Sirji PPF is a seriously good instrument. It works on EEE and pure compounding principle. PPF interest rates are pegged with inflation. Pure compounding ensures beating inflation. One should first invest religiously in PPF before even thinking of SIP. I always keep in mind the fine print " MFs are subject to risk, read the documents carefully before investing "
Just to give an example. After very long term investment in PPF, 25+ years, I am assured of a tax free return which is more than a pension of retired Army General. And yes after PPF I am investing in markets using sip, lumpsum etc. Common man should never ignore a fact that rich get richer in open markets, by hook or crook. I clearly remember watching all market experts advising retail investors to stay away from investing in marketing during steep fall in COVID pandemic. I am sure they were investing in tons that time.
