Yeah, I was thinking that I was doing a "fast castle" that averaged about 20min with two stables constantly producing knights with upgrades to attack the enemy with a handful of knights by ~22minutes or so. For those that dont know what sling is, it is teammates tributing resources to you in the early game and staying in feudal or castle while bumping you up to castle/imp to make alot of army and crush enemies early.

Edit#1: Yes he also loves tower rush a bit too much, to the point of tilting even pros like Jordan_23. And Spring always kicks Tatoh out of lobby due to PTSD.

Christ can you imagine the fear you'd put in someone going to feudal at 6 MINUTES - like even if it's not as economically viable to scout-rush from there - the sheer amount of panic that's going to put in the other player is bananas.
If you just get up a tower and put everyone on wood and stone, could you imagine seeing towers around your base at 7 minutes in? xD
But here's the thing, defences are nice n all but they don't hamper your opponent - ages (and the offensive potential feudal and castle bring in particular) do!
If your opponents fast age up causes you to overreact with towers and messing up your economy then that's as good as scouts harassing those villagers off of more useful and relevant resources.
I think Daniel meant tower rushing your enemy. Imagine having your base surrounded by couple of enemuy towers in minute 8-9. Thats a nightmare material right there xD
^ exaclty, I mean tower rushing someone so quickly and they will likely not even be going up to feudal yet at that point.
I'm torn between probability of resignation, walling up to boom, or trying to spam with dark age units.
Honestly SOTL, I consider you more of an AOE scientist, rather than an expert memer hahaha.

INTERVIEWS?! This is a new level in your channel. Congrats! I'd like to see more in the future, or maybe a section dedicated to. My argentinean pride would love you to interview Nicov, but other expert gamers like Twigg (argentinean, lol), MBL, TheViper, MrYo, DauT, Slam, etc. Even other channels like Zero Empires, that could be like a podcast. Enought for requests.
Just two little comments: koreans do have a Dark Age bonus. When your vils have extra LOS, helps you find your resources faster. Saved my ass in nomad once. And then, you might also have different vil count depending on the eco bonuses like celts wood cutting, etc.
By the way, huns weren't even mentioned...maybe, it was way too obvious...

Could you do a video/series on "what skills newer/bad players should focus on"? For example, you don't start worrying about advance times or civilization perks before you learn unit counters, basic economy and general map stategies (water? no water? cliffs/hills? gold rush?).
I'd imagine most of the audience are pretty bad (like myself) so it'd be pretty useful knowing the important things to focus on.
The kind of "skill" level i'm talking about - forgetting there are boars; getting housed 24/7; forgetting advancement buildings; not knowing much about civ bonuses (apart from special units and maximum unit upgrades); forgetting there's an imperial age and sitting there with 2k all resources; remembering a smithy exists in late imperial age...

Also I would like to propose a subject for a future video, one introducing the pro-playing scene nowadays, with maybe interviews with some of the top broadcasters/commenters, such as zeroempires, memb, resonance, and who knows, even some top players.
For some people like me who´ve been away from the game for a long time and only recently started watching some of your videos and exploring other channels related, it would be really interesting to konw who these people are, where they come from, etc... since these are the people who maintained the interest on this game for so long

Can't say how much I appreciate these videos, i've gotten so much better after binge watching your uploads. Went from finding standard too easy and moderate too hard, and now I find moderate too easy and Hard too difficult.

Awesome video. It seems my problem was clicking a little early into Feudal (21-22 vils) for Fast Castle, since I usually can't click into Castle with just two vils in between (maybe in maps with more food than normal only, like Yucatan and others).
And TaToH is awesome! he is very close to the community and his guides are great (he also is the only one that makes guides in Spanish I think).

Also a very important and interesting argument about advancing (especially for imperial) is that advancing self isn't the most important thing.
Utilizing the advance is just as important. Maybe you can you have just the economy to advance but you don't have the economy to actually utilize that advantage or lead it can maybe even be bad.
This is why knight rushes are common for fast castles. You can make knights immediately as soon as you get to the Castle Age, no additional research required. It's the same reason Feudal rushes tend to be archers or scouts, rather than men-at-arms.
Otherwise, yes, there's no reason to advance unless you're going to immediately start getting something that requires you to have advanced. That means you should either research a critical tech or start building new units/buildings as soon as you go up in age.
As far as I'm aware, the Imperial Age doesn't give access to any new units (except the trebuchet), so anything you do in the Imperial Age will require you to research something first. Unless you are the Turks and get Chemistry free.
This is absolutely one of the best videos Sotl made. His videos always gives good points but sometimes makes me feel lack of pro perspectives. This is the one that really puts his video to a new lv.

I really like the idea of an ,, radio interview '' ! It's cool how you explain something and after it you talked with the expert. But some information you gave us before he told us again. Probably next time you could interview the expert FIRST and after that you go into detail and explain what the Expert really said. Or something like that.

pretty nice idea to interview high level players.would be a cool idea to have that as a monthly thing. maybe with a difference high level, well known player
I've been experimenting with the hardest AI going up to fedual with 25 villagers and castle with 42 villagers + wheelbarrow researched (no idle time) with huns. Against the computer it's worked really well for me. By the time you get to castle you have a huge amount of resources so you can get a large group of cavalry archers with all the available upgrades essentially immedietly. Probably wouldn't work so well against a human player but I've found it to work better against the computer than going for a quick time. Going for a quick time often results in you being unable to do anything when you hit the next age as you don't have any resources to make use of it. Having lots of villagers and the upgrades through the age research time makes you very efficient in castle I think
Hey Spirit Of The Law, not sure if somebody spotted that before me, but I just wanted to let you know that there is a typo in your video: at 07:11 you say that the minimum time for a FC with 25 vils (+2 in feudal) is 15:15. The correct time is instead the one you write at 05:28, i.e. 14:50. Thanks for the great job btw!
