"I do it for a living, I don't do it for awards." That's what a man of integrity says. James was all class.
My Uncle Jim, he laughed when I told him I was an Arson Investigator on the Fire Department and they were calling me Rockford Jr. I had to put a stop to that. I miss you, you taught me how to be a Man and how to be a Gentleman, you made me who I am today, your nephew Brian
Your Uncle Jim was one of my favorite actors and from this interview and ones from Carson he was my kind of guy.
Your uncle James Garner, was a magnificent actor, and his movies always carried a message to us all. Be it on how to live your life, the best values to live up to in life. What true love is. Can’t imagine any other actor in that role. Murphy’s Law was a beautiful moving movie.
@@juliewatson2281 Murphy's Romance is the title. But one of my very favorite movies.
One of my favourite actor when I was growing up and still is
He was the best in every way. Miss him a lot.
One Prince of a man, my favorite actor and I miss him. R.I.P MR Garner
My favorite actor..
James Garner an icon and just a great guy.
And a liberal.
One of my very favorite actors, and persons...
He was the best........definitely missed ❤️
Two guys having an interesting conversation, no dominant egos interfering with the content, both so likeable, a real pleasure to watch. James Garner relaxed, laid back and affable.
Very modest man. Proably a better actor, than I give him credit for.
The ones who don't make it seem like acting are the best!
Of all the American actors ever, I don't think there was one who was as cool and natural as James Garner.
As I drifted to sleep last night, the Grit network was showing "Support Your Local Sherrif"....thought he was the smoothest ever.
i think james garner was a great actor, i loved watching him on the rockford files and still to this day i watch it, he had a great personality and it showed in his character. he made u laugh and had a lot of class. i will never forget him.
The first I ever knew of him was Jim Rockford. I'm pretty sure I never watched in prime time, school nights, etc.. But every day at 4:00 it played in the 80's and I loved it. Moreso because my father loved it, and I remember thinking at 18: Garner must be ok if my father enjoys this character so much. It's no mystery to me anymore. Garner was an honest actor and that reached everyone.
One of my favorites. Rockford was a great show…
Great guy .
two of the best right here, folks!!!!
Pity about the audio glitches.
As an Australian Vietnam Veteran I have so much respect and admiration for James Garner he was a great human being
@billudbey: We appreciate your service.. Greetings from the USA.
@@condor7810 thank you so much for kind words
Look up "gentleman" in the dictionary...there will be James Garner's portrait.
I absolutely love him
Rest in eternal peace ♥
It was great growing up watching Mr. Garner on TV and in the movies. The world was a different place when men were men and he was the best of them.
Rockford Files is legend!
I watch it now on an OTA channel...still holds up
@@ClevelandLiveMusic OTA? It was on Tubi up until a month ago. Did you know David Chase wrote for Rockford? Some of the better episodes as well
wow he was a bad-ass against the German cops ! great anecdote. . I'm picturing the German kid in the hands of the police, telling his friends later 'hey this American movie star ran up and punched the cop who had me !' and his buddies saying, oh quit lying.. ahaha
Very interesting interview with James Garner ...not the usual type interview....only sad thing there is a bit of a problem with the sound quality...
Terrible audio in parts, love James garner
They blocked it out!!!????
Or maybe not!!?? LOL!!
What is the song playing over the photo montage at 7:17? Thanks!

@@ClevelandLiveMusic Oh thank you so much! I kept pulling lyrics to Google and ending up in some strange places lol. Thanks again!
@@suzannemarker9896 when the songs Later used will not pass the copyright issues, I substitute The Janglers. A Cleveland band whose CDs I issued many years ago.

A friend told me about his visit to a diner in a small desert town on the backside of nowhere going someplace. After his dinner, he was presented with the bill. When he signed the credit card bill, he told the waitress, "You'll get more money for this if you don't send it in and sell it." She sent it in. Movie stars are always looking for a discount.
I wonder what it was that they blocked out about Jane Fonda??!!
I was never Fonda Jane.
Good God Almighty, Garner's working the arm of that chair over with his right-hand like a man possessed. 0:28 ...
Just curious: do you follow The Behaviour Panel?
I like James Garner but he looked in rough shape here, had multiple chins.
Like a Chinese phone book?
Looks good for being 80 something
60 plus damn
James Garner a great in Rockford Files and a few films, Costas a clown - 2 screening liberals
What's a "screening liberal?"
You know who else marched with MLK? Mr. NRA himself Charlton Heston. There was a time when doing the right thing wasn't the bastion of "liberals" or "conservatives".
