When Mr Mohan Rao couldn’t find a job in Bengaluru after completing his engineering degree, he hired a cook from Nellore and began a restaurant in 1981. Over time Hotel Navayuga became popular amongst its patrons for the biryanis, kebabs and fries. Its patrons include not just with the common man and hordes of travelers given its location in Gandhinagar, but its fare has also endeared itself to luminaries of Karnataka, most noteworthy being the Dr Rajkumar parivar.
I was told about this place by Karnataka Ratna, Dr. Puneeth Rajkumar, Appu Sir, and more recently shared a meal with his nephew, Vinay Rajkumar and Anushree when I tasted some of Dr Puneeth Rajkumar’s most favourite dishes here. In this Gourmet On The Road episode, I return to taste some of the delicacies that have transformed Hotel Navayuga from an eatery that was born out of the need for a livelihood to a Bengaluru culinary icon.

My mother and my grandpa are big fans of this hotel. She always tell tells me this story, in 1993 when she was pregnant and had the urge to eat Navayug's mutton biryani, my grandpa went to Gulbarga from Bhadravathi and brought her to Bengaluru so that she can eat mutton biryani and took her back to Gulbarga.

I had my first meal at Navayuga in 1989 when I was working in a bank as an official, the cost was 15.00 the other items too chicken kebab is typical mouth watering, Bengaluru style, that time there was no fish item,, no doubt that Shri Rajkumar and Appu ji liked this place.
Only small draw back is that when you enter inside some sort of old unhygienic smell emanates even in the AC section also.
My last meal here was in 2016.I A.M from Hyderabad, been there many times good food. Your reviews are honest. Do keep it up but try to point out the deficiencies so that the owners will attempt to rectify them.

Navyug hotel is more remembered for that photo where annavru is enjoying and secondly it is the first authenticated Andhra style hotel in Bangalore.
Had been to this hotel recently and I really thought it was a wedding feast since the crowd was so overwhelming, But the food was damn gud which made me break a gud amount of happy sweat 🙆🏻♂️

No doubt the food at Navayuga is exquisite. But they badly need a facelift because the ambience is doing them no justice for their food. They should maybe consider re doing the interior. Even opening up a new branch or two.
They should open couple of more branches in Bangalore. In Majestic area. too congested
