Those bells have been chiming the minutes and hours away almost non stop from 11 July 1859 up until 2017. They have been reconnecting the chiming and striking trains up to the bells 1 at a time. I watched a video of the mechanism playing the chimes recently and i am blown away by how smooth it now runs. It obviously used to sound clangy and squeaky post 2017 but now it runs like silk. They really have been lets say... Working around the clock?😂
London is my favorite city in the world, and Big Ben is the reason why. Earlier this year, I was in London during a college trip and I was in London from august 4th to august 7th. Although I didn’t hear Big Ben, I still got to see it up close in person without the scaffolding for the first time since my visit to London in 2017. And boy am I glad to hear it is finally coming back from renovation! 🇬🇧 🔔 🕰
It's coming back permanently on Remembrance Sunday November 13 2022! That's: 1910 days or 5 years, 2 months, 23 days since it was turned off on August 21, 2017.

I assume those Flood Lights that illuminated the belfry at night are being changed to L.E.D versions. They installed energy efficient lighting as part of the renovation. So i guess they are still wiring the lights up. Plus with them being L.E.D they can probably change colour on occasion like pink for cancer awareness for example. The green band is Iconic though.
@@gcgames_ Yes that is what i am talking about. Above the faces. the green floodlights that illuminated the belfry just below the roof. Those lights had a green lens and could only display green but the new lights will be able to change. So the tower will be able to put on light shows like the empire state building.
@@gcgames_ May of been over exposure or possibly a trick of the light. Those lamps had an emerald green shine. Though recently the top has been illuminated with a soft yellow/white light to match the rest of the building at night.
@@gcgames_ oh yes I seem to remember that light as well. I have no idea, I guess they must have removed that light. I know the exact light u mean now. The warm white light that lit the whole tower.

It is very dark out there. When i went to london i filmed the 9PM chimes too but it was still very light outside.

Big ben sounds like Kreuzglocke at Dresden... It's the easiest way to hear big Ben tolling with a clapper as a normal bell 😂
