Watching this analysis made me realise just how damn highly technical Islam Makachev is.
Dagestanis are not just strong and skillful; they have an extremely high level fighting IQ, which is rarely talked about.

I think he's a better analyst than coach, always yells at his fighters what to do but it rarely helps

Islam is so damn well rounded. Dp is my favorite fighter but this is his toughest fight imo

Combat sports is marketed to the "casuals". It is the casuals who pay for PPV and where the big money for boxing come in from. Personally, I consider myself an advanced casual MMA fan having followed the game from the mid 2000s (Couture and Liddell era). I think MMA sort of peaked (for the moment) 5 years ago, and we are still looking for the next big star but that is hard because many fighters are evenly skilled especially at the top level.

@the-beneficiary1809 Yes, those steroids helped him a lot in developing strong, defensive striking, judo trips and throws, effective clinch striking, lethal submissions, and body weight awareness in wrestling, you must use that steroid, hopefully it may proved "the beneficiary" for the development and awareness of your not so beneficiary mind.
I don't see Dustin getting the W but it definitely wouldn't hurt my feelings. Either way, I will be happy with the outcome of this fight (assuming both men finish in relatively good health, obviously). I dont understand how anyone could not be a fan of Dustin. He and Islam both just just good dudes and about as good of role models as the sport has to offer. We could use a lot more like them.
Islam has all the aspects in winning this fight. He's younger and in his prime, he's more well-rounded and a protege of the greatest lightweight of all time in Khabib. But make no mistake, Dustin still has the power in that left hand and has the puncher's chance. All he has to do is just to figure out how to land that left hook to Islam because if he does connect cleanly, it's game over for Islam.
Any man that has a husband for a wife, isn't a good role model. Dustin is the definition of a punk.

Coach Saud is always on point and his breakdowns can be understood even by new fans. Always a pleasure listening to his analysis and breakdowns.

Colby got no finishes and no submission game at all, fights semi-retired fighters and gets granted title fights for that smh
Colby v. Usman 1 was a banger. He was top contender then. The rest of the title fights were just the UFC cashing in on his cringe.
This is why i LOVE MMA.. We have no idea how this fight plays out.. You don't have this crazy surprise factor in any other sport.. Team Dustin Let's GO.

Islam was able to take advantage of his southpaw stance against Volk's orthodox, which absolutely led to the head kick finish in their second fight. I'm curious if he'll revert back to a more grappling focused style against Poirier, especially given the southpaw vs southpaw stances that will be on display.
Volkanovski switches stances like a mad man too though? Also. You are right. Islam would probably fight Poirier like how he fought Dober (southpaw). That single leg is there to be snatched.

Bsd was landing some good body kicks and leg kicks I think Islam will do the same from the kicking range.
He is definately gonna be grappling heavy. He'll use the striking and kicks to transcend to grappling and eventually a submission. Because that is Islam and the AdbulManap/AKA camp fight strategic always. PLAY IT SAFE and JUST WIN. dont worry if it is boring just pay safe and win.

Dustin can’t stand with Islam like he does with others! He will not be able to be constantly aggressive because of the fear of the takedowns! Look at all the great Strikers we have and how passive they are against Khabib and Islam! Volk,Justin,Bobby, Conor! It is not the same! Dustin could only turn up 10 seconds against Khabib in the standing.
BSD was very irresponsible defensively against DP..he wast just walking forward all the time..Islam is sharp and is much smarter than that..

BSD tougher than Islam, fought at 170, not afraid to get punched, and didn't get chinned by a nobody

Dustin Poirer is right-handed but he's left-footed, and that's why he fights southpaw.
That is exactly what I am and it makes you comfortable in either stance. But it does sort of change the jab and the kick. But when you can switch they dont know what's coming.
Most people have a weak side. But not the guy who is left footed and right handed or visa versa.
This is Dustins last chance at this belt. I hope he can get the job done. Islam is a wrecking ball son. This is going to be a hell of a fight.

The other angle of Charles getting submitted was really informational. That's explains why Charles tapped like 10 times. His face was purple.
Lightweight is such a competitive division with so many great fighters, the top 10 are all so good and entertaining that you almost can't dislike anyone of them.
Brother Saif is the best ever I came across in my life time to give every Littel detail that makes it so clear how great the fighters skills are he Opens your eyes on important things that is not really noticed and explains it perfectly, I'm excited to see him give other breakdown and analysis.

This is going to be a really hard match up to predict, on paper, Islam Makachev is one of the most complete fighters on the roster, pound 4 pound No.1, his striking, grappling, wrestling, all aspects of his martial arts game is absolutely top notch, but on the other hand we have Dustin Poirier, a true veteran of the sport, who has got some of the best boxing skills in the sport, and is crafty enough to set up traps and get the job done. All it takes is one shot for DP, like in the BSD fight. It’s going to be an absolutely incredible match up and I so excited. 😊

There is no drama nor there has to be. Both are respectfull and respected fighters and the only reason they are fighting is to put food on the table.

Coach you missed at 13:25 Islam if he is ever in that position he will 100 percent take down poirier by foot sweeping him. If I saw that, Islam will definitely use one or twice in the fight. Islam has some crazy techniques with his legs/foot in the clinch or whenever he is trying to defend a takedown or get one himself.
5:58 also TheWeasle mentioned that the reason this kick was also devistating was because of volks left hand not in the right place to stop the kick from going though his head, earlier in the fight volk had his left hand in thr right place and you saw the kick from islam still hit volk but didnt go through, more like a light tap on the side of the head

The one thing that Islam shouldn't do in this fight is to be over-confident. He knows that he's obviously the better fighter but he shouldn't forget that Dustin has power in both hands and if Dustin can land a shot cleanly at Islam, he can knock him out.

But that kick wont be there because they are not crossed guard so first part of the analisis kind of usless in the context of this fight the inside kick wont be there there will also not be a battle for outside foot placment and the lead hand tapping wont be there as that mostly happens in crossed guards which they are not in this fight

Then again, Dustin fights southpaw so may not have the same effect.
