This is a first world problem, Lebanon is a 3rd world country. Fix 3rd world problems first before start taking about 1st world problems.
Creating second class citizens based on race, sex & sexual orientation and not giving them their rights is a fundamental problem in all societies, regardless of whether the society is first, second or third world.
All should be treated equal, and from that we move forward.

@sarde Someone decides to change gender is not in a normal state of mind. Get clean water first and electricity and some form of government first. Lebanese born and raised in Lebanon are so out of touch with reality that they let the government give them shit for many years. They don’t unite on the basics or what direction to follow. They are always looking to be cool and western. Newsflash buddy the west is as conservative or more conservative than Lebanese in Lebanon. My point is most Lebanese will unite on corrupt government but when you start bringing in lgbqt rights in the mix most will not be on board. Just like the semi revolution, once they started to show that the main agenda was to remove the yellow party and its people the semi revolution dissolved. It’s just sad to see Lebanon like that

@@adkimmel3096 Not really, at least not for everybody. We still have a lot of these backward discriminatory laws. Among other things: people are still prosecuted for being gay, we still have homophobic laws in our country.

The fact that, statistically, the comments showing support are generally written in proper English, while the ones showing disapproval are written in proper and/or improper arabic is fascinatingly reflective of the nature of the debate around the LGBT community's rights.
It is plainly noticeable that it is the difference in influence and environment that is solely responsible for the discrimination against this minority:
People influenced by a polar environment project their disability to sort out their emotions in regards to their acquired beliefs onto society in the form of insecurity disguised as hate.
This is confirmed by the difference in tone and syntax in the comments written by these individuals, view that they are much more aggressive, assertive, and ill-informed, as opposed to the better informed individuals of the supportive community.
In turn, these individuals present a more advanced level of awareness, security, ease, and acceptance of the opposing point of view, whilst refuting the argument in a well-written, civilized manner.
This observation is very useful for us to know what type of society and societal evolution we are dealing with.
Unfortunately, we appear to be dealing with an extremely slow progression, bordering a fast regression.
As any analysis, it is not a 100% applicable case, but it does apply to the majority.
I hope people start thinking and eventually understand that there is no single solution to each problem, rather a unified solution to solve all problems.
There is a saying, it states "make your peace with the mirror and watch the reflection change."
I hope that it rings a bell.
Thank you for this, when I look at the societal problems in Lebanon I always analyze the nature of things the way you did. Its important to take a step back and look at the situation, in order to know what we're dealing with when fighting against the injustice and corruption

Anyone who does not support homosexuality AKA ( Adopt your point of view ) is uninformed and ignorant, and Anyone who supports it is educated and aware.... It seems to me that it is personalization and an attempt to bring down others morally in order to avoid entering into a discussion, which is a well-known method among Arrogant narrow-minded people (and at the same time they believe that they are open-minded). )
This can also be seen from your observation about the use of the English language versus the Arabic language...and the attempt to belittle the other party by questioning his linguistic skills as an entry point to refute his opinion.

You seem to know that they do not choose their sexual orientation, but you also think that they should be punished for something that is not their fault. Something that isn't even faulty to begin with. You need to realize that there are scientifically proven facts and there are opinions. Those facts (like homosexuality being natural in the animal kingdom and it not being a disease) cannot be debated because they are not a matter of personal beliefs. Other things like the causes of homosexuality and the way it might impact society are debatable. My point is that you cannot play the "this is my opinion and you're not allowing me to express it" card when contradicting facts. First of all I'd like to say that I have the complete and utter respect for your or any relegion of that matter.
It's already been known how humans are likely to alter things in this world, and I think we should be aware of the many times that holy books such as the Bible and the Quran have been translated, humans being humans, there have been a lot of altercation thru the years, there's proof and documents of it about the Bible, one of em being around the early 20th century, so running on that notion alone I personally think that reading the Bible or the Quran isn't the best way to get close or to get to know God himself, of course we can say that, yes, they are originally written by the true God amungst us thru our saints and prophets, but of every human being that had changed and altered so many texts that we can't even count in our own hands I don't believe that holy books are trustworthy anymore, we will never find the true authentic paragraphs and phrases that were written thru the words of the lord. I believe it is only within ourselves at this point.. it's hard to follow up with what I said, I know, we've been conditioned to believe that they're still the same words written in the beginning but they truly aren't.
And we can be deceitful beings ourselves in general, there have been deceitful priests and writers many times, taking advantage of people just fit their own narratives, so therefore, I cannot say that I can take the writings that we've known of the Bible or the Quran as much as it should've had it not been altered since the first ever translation.
