Alpha was a fitting localization choice to be honest. Especially Alpha Omega considering it implies that Alpha would be both the prototype to the Internet as well as its end. Kind of a scary thought what something like Alpha could do in real life. These games came out when the Internet and its users were relatively young, and yet it's more than predicted a lot of nuances about modern society and its reliance on digital technology, wireless communication, and the Internet in general. Makes you wonder how damaging it would be if something just "sucked it all up" one day.
Mega Man Battle Network was ahead of its time. Every other final boss felt like some frankenstein monster bent on invading the net, but Alpha was the net itself. Unavoidable. Inevitable.
Alpha is the embodiment of the net itself. By effect, Alpha is "god" of the net. In BN3, the strongest versions of navis are their "Omega" versions. That makes Alphas strongest form "Alpha Omega" God is "the alpha and the omega" Well played, Capcom. Well played.

This fucking... The thing I loved about battle network is that you knew this guy was the BIG boss. Every final boss battle theme is just euphoric compared to the rest of the games music. You put the gba down, wiped your sweaty hands on your pants, picked it back up looked this guy in the eye and thought to yourself "I AM GONNA FUCK YOU UP BRUH". No? That was just me? Ok.
Well I ain't sure about the sweat but I can relate to the rest at least! 😂 Seriously tho', I've watched players making Alpha a joke in mere seconds but regardless, I still managed to pull it through. That final boss is sick!!!

Master style is a P.A. meant to be multi-purpose, used for both full-screen destruction and single-target bombardment backed by its time-stopping effect for accuracy and ease of use, and while it definitely IS strong, other P.A.s are better for single-target bombardment. For example, Bodyguard. Same damage, but MANY more hits. No time-stop, but immense damage for single-target, NOT including damage boosters.
+Kenneth Rogers Actually, Yellow Devil software was created by the Dr. Light and later changed in a evil robot by Dr. Wily, so is really a good idea if Alpha is the Yellow Devil BN counterpart.
Imagine if they had made alpha with a constant regeneration ability like the smaller alphas had, perhaps just a bit slower. That would have been a real challenge.
Alpha was a really fitting final boss, difficulty wise. A good introduction to the post-game secrets and how hard things could actually be. Alpha is really hard if you do not know what you are doing. I always remember running out of chips against it before I knew how to fight it efficiently. It becomes one of the easiest fights once you know what to do, but most of the navis before that are also easier than it is to fight blind.
I love this idea, looking back I don't know why they didn't have the final form omega version do this the mini virus could regenerate so why tf not alpha? Maybe they knew the than 12 year Olds would just smash are game boys in anger from getting deleted over and over hahaha
It was kinda unfortunate for Bass. He was a kind and loyal NetNavi doing his job. But other NetNavis and people feared his power and when Alpha went out of control, it was the guys time to lock up Bass and have him restrained a majority of his power. He was let go by Dr. Cossack, his creator that he calls dad, to be set free but was about to get swarmed by other NetNavis while Bass had those cuffs on and Cossack was arrested before he can jack Bass.EXE out of the server. And when Bass heard one of the Navis say that Cossack made those cuffs, it broke Bass' heart. So he reprogrammed the restraining cuffs, got the Get Ability, killed one of the NetNavis, and that's it. Bass is a troubled soul who lost his way and never knew the full truth.

My favorite style so far was woodguts, since you can do tornado, rapid buster shots and lime green is my favorite color XD perfect timing for a random style!
i personally like bug style... its fun... generally my strategy is running up and down frantically unless i k ow the boss and bug style has an effect that makes that strategy much more feesible...

Too bad many did not see him that way cuz I kinda like him. Not so much as to give him his own series which would get canned ASAP. Also he was that bad back when he was revealed as a playable in Universe b4 it was canned. Fucking idiots, not you guys but Capcom.
... I've recently came up with a fan made character from Alpha: as some know, it formed itself to this appearance after absorbed Bass EXE and the digitalized mind of Lord Wily yes? And even after its defeat, it was still persistent enough to try to absorb Megaman EXE yes? Until Megaman overloading himself and somehow survived, sacrificing the Hub batch. Well mash it all together and have now a half amoeba virus, half human, and half Navi, with the ability to speak, "Devour" programs and abilities, generate Auras and weaponries and Change Style. Neither good nor evil, it just lurks around the net world, devouring those who cross him or seeking informations. I'm gonna call it Upsilon.
Oh megaman didnt survive... he died. He was only able to "come back" because Grandpa light backed Megamans data up when they entered the old sci lab room and met him. Gramps sent that data to his son, which is Lans dad. But in truth, the megaman we play as from Bn4-6 is a back up file of the original mega.
This so far has been my most enjoyable final boss in the Battle Network games. Only ones I have not fought is Gosple and the Cyber Beast that is like Gosple.
Yep, however with an Elec style stun Bass, oddly he gave me a harder time then Alpha...Then again I was using wood style and that charge attack isn't that great on Bass as he is hard to hit with it and tends to go to the back row.

The only one of the first 3 bosses I had actual issues with because my options were 'grind multihit chips' or 'grind wood style' There's a third option (I utilized ElecTeam) and that option is abusing the Fanfare chip. I had three altogether, had one in my folder prior and I was swapping some bubblers and a bubble v I had for an earlier program advance for it to get a better chance of pulling it. Fanfare in that one panel Alpha can't touch on it's side of the field (bottom row front column) means you get to abuse the effects for ages
i remember having the awesome muramasa and eating enough damage to jumpstart it to 999....... then it was all about timing. time it properly and boom. instant victory.... screwing up cost me a ton though
The rapidly alternating Mid to top/bottom lane thunder blitz? Unless you're confusing it with a different attack? Its much harder to dodge than say, MMBN4's duo fist barrage (meteo knuckles) or MMBN5's Nebula Gray's Hand siphon attack. Its simple to dodge, you just repeatedly move up/down. The problem is how quickly he fires. Maybe that's because I did it on an emulator, so I fumbled with the controls a bit more.
Guts style(preferably woodguts) with a few random meteors, yoyo 2, plasma 3, and master style. You're golden. Random meteors was definitely a life saver against this prick. Now it's just second nature to beat his ass
I remember the first time I fount Proto Omega...I almost died, then magically got the Z X-Step program advance and took out like 2000 health in a matter of seconds because he didn't get invul time..lol.
lol. I dunno. Personally, I found it pretty hard to dodge, even compared to the rapid random panel attacks that Bass, Duo and Nebula Gray get in BN4/5. Maybe I wasn't trying enough. I don't know.

There is an "Alpha Omega" version. Normally theres 5 stars you can get by doing various things. But if you put a code in at the start screen, the 5 stars condense for 2 more. Get all 7 stars and you can fight Alpha Omega. The code is: Hold "left" and press R, R, L, R, L, R, L, L. The stars are... Yellow: Beat Alpha. Green: Defeat Bass GS Light Blue: Complete time-attack navis Blue: All 100 standard chips Purple: All 85 mega chips Orange: All 32 P.A.s Red: Beat all 15 Omega navis
Well with Soul-Net and his friendshit with Dr.Tadashi Hikari, Wily also erased Regal's memory of the past 10 years, because he didn't want his son to follow the same path. Wily reformed himself in the next game, after Colonel & Iris sacrificed themselves. Wily made those two for Baryl, his adopted son, and felt as though they were his own children. Shit I would reform myself too if my children sacrificed themselves to right my wrong :|
His real mind and body stayed in the real world. The Pulse In procedure he and Lan used only sends your brainwaves into the net as electronic signals. The reason Lan wasn’t able to escape via disconnecting was likely because he was combined with mega man at the time while Wily wasn’t.
Damn i love this fuckin series, as a kid playing all 6 year after year of em getting released.. shit .. sweet sweet nostalgia right here.. too bad starforce wasn't nearly as great as this .. ah well we still have these :) everything about this game seems perfect and it gives you those feels , since the story has great lessons to teach.
I don't know if it's because I was up since twelve, playing 'till three and I was in God Mode I'd been playing so long, but... I found Proto pathetically easy to dodge... It's probably just because I was in the zone so hard...
I really liked this boss battle. Now, Duo on the other hand? He can kiss my ass. (Considered hacking the game because no folder I made could accommodate for my lack of skill in trying to kill him. Gave the controller over to my older brother, and he managed to somehow defeat him on the GBA player haaa aftertentries)
It's really a shame how easy Alpha is for how much the story cocked him up to be. I would love to fight an Alpha that has invincibility frames, he'd challenge Gregar RV, Gospel(H) and Duo Omega for hardest end bosses.
Honestly, this boss was just plain awful to me, though I'm glad you didn't suffer like I did. Of course I'm not the type of guy who can go and grind enemies until his chip folder becomes a dictionary definition of "rape," but then no boss should be easy for someone with that kind of folder. I would've been absolutely fine with this boss if he only regenerated his shield in his Beta or Omega forms. That shield made Gregar and the Life Virus seem like child's play compared to Alpha.
lmfao what are you talking about you don't need to chipgrind to make this boss easy all you need is a Z-Canon1 advance which is not even that good of an advance... he's easy pre 50% hp, and a very simple and easy and often accidentally acquired PA makes his sub 50% easy too. I fought him the other day without it and I beat him in my first try, still really one of the easiest bosses
I really don't blame anyone for thinking Alpha is a joke, and I don't blame anyone for thinking Alpha is insane. Alpha is just one of those bosses that's sorta like a puzzle: You need to figure out how to fight him or else you won't stand a chance. When I first got to Alpha, I kept getting my ass handed to him time and time again because my chipfolder was not suited to the sort of boss Alpha was: a boss where Multi-Hit Attacks are generally more useful than Attacks that are simply powerful due to his lack of invincibility frames and having a regenerating "shield". As such, now that I KNOW how to fight Alpha, he's honestly quite easy. Some of his attacks require a good sense of rhythm to avoid, but for Z- Program Advances can take down massive chunks of his health (Fucking Z-Step can take off HALF of his health o_o) and Chips like AntiDmg, Totem, Sensor, Tornado, etc are also very handy in breaking away the shield. But let's be honest, using most conventional strategies like FlameSpreader, MastrStyle, or just spamming powerful chips on Alpha is not something that's very viable, unless you have GutsStyle.
Thanks, I didn't really analyze it that well, but now that I think about it, I had a bunch of shields and heals and stuff, as well as a few high-power one-hit chips. I was ready to fight defensively, and Alpha as a boss just did that so much better because of his shields.

Wow thats really cool man, i got all stars in the emulator (also if you want to play a new game why not in an emulator?), i had to use the "all megachips cheat", BUT only after getting all the other 81 megachips, you know to make it a little more legit, and nah the bugfrag trader wont drop any version of mistman in the blue version or bowlman in the white version, its a shame and sort of unfair because even when these games were new it was really hard to find: *Someone else with the game *With the opposite version *That has gotten that far to face Mistman/Bowlman *That has leveled up custom style to max and then got the V4 versions *Link cable (it was hard to find where i live) *That he was willing to trade them Buf i know.... one day i ll get all 7 stars...

That thing takes an hour to charge and it deals 60 - 120 damage (more damage on sand but there is no sand in that battle and it deals even less to proto/alpha) wood doesnt suck but it is not insta-win -.-
My guess as to why Proto/Alpha was never in the Rockman.EXE/Megaman NT Warrior anime was because he was too similar to the D-Reaper from Digimon Tamers.
Wood charged shot? That's an alpha killer. rips right through the barrier and hits it. So its not killing alpha in an instant, but it is one of the easiest methods to use.

My favorite style so far was woodguts, since you can do tornado, rapid buster shots and lime green is my favorite color XD perfect timing for a random style!
i personally like bug style... its fun... generally my strategy is running up and down frantically unless i k ow the boss and bug style has an effect that makes that strategy much more feesible...

... I've recently came up with a fan made character from Alpha: as some know, it formed itself to this appearance after absorbed Bass EXE and the digitalized mind of Lord Wily yes? And even after its defeat, it was still persistent enough to try to absorb Megaman EXE yes? Until Megaman overloading himself and somehow survived, sacrificing the Hub batch.
Well mash it all together and have now a half amoeba virus, half human, and half Navi, with the ability to speak, "Devour" programs and abilities, generate Auras and weaponries and Change Style. Neither good nor evil, it just lurks around the net world, devouring those who cross him or seeking informations.
I'm gonna call it Upsilon.
Oh megaman didnt survive... he died. He was only able to "come back" because Grandpa light backed Megamans data up when they entered the old sci lab room and met him. Gramps sent that data to his son, which is Lans dad.
But in truth, the megaman we play as from Bn4-6 is a back up file of the original mega.

This so far has been my most enjoyable final boss in the Battle Network games. Only ones I have not fought is Gosple and the Cyber Beast that is like Gosple.

Yep, for end game I go for wood or Elec style as Elec works well fighting Bass.
Yep, however with an Elec style stun Bass, oddly he gave me a harder time then Alpha...Then again I was using wood style and that charge attack isn't that great on Bass as he is hard to hit with it and tends to go to the back row.

@@filipinowhiteboy once you realize that he doesn't have invincibility frames from taking damage, a Z-Canon1 PA is enough to kill him from half hp pretty easily.

The only one of the first 3 bosses I had actual issues with because my options were 'grind multihit chips' or 'grind wood style'
There's a third option (I utilized ElecTeam) and that option is abusing the Fanfare chip. I had three altogether, had one in my folder prior and I was swapping some bubblers and a bubble v I had for an earlier program advance for it to get a better chance of pulling it. Fanfare in that one panel Alpha can't touch on it's side of the field (bottom row front column) means you get to abuse the effects for ages

Unless you're confusing it with a different attack? Its much harder to dodge than say, MMBN4's duo fist barrage (meteo knuckles) or MMBN5's Nebula Gray's Hand siphon attack.
Its simple to dodge, you just repeatedly move up/down. The problem is how quickly he fires. Maybe that's because I did it on an emulator, so I fumbled with the controls a bit more.
Guts style(preferably woodguts) with a few random meteors, yoyo 2, plasma 3, and master style. You're golden. Random meteors was definitely a life saver against this prick. Now it's just second nature to beat his ass
I remember the first time I fount Proto Omega...I almost died, then magically got the Z X-Step program advance and took out like 2000 health in a matter of seconds because he didn't get invul time..lol.

No. I'm just trying to snap people out of pointless hoping like a 4th installment of MM Star Force. The series had an official end, it wasn't very popular, and IMO the ending was satisfying. I doubt Capcom will continue with the way things are for them so there's no point to hope for SF4 or some cross over or spin off of that and Mega Man. I'd like to be proven wrong but i'm sorry but Crapcom nowadays has a lot to prove and they're half assing it IMO.

Well with Soul-Net and his friendshit with Dr.Tadashi Hikari, Wily also erased Regal's memory of the past 10 years, because he didn't want his son to follow the same path. Wily reformed himself in the next game, after Colonel & Iris sacrificed themselves. Wily made those two for Baryl, his adopted son, and felt as though they were his own children. Shit I would reform myself too if my children sacrificed themselves to right my wrong :|

Damn i love this fuckin series, as a kid playing all 6 year after year of em getting released.. shit .. sweet sweet nostalgia right here.. too bad starforce wasn't nearly as great as this .. ah well we still have these :) everything about this game seems perfect and it gives you those feels , since the story has great lessons to teach.

Now, Duo on the other hand? He can kiss my ass. (Considered hacking the game because no folder I made could accommodate for my lack of skill in trying to kill him. Gave the controller over to my older brother, and he managed to somehow defeat him on the GBA player haaa aftertentries)

It's really a shame how easy Alpha is for how much the story cocked him up to be.
I would love to fight an Alpha that has invincibility frames, he'd challenge Gregar RV, Gospel(H) and Duo Omega for hardest end bosses.
Honestly, this boss was just plain awful to me, though I'm glad you didn't suffer like I did. Of course I'm not the type of guy who can go and grind enemies until his chip folder becomes a dictionary definition of "rape," but then no boss should be easy for someone with that kind of folder. I would've been absolutely fine with this boss if he only regenerated his shield in his Beta or Omega forms. That shield made Gregar and the Life Virus seem like child's play compared to Alpha.
lmfao what are you talking about you don't need to chipgrind to make this boss easy all you need is a Z-Canon1 advance which is not even that good of an advance... he's easy pre 50% hp, and a very simple and easy and often accidentally acquired PA makes his sub 50% easy too.
I fought him the other day without it and I beat him in my first try, still really one of the easiest bosses
I really don't blame anyone for thinking Alpha is a joke, and I don't blame anyone for thinking Alpha is insane. Alpha is just one of those bosses that's sorta like a puzzle: You need to figure out how to fight him or else you won't stand a chance. When I first got to Alpha, I kept getting my ass handed to him time and time again because my chipfolder was not suited to the sort of boss Alpha was: a boss where Multi-Hit Attacks are generally more useful than Attacks that are simply powerful due to his lack of invincibility frames and having a regenerating "shield".
As such, now that I KNOW how to fight Alpha, he's honestly quite easy. Some of his attacks require a good sense of rhythm to avoid, but for Z- Program Advances can take down massive chunks of his health (Fucking Z-Step can take off HALF of his health o_o) and Chips like AntiDmg, Totem, Sensor, Tornado, etc are also very handy in breaking away the shield. But let's be honest, using most conventional strategies like FlameSpreader, MastrStyle, or just spamming powerful chips on Alpha is not something that's very viable, unless you have GutsStyle.
Thanks, I didn't really analyze it that well, but now that I think about it, I had a bunch of shields and heals and stuff, as well as a few high-power one-hit chips. I was ready to fight defensively, and Alpha as a boss just did that so much better because of his shields.

Wow thats really cool man, i got all stars in the emulator (also if you want to play a new game why not in an emulator?), i had to use the "all megachips cheat", BUT only after getting all the other 81 megachips, you know to make it a little more legit, and nah the bugfrag trader wont drop any version of mistman in the blue version or bowlman in the white version, its a shame and sort of unfair because even when these games were new it was really hard to find:
*Someone else with the game
*With the opposite version
*That has gotten that far to face Mistman/Bowlman
*That has leveled up custom style to max and then got the V4 versions
*Link cable (it was hard to find where i live)
*That he was willing to trade them

Even with a charged shot lvl 3 that thing is almost useless against proto/alpha.
That thing takes an hour to charge and it deals 60 - 120 damage (more damage on sand but there is no sand in that battle and it deals even less to proto/alpha) wood doesnt suck but it is not insta-win -.-

My guess as to why Proto/Alpha was never in the Rockman.EXE/Megaman NT Warrior anime was because he was too similar to the D-Reaper from Digimon Tamers.
