    Hey there, tip: make sure u don't shower fully before you finish washing your hair. Because if you cleanse your body and then wash your hair again all the dirt from your hair is going to cover your body and can cause chest and back acne. Always shower last so you can get the hair dirt off of you. 💕

      Thank you very much for that tip! That’s truly helpful! I usually stand, leaning back so the shampoo and dirt don’t touch my skin but that does hurt my back so it makes sense to just do what you mentioned.

    This was so satisfying to watch! I can’t wash mine in the shower …too heavy when wet. I wash mine in my kitchen sink. I purposely bought a high gooseneck faucet with detachable head to get the water where I need it. I have to psych myself up for the job, but as soon as that water hits my scalp…. BLISS😌😌😌

      Thank you so much Sio!!😘🤗 Yeahhh I understand because mine are starting to feel pretty heavy when wet too. I’m going to try to wash mine at the sink again. I really love it while in the shower bc it feels so freeing. I totally can relate bc I procrastinate for like 2 days bc I don’t feel like dealing with the drying process.

    Nice! I too love wash days!
    With my SD I spritz water on my hair and then put my medicated shampoo on my scalp. I wait 10 minutes and then get in the shower and proceed with wash day.
    Like you, the key is at some point letting the shampoo sit for a while to do its medicated goodness!

    • @itsDawnElle
      @itsDawnElle  Před 2 lety +1

      Yesss! Being impatient would definitely ruin the magic that those kinds of shampoos give our scalps!

    Sounds like you have low porosity hair which basically means your hair is less likely to absorb water and it takes more to moisturize you hair and really get water in your hair! I have low porosity locs as well and due to that my locs dry super fast

    • @itsDawnElle
      @itsDawnElle  Před 2 lety +3

      Yup! I absolutely agree with you! You described my hair to a T! Ahhhh so that’s so it doesn’t take long for my locs to dry 😂.

    Are your locs heavy when wet? And do you only wash once or twice with the head and shoulders?

    • @itsDawnElle
      @itsDawnElle  Před 2 lety +1

      Yes they sure are heavy when wet. I only wash once…I just start with my scalp only at first and after a few minutes I wash the ends.

    Thats what happen to my bottom row. I combed them out and started them over. It was horrible how much build up was in them

    • @itsDawnElle
      @itsDawnElle  Před 2 lety +1

      Aww man 😕. I don’t blame you because if I couldn’t fix mine I probably would’ve done the same thing!

  • @2013lovemy
    @2013lovemy Před 2 lety

    Hmm ok, maybe I need to dilute my shampoo and conditioner! I noticed a couple locs in the back had white spots and couldn’t tell if it was lint or build up. I got most of it out and it looked kinda linty, but not sure. I’ll try this when I use shampoo that isn’t clear. The flipping is a good idea (I’ll try that when I have enough length to flip lol).

    • @itsDawnElle
      @itsDawnElle  Před 2 lety +1

      Yeah I would definitely say to give it a try😉. Yup! I’ve seen the same on a few of my locs in the back before too!

    Thank you for sharing! How do you dry your locs?

    • @itsDawnElle
      @itsDawnElle  Před 2 lety +1

      You’re welcome! I wrap them in a towel for about 20 minutes and then wrap them into a different towel ( a new dry towel) to help soak up any remaining water and then let my locs air dry.

    how often do you wash your locs? I'm going to start my first loc journey and I'm trying to learn everything I can before I start :)

    • @itsDawnElle
      @itsDawnElle  Před 2 lety +1

      I wash mine once a week. That’s how I started them off and I continued once I learned I had seborrheic dermatitis. You’ll know what your hair and scalp can handle once you start as everyone is different. I hope this helps!☺️
