    I am a university English teacher in Changchun, Jilin, China. 😊 This was my fear; luckily, I haven’t experienced this in China. :) I think it is more visible in elementary and high school levels. Just like you, I have had the same thinking “I need to prove that I am good enough” 🙂 Pero sa university I felt the love and appreciation of the kids. I wanna be an instrument din for them to see that Filipinos can make a difference, and yun ung fulfillment ko sa China. Can’t wait to go back this year after three years of staying in the Philippines. God bless you. 🙌🏻

    Thank you for sharing your story. As a fellow Filipina I'm currently going through the same thing. People from schools would ask where I'm from and once they hear "Philippines" they would instantly tell me "not suitable"

    Currently in our 8th year in Wuhan. We we're teaching at the Northeast of China before moving to Wuhan..total 15 years na kami nagtuturo in China...lucky ang siguro kaming mag asawa na hindi kami nakaranas ng ganong discrimination. Minsan lang akong sinabihan ng nanay ng classmate ng anak ko na pinay daw yong aye nila--- sinagot ko rin ng ' wow! insik lang din aye namin'🤪... which is totoo rin naman dati. Ngayon wala nang aye lasi mahal na daily wage nila:)

      hahahaha.. I love the sagot na intsik din ang aye namin..true..Mostly sa training centers grabeh talaga discrimination , mga parents nag dedemand tlaga, grabeh iyak ko nung una, ang mamahal daw kasi ng tuition nila kaya may say daw tlaga sila kung sino gusto nila.. 22 lang ako nun..:( pero charge it to experience nalng tlaga..:) Thank You Lord pa rin..:)

    Hi! I wanna ask how the weather conditions affect your daily life in China? Does it rain a lot or is it mostly cloudy? When I researched about the weather quality, I found out air pollution is an important problem. Cheers!

    • @nikkamuir
      @nikkamuir  Před rokem +1

      Depends where you go in China.. If you are going to a city where factories are then pollution would be of concern.. Of course there will be bad air day and good air day .. it isn't always polluted in China. In my city, air pollution gets unhealthy during winter and lasts for about 5 weeks.. this problem however is not a daily occurrence during that time span. In summer it is dry and humid most of the time, sometimes it rains in my city.. China is a massive country so the weather condition in each city or province will really depend on its geographical location.

    • @KonyaTribun
      @KonyaTribun Před rokem

      Thank you Nikka for answering. I'm asking this question about Chengdu city because I got job offer from there. Do you know what is the exact situation in this city? And which city do you live in right now?

    • @nikkamuir
      @nikkamuir  Před rokem +1

      I have been living in Chengdu since 2015.. Winter air quality is the only concern since the city is in a basin and surrounded by mountains.. so the air and light pollution can't really exit easily. Most of the time the weather is great. Doesn't rain a lot here but for sure summer will get the most rainfall, some sporadic rain all through out the year though.. Sometimes when pollution becomes really bad , buses and subways offer free rides since personal cars aren't encouraged to be used by the local government. People learn how to live with it and adjust, we just mask up when it gets really bad. it doesn't happen often though.

    It is not actually a discrimination if you think about it. Let me put it this, if you were gonna send your kid to learn Japanese, would you like the teacher a native Japanese teacher or an African American or a Thai who have already mastered Japanese? this will answer your question. If your answer is the Japanese Teacher, will that make you a racist? China is a Confucian society, education is everything to Chinese parents, they simply want the best in everything. The legit rule for hiring English teacher in CHina is the teacher should come from English spoken countries such US, UK, Canada, Australia, NZ, and South Africa, you have to remember that, and thanks to your passion in teaching, the school obviously saw that, you have passed the qualification and they bypass the rule.
