It's only when you really think about it that you realise how incredible it was that they got all those expressions to work. To think it's all plaster, latex and animatronics with a real person underneath and NOT CGI is phenomenal - not to mention so much more believable.
I actually loved this show so much as a kid I did a drawing of it for one the pieces needed for my Art GCSE lol, I think it was a mixed media piece if I remember rightly XD
When I worked on this I thought it was shite ( apart from the model shots), but when you see some of the crap that comes out nowadays using CGI. I think it holds up rather well.
This show just like Buck Rogers need a comeback through a reimagined reboot or something but keep the essence of the show which is that somehow humans become an interstellar species within our lifetimes which was unheard of at the time. The show never explained how but it was probably that Earth was attacked or invaded and they joined other aliens fighting the Alien empire that has subjugated their worlds or an alliance against such a force etc. that pushed humanity centuries forward technologically.
@@GerryAndersonTV Will this show be coming to Blu-ray at some point? Old shows on film with models and miniatures like this benefit from a HD/4K remaster massively. Bet a Blu-ray release will sell well.
@@PimpTwzt They would have to do like what Paramount did with Star Trek: The Next Generation. You would have to go back to the original camera negatives and possible have to re-render all digital effects. Paramount took their time doing ST. Not impossible but probably expensive.
Would have loved for that show to succeed but nothing felt liked it worked & was nowhere near the quality of Space 1999. Everything felt hurried... i hate saying & writing this as Gerry was awesome.
For me it never quite clicked - something was missing. Perhaps more of a background story as to how the trading post was developed and how on Earth we got there without FTL travel .
Watching this show in 2021 as I'm making this comment it's just offputting to think it's all set in near future of 2040. Yet you have humans outside our own solar system mixing with Aliens, and fighting crime in flying Police vehicles ? Gerry Anderson made the same mistake unfortunately with Space 1999 and should of set the show much further ahead in say...early 22nd century, entertaining programme though.

This should definitely get a bluray release. The show is fantastic.
Its way overdue
I have fond memories of watching this show in the 90s.

A show somewhat ahead of it's time.

To bad Netflix or Amazon did not exist. Then I think this show would have lasted more then one season.

Lack of American syndication/network sales forced the show's cancellation after only one season.

In hindsight this feels like a spiritual precursor to Farscape.

It kinda gives me the vibes of the show being a mix of Dinosaurs TV series and MST3K
