Florida Trail - Big Cypress Day 2 of 2

- Second day in the swamp. It is cold, drizzly and relentless. Hypothermia is a concern. We push thru hard and make it all the way through during a very wet time post late season storms. In the end, an AWESOME but hard two day excursion into the Florida wilderness.
Props to you guys 👏👏👏for making it as fast as you did, and with a good attitude.
A friend of mine and I (he’s 68, I’m 65) hiked from I-75 to Ivy Camp and back in knee deep water. The only “dry” sections were the area where that bench is and the swamp buggy road that leads back to the trailhead. It took us a little over 6 hours. But…I can’t wait to get back out there 😎
That’s awesome man! That’s a feat for sure. It’s amazing how tough it can be yet beautiful. I definitely recommend at least a group of 2 even if your 21. It’s relentless out there. From Oasis to 10 mile isn’t too bad but after that it picks up.
wow i've only hiked above okeechobee but it was while the water was high. good luck and God Bless The Critter Family

Great accomplishment and attitude along the way. So awesome to see your experience. I have been sectioning the AT and want to start doing sections of the FT since I live here. What pack are yall using? I am a big guy and trying to get my pack weight down
You should do it for sure! I think I’m going to do a break down video. I used a vannaheimr 45+5 liter pack. I was at 29.5 lbs without water. Water was everywhere so we used sawyer filters to save weight. Stay tuned for a video where I break down questions. This place is tough but so awesome. Every AT and other hiker told me this is the roughest trail they’d ever done.

We are section hiking it but will be doing east. We aren’t far from Bull Creek and Three Lakes where the trail runs thru. We’ll video as we go.

Have you hiked the trails on the north side of I-75?

We’ve done quite a few sections now and videoed them. Looking forward to completing the whole thing hopefully before 365 days total
