completely welcomed by me. I love that it drys matte, too.

Does this finish darken after a while?
Polyurethane will.
I would never use that stuff.
Shellac is better.
