Totally AGREE!!! Their pre- Fever stuff is my favorite period. Of the "R & B" era I love Mr. Natural and Main Course albums but I do love ALL their music and albums from all of their career . Their music is very well covered by other artists. Starting with their Australian beginning period and continuing. They are WAY more than the "Disco Kings" label - their professional music career ranged from 1963 until the 2000s well over 40 years and Barry continues to make original music and tour.
GREAT JOB on this video ❤❤

  • @lena-mariaglouis-charles7036

These three Legends had been performing for 18 years (since 1958 - having plenty of hits...) BEFORE the disco craze hit all corners of this planet.
And, the fact that they had the ability to musically adapt to every new decade (and write and produce for other artists, as well - be they female or male...) only shows what Musical Geniuses they were/are.💖💖💖
I agree wholeheartedly with You Chad - no other group comes close to the BeeGees when it comes to beautifully sung, tight harmonies - and Sir Barry's legendary falsetto.
THANKS Chad, for this Brother's Gibb Weekend Marathon!💕

Yes! Your assessment is correct! It is annoying to hear them be called "Disco kings" because they are a band that existed before, during and after the disco era. It drives me crazy and I try and explain what you just did - it was only a very small portion of their music, not even written for or as “disco”. • @Scuderia_Fan
    @Scuderia_Fan Před rokem +10

You are absolutely right. They had six platinum albums before 'Saturday Night Fever'. Most of them had nothing to do with disco. It really was just a small portion of their vast catalog. The Bee Gees did however killed in in the seventies. They became larger then life. The backlash however, they didn't deserve that. By that time they did and meant so much for the entire industry. So it sad that after fever they were blocked from most radiostations no matter how good their newer albums were. So with channels like yours people will learn about all the music and talent that was kept from them. Chad, you are doing an awesome job giving these fantastic guys a new podium. Educate their catalog to new listener's. To let the world see what is out there and that it is worth some time to listen too. Well done sir! It's much appreciated! 😀

And again thanxalot, Chad. You nailed it completely. To me, they're also kings of songwriters at all. The problem with let's call them 'not knowers of the truth' is, so called music-experts didn't ever set them into the right light. They belong to the category of supa-heavy-weight music-artists of all time with really nothing above them. That's their place but beside of so many hits and success worldwide, ignorance and arrogance is still onboard.

God knows they put up with some nasty and ignorant interviewers in the past who only wanted to know about disco and thr American backlash. Never heard about it until years later! Their 'fever' era was just that, an era that passed to another one and yet another. They proved themselves over and over again and to their genuine fans they were always Kings of Harmony. Barry always said that they were songwriters first and then singers. I like the term “Kings of Harmony,” because that’s exactly what they were. But it was the “Saturday Night Fever” soundtrack, that catapulted the Bee Gees into the stratosphere as superstars, and they will always be remembered for that, first and foremost by most of the people who really never followed their entire music career. That being said, the music that they wrote and performed for the “Saturday Night Fever” soundtrack was absolute genius; the songs were amazing. Yes, it was dance music or “disco,” but it was GREAT MUSIC. Unfortunately, the disco music that followed “Saturday Night Fever” wasn’t very good. When the backlash occurred, because they had the most successful disco album of all time, of course, they were categorized as the kings of disco. And Donna Summer was categorized as the queen of disco. It eclipsed everything else they ever did. They could have just retired at that point in their career as very wealthy men, but because they were so committed to their craft, they continued to make great music until Morris’ death in 2003. God Bless The Brothers Gibb!

They all looked so happy and healthy here. Had MTV not been so prejudiced against The Bee Gees, they would have made an excellent choice for 'Unplugged'. In all honestly, there are really only 2 songs in their entire catalog that fit the true sense of disco: "You Should Be Dancing" and "Night Fever". "Stayin' Alive" is actually a little too slow to be real a real dance club song. I mean, maybe you could lump songs like "Can't Keep A Good Man Down" and "More Than A Woman" into that field, but just peripherally.

Hi Chad. This is my first comment to you. I just started watching you a few months ago when I saw your reaction to To Much Heaven. Have watched all your reactions since then. You are awesome and I LOVE how you feel about the Brothers Gibb.♥️♥️♥️ There's no one like them & never will be. They are such humble down to earth extremely funny men with so much talent that goes beyond the stars🌟🌟🌟 and I agree with you..they are the "Kings of Harmony". I LOVE them so much..especially Barry who has my heart.💘 So miss Mo & Robin & Andy too😥😥😥 Thanks for taking all of us on this amazing journey with you. It's fun and now it feels like "home" when I tune in. You're a great guy & I love your reactions. Thanks again for everything. Hope you had a wonderful Father's Day😊 Take care and be blessed🙏💙

Thank you Chad for the reaction. Really appreciate it. How deep is your love always hauntingly beautiful. Their talent, their harmony and even their talking voice and their laugh are so pleasant to hear. They are born to sing. All of them looks good and so sad that Robin and Maurice is no longer with us. I have not yet found any group that comes close to the Bee Gees. Their songs are treasure and hope the new generation will preserve it for years to come.

What I find ironic is that The Bee Gees were skewered for getting unwillingly associated with disco but if you listen to music now, 90% of it has the same beat and patterns as disco. It's just that the lyrics suck now and they can't sing. 🤢🤢

I've been a die-hard Bee Gees fan for more than 30 years and I think the "disco kings" label is just unfair. They are much more than just disco if not one of the most important groups that helped shape modern day music. Their contributions to music are no less than those of the Beatles and they should be placed right there wit the Beatles.

  • @thorstenwestheiderphotogra7722

No worries Chad, your assessment is spot-on. I was a huge fan of the Bee Gees in my early teens, they got me hooked when "Tragedy" was released. I was 12 years old then and that song was something else. After some time I discovered their earlier works (there was no internet to do a quick Google search, mind) and was baffled just how different, yet beautiful their older songs were. These brothers had incredible talent and it's hard to accept that 2 of them (not counting Andy) have passed away already. There's an interview with Barry on the subject (the last Bee Gee iirc) that shines a light on just how close they were as brothers.

His brothers weren't there to share it, and this was a way to honor him. This is just a guess. Even after Mo died, Barry said the Bee Gees were no more, because all three made the group.

IMO, KC and the Sunshine band represent disco, which I hated. Maddening 3 word songs that droned forever, does not describe the Bee Gees. As Dave Grohl of the Foo Fighters said, The Bee Gees songs of that era were rock songs you could dance to.

So true! Disco classics like "Love to Love You Baby" just repeated the same phrase over and over again (no offense to the talented Donna Summer). Many disco classics were only instrumental. Then you had groups like Sister Sledge raising the bar with songs like “We Are Family.” But the Bee Gees? To me, their alleged “disco” transcended the genre altogether. They sounded like no one else back then, and still to this day.
