Making a Car Part with Polyurethane Injection Molding

- Continuous improvement is better than delayed perfection. As we have gathered more experience in the process of manufacturing polyurethane products in California we have learned many different methods for making such molds. The most lucrative way to make the mold is through fiberglass which requires a plug, but is more labor intensive. Another way is to use CNC machines to make them out of aluminum, which is a bit more costly, but more efficient. Since everything is done through 3D applications.
We use both methods the mold being show cased in this video was made through fiberglass mold making.

try running a silicone bead around the edge of the mould just past the part line. basically make your own seal, would eliminate most if not all of the flashing. it would be worth doing a new one every time but you could possibly reuse it. just a 2mm bead with a caulking gun would do it, you can wait until it's surface set then compress to flatten it so it won't add to edge thickness of the part
You'd probably be able to get decent money making 93-95 Lincoln Mark VIII grilles.
Does the machine mix the urethane as it's injecting it? I've wanted to cast a lot of stuff at once and I always either had to use a urethane with a long cure time or risk having it cure before I was finished pouring it.
I would love to see the process of maki g the mold, and the mix ratio for the urethane, so I'll know how to do it and what equipment I will need. Looks nice.

I need toyota mr2 front bumper 91 any chance you have one for a decent price the car had a ferarri front conversion bumper that is destroyed due to a bad tow but I would take a factory looking bumper at this point most of the ones I have seen are old ate up pitted or torn just looking for a nice one.
Im trying to figure this out with a fleet customer of mine he need exterior body parts for the type of semi-trucks he has can it be done.
Question...could a mold be made to create a replacement for old metal bubble skirts from the 50s with Polyurethane skirts? Know anyone in southern California??

What type of machine does this injection? I make bicycle parts and would love to use something similar. Really cool process.
Reaction injection molding machine.. also known as RIM molding
Make a cavity FRP mold with injection port and start pumping parts out.. isocyanate + polyol are used.. you can choose density as per your application
If you dont have access to a RIM machine consider going in for polyurethane casting.. you can do that in your garage

Why are my side louvers I just bought from Vicrez for 2016 challengers not made from PUR plastic? they are thick a rubbery, dull plastic with bubbles all in it. They dont match my PUR rear louvers at all. I would like to exchange or have you make some for me.
dude the parts in the video are urethane which is a rubber substitute... it will probably be exactly the same as what you have......
