Thank you so much. I inherited my planer from my uncle, and instructions were lost. After I put my new blade in I noticed the magnetic blade gauges, which I could tell were important but I didn't know how to use. Without the gauges' help, my blade cut but would not pull the board through. Will try to re-adjust using your technique and the gauges...I bet it will work perfectly. Again, thank you!
Thanks SO much! Instructions were totally self-explanatory, all the tools were there on the planer (as you noted) and I changed my blades for the first time in years, in 1/2 an hour!
Very helpful video, I purchased the 733 second hand, and the tools were all missing. I am glad to have watched this video prior to attempting the blade replacement, and was able to obtain the magnetic blade setting blocks and allen key online. I figure the open end and sockets are standard sizes. Again, thanks alot Don.
fillister head machine screws, haven't heard that one before, i think they are actually called socket head cap screws, nice video, i will meditate on this
Good video. As i have just bought this model from a friend.I very much enjoyed your video. This for me is a new tool in my wood working projects. Was wondering how you sharpened your blades so clean? Again thanks Postalbob
Greetings and thanks for the detailed video. If I heard you correctly, you said you sharpened your second set of knives. How???? And at what degree? I'm currently knee deep in a project with Hickory and I'm on first name basis with my sharpener. Love to attempt sharpening myself.
@@donaldporta thank you for the reply Donald! It was happening even with 0.5mm. Watched so many videos and it turns out all I needed to do was re wax the base 🤦🏻♂️. It had ‘gummed’ up I think the term is!
@@rafalrafal8977 Hi Rafal, I used Triplewax car polish but I think any car polish would work just to give it a smooth surface. Hope you get it sorted, it’s really annoying .
I think the 733 is the only Dewalt model that needs the magnetic guides. Definitely a design defect. That must be why I got mine for such a good deal. ha,ha

Top job Don. Grateful thanks.
I now feel confident to do this without reading the manual.
Gotta love CZcams...
a quick question if I may...
in UK are there any non De Walt blades that work well??
my idea of a perfect video. Clear with no extra nonsense.

Exactly what I needed!!!!

Thanks but does anyone know where the location of the guides are on the 733 type 2 model - thanks
Great video, thanks.
Sabes donde conseguir los calibradores magnéticos? muchas gracias
Wich guide jig for setup knife you use, please?
Very helpful, thanks!
Good job sharpening those long blades. What method did you use?
Mine didn't come with those magnets or the wrench :( Can you buy them after market? Great video, to the point, just how it should be. Thank you.
Thank you very much sire it’s very helpful I never did it yet but I see how now thank you very much
Happy to help

robert helveston very useful
thank you!
Thanks for sharing, your video is very useful and easy to follow. The owner's manual is awful.
Thanks man.. just swapped blades with help of this video.. I love CZcams
glad it helped!
Thanks helped a lot!
Glad to hear it!
Much appreciated!
Thanks so much for taking the time to do this unit. I was befuddled by their poor directions.
Several of the videos on the DWS 33 planer left out critical steps or didn’t explain what they were doing well!
Very helpful thanks :-)
Thank you!!
Thank you.
Where and how did you get that magnet and I am assuming it holds the blade back while tightening..
They should be mounted on the cover that is removed.

Pk Landfried I sharpen mine with a Makita power sharpener to 40 degrees. The stock knives were like 35 degrees.
where can you buy the magnets , my machine didn't come with any
I'm not sure if you can buy them
If it didn't come with it maybe you can ask for a replacement part?

Have you ever had issues with this planer not feeding properly? Mine gets stuck all the time
only if I am taking too much cut, or the wood is rough cut and the rollers aren't making good contact with the board,

Welcome
where would one get the magnets for setting the blade?
they are with the planner

They should be in the tool storage area. The wrench is in the middle of them
Mines a pos alignment problem. One blade gouges the HELL outta it, the other one is lazoid.
Thank you.
The factory instructions were pretty unclear when it came to the knife gauges.
Yeah, I’ve had problems aligning one bladeo to the other.

Are the magnetic setting jigs hidden on the planer somewhere?
They are in the tool storage. He puts them back where they should be
Thanks, Downloaded the manual and that's what it showed. Had to order some as they were missing.
@@raabsand “”he puts them back where they are stored””
how many knives are there
Two knives
Teşekkür ederim
Two in this model 3 in the 734
i dont get magnets... no magnets in box...
Good job using a blockk to rotate the cylinder. I nicked my thumb on some new blades. They’re WICKED SHARAP.
Those are cap head screws (alen head), not fillister head screws (standard straight slot head).
Thanks for noticing that!
