Yep, and in gratitude the Northern lords hid in their hovels and refused to lift a finger to help Stannis against the Boltons. Cowards. Jon Snow was an idiot for not accepting Stannis' offer to be legitimized.
+Shireen Baratheon In all fairness "Princess"- Stannis wouldn't be the king who still cared if he didn't kill the 2 other kings who did care. (Renly, and Robb with blood magic.)
The King is still alive in the books. And he has made explicit instructions that if he falls in the battle for Winterfell, his second army will install his beloved daughter on the Iron Throne.
Honestly after what happened at the Red Wedding ( and the direction that Jon's storyline is going ) i lost all hope that a Stark might sit on the Iron Throne some day. I don't want that little brat Dany to win and sit on the throne, she thinks that because her daddy was "The Mad King" the whole world belongs to her, fuck her. I don't want a product of an incest on the Iron Throne ( not to mention that he is a Lannister ). Stannis Baratheon is indeed the one TRUE KING! He has the mind for it, he has the right set of values for it, he actually cares about his Kingdom he's not in this just for the Iron Throne, he is Robert's legitimate heir! Not to mention that he has balls of steel. All hail Stannis Baratheon! The one TRUE KING!
With the way things are going for stannis right now, I dont know if he will ever be able to take Winterfell let alone King's Landing or any of the other forts and cities in Westeros and now he has no place to fall back to, Dragonstone was taken by Tommen's forces and the only place he can go to is castle black but its neutral. Not saying I hate stannis, I think hes the one who should have the throne but he had his shot and now winter is coming. (SPOILERS) The prince of promise will deliver us, ALL HAIL AEGON VI!
If Melisandre has the power to cause deaths like that, why not cause more of them? After all, Tywin was the real threat. If causing deaths by throwing leeches with kings blood in the fire is a gift of hers, she should be using it much more. She needed Stannis to believe in the power of R'hllor and therefore utilized what she saw in the fire.
People that say Dany is the rightful monarch should also say that the children of the forest are the rightful rulers. It's the same logic. Heck it's not only the children, Giants also dwelled in these lands. Although for me the story is more than just kings and thrones. It's about Love and Hate, Loyalty and Treason, Death and Survival, ICE AND FIRE
I wish they would have made an alternate timeline scenes as a bonus or something. I can really imagine Stannis entering the throne room at 1:51 with scenes of Cersei and the Maidens fleeing through corridors, the remnants of the Kings Guard fighting Stannis's men throughout the Red Keep and other scenes of chaos. Epic.
Same man. Still to this day really wish Stannis won the Battle of Blackwater. I think the story wouldve been more interesting that way, seeing the Lannisters have to regroup in the Westerlands while other kingdoms swear fealty to Stannis

@@keneren02 No is Stannis. Polygamy is illegal meaning Jon Snow is still a bastard. Denarys illegally took over several city states usurping their leadership. Her justification was over morality, which was Robert's justification for overthrowing the Mad King. Meaning by her logic, Robert was the rightful king, and thus Stannis.
Stannis was my favourite character cause he is a great gray character that defines this serie. Not a good guy, nor a bad guy, he just makes good or bad choices depending on which counselor he decides to listen (Daavos or Melissandre).
This is show stannis's theme: dark, evil, cold and false. Books stannis's theme for me is the rohan theme from lord of the rings: just, honourable and righteous.
I always thought Stannis was one of the better characters of this show, he truly deserved the iron throne. It felt like they quickly killed him off screen in order to focus on the fan favorite characters. Now Stannis is dead, and Jon Snow's not. Cuz Snow had plot armor, and a big facking fanbase.
@@varunkaushik2732 Evil or not, you can't deny that he was the only character in this show who wanted the throne because it was his duty, and not out of selfishness like all the others besides Bran maybe. The only evil thing he did was burn his daughter, but since he didn't do that in the books it's up for debate wether this was really in-character or not.
@@serrobertstrong1377 hmmm, the books haven't reached that point yet. But he did kill renly and did not like religions other than the lord of light. But he was strict and just when it came to laws tho. Like he wanted to outlaw brothels are some good reforms. But negatives far outweigh the positives.
Except Renly was a usurper trying to bypass the law of the land and would have caused unnecessary bloodshed for a throne he had no right to as he was last in the line. And Stannis also doesn’t fully believe in Rhallor. Hell he was only using Melisandre because Selyse brought her in but became more convinced after the leeches worked. He does bad shit but not without reason.
Just a short story of the last episode. - Your Majesty, we have no food. - TO WINTERFELL - Your Majesty, your wife hanged herself. - TO WINTERFELL - Your Majesty, half of the army ran away and took their horses. - TO WINTERFELL - Your Majesty, your prophet who predicted the victory escaped you. - TO WINTERFELL - Your Majesty, we're going on foor, without horses, what siege are you talking about? - TO WINTERFELL - Your Majesty, we have to galloping cavalry in front of us - TAKE OUT YOUR SWORDS - Your Majesty, we are dead. - FUCK - Your Majesty, today you will be killed. - DO WHAT YOU HAVE TO DO
As soon as Ramsay killed Stannis, his army that was completely made up of cavalry killed their horses so it would be possible for Jon and the Knights of the Vale to kill them later.
Stannis Baratheon, first of his name, king of the Andals, the Rhoynar and the First Men, lord of the Seven Kingdoms, protector of the Realm, Warrior of Light, Saviour of the Night's Watch, Avenger of the North, the King Who Cared.
The King who cared butchered and hung out to dry in the sun. Man Stannis was a really interesting character and it would be cool to see him become the King and later faces the challenge of Dany's claim.
I would also love to see him fight on even as a guerilla, his death in the show was really disappointing. The fact that he was so hostile to courtiers and entitled royals (who are so often the real power players in this series) may have fucked him over no matter what, but the character could have been taken to all kinds of interesting places - especially since, in the books at least, every time I thought he was done he would come out of nowhere with some new crazy attack and plan.
Been 3 years since my knees gave out but I am committed. Edit life sucks doing everything on your knees, getting up stairs, cooking food, showering, don’t even ask how I go to the restroom you don’t wanna know but I do this to stay loyal to the king.
We see a lot of characters in GoT crying/showing emotion talking about the things that happened to them/how they feel. Stannis doesn't say how he feels.. But he suffers them. His silence is full of grief, he has been broken into pieces many times in his life. But it remained inside and no one sees it.
Technically speaking, as far as the Baratheon line goes, Stannis is the one true King, as the Baratheon line took legitimacy by right of conquest during Robert's Rebellion, just as how the Iron Throne was established under the Targaryens in the first place. Call Robert a usurper, but he only did what several other monarchs in real history did, and in worse fashion. On the note of the Targaryen line, the true heir if we were to ignore the Baratheon claim, is Aegon Targaryen, the fifth of his name, the false bastard of Winterfell that they called Jon Snow.
What keeps it interesting is the suspense. They've established that NOBODY, not even the main characters, are safe from death. It makes every encounter tense.
No. they have gotten rid of that suspense. Daenerys, John, Arya and so on; you just knew they wouldn't die this season. Also, Brienne's constant deus ex machina moments; I've never seen thicker plot armor.
+Elliot McGrath Please tell me you realize how inaccurate your description of the dramaturgy is. Plot armor is incredibly thick in GoT. Arya, Brienne and Jon should all be dead by now.
King Stannis Baratheon, First of his name, King of the Andals and the First Men, Lord of the Seven Kingdoms and Protector of the Realm, son of Lord Steffon Baratheon, Lord of Storm's End, and Lady Cassana Baratheon. Our true KING!
From the first episode of season 2 until Stannis dead in last episode od season 5, D&D loved Daenerys and hated Stannis. You can see how much when Daenerys drops his flag in Dragon Stone in s07e01.
Stephen Dillane has very soft eyes, almost benevolent. Part of Stannis' attractive as a character may be due to the actor's portrayal, but also because physically he doesn't fit well with the stern, boring and harsh attitude he is meant to embody, giving off a sense of a clear duality. He comes off as a tryhard (in a good, badass way), which lures in a ton of fandom, some partly empathizing with his claim and some hating him for not being the very best version of what he could be.
Liam Jones She swore to avenge renly who was killed by a shadow having a face of Stannis. Now I don't recall where she said anything about not killing a Baratheon.
Brienne the beauty.... lol what a dumb bitch. Clearly isn't honorable since she sides with the pretender Renly Baratheon who did not have the best claim to the throne since he was the younger brother. Disregards her duty, which is to be a lady of Tarth and not a knight
no he wouldn’t even if stannis did win the battle of black water the lannister army was still out there and on their way to kings landing so if he did get the iron throne it would only be for a short time before the lannisters took it back
@@-_-ligma Lannisters only won because of the Reach's armies, if the Tyrells had sat out of the war after Renly died or if Edmure had prevented Tywin from leaving the Westerlands Stannis would have sat on the Iron throne and successfully defended the city.
If Stannis HAD to die, then it should have been much later... standing down Danaery's and her dragons, Imagine a medley of Dany's theme and this playing while Stannis stands defiantly infront of Drogon with dany's on his back
"We all know what my brother would do. Robert would gallop up to the gates of Winterfell alone, break them with his warhammer, and ride through the rubble to slay Roose Bolton with his left hand and the Bastard with his right. I am not Robert. But we will march, and we will free Winterfell … or die in the attempt." [Knee bending intensifies]
“I trusted in his wisdom and your wiles, and what did they avail me, smuggler? The storm lords sent you packing. I went to them a beggar and they laughed at me. Well, there will be no more begging, and no more laughing either. The Iron Throne is mine by rights, but how am I to take it? There are four kings in the realm, and three of them have more men and more gold than I do. I have ships . . . and I have her. The red woman. Half my knights are afraid even to say her name, did you know? If she can do nothing else, a sorceress who can inspire such dread in grown men is not to be despised. A frightened man is a beaten man. And perhaps she can do more. I mean to find out. “When I was a lad I found an injured goshawk and nursed her back to health. Proudwing, I named her. She would perch on my shoulder and flutter from room to room after me and take food from my hand, but she would not soar. Time and again I would take her hawking, but she never flew higher than the treetops. Robert called her Weakwing. He owned a gyrfalcon named Thunderclap who never missed her strike. One day our great-uncle Ser Harbert told me to try a different bird. I was making a fool of myself with Proudwing, he said, and he was right.” Stannis Baratheon turned away from the window, and the ghosts who moved upon the southern sea. “The Seven have never brought me so much as a sparrow. It is time I tried another hawk, Davos. A red hawk.” - DAVOS I, A CLASH OF KINGS
Stannis is so relatable as a character because he constantly gets the short end of the straw. But he is beloved because he never gives up, sticks to his values and sense of fairness and figures out a way to move forward through the shit life throws at him until he cant go any further and he dies honorably.
I don't khnow why there's a different between the book and the serie In book stannis does not kill his daughter and he don't face ramsy and he don't even die
The books haven't reached that part, but he will most likely not burn shireen (or at least without a VERY strong motivation to do so) & he probably won't lose to the Boltons
Stannis in the books will absolutely not lose to the Boltons. If my memory serves correctly he has them surrounded and have the advantage. He'll win and take Winterfell. Honestly I don't see Stannis dying until (im using the show as reference just to sort of base it down to a possible event) after the Wall comes down OR when Dany starts her campaign across the country. And as for Shireen, never. He would burn whoever would suggest such a thing.
The reason why show Stannis died was to pave way for Jon Snow/Aegon Targaryen because they mixed Jon's plot lines with one of the characters in the books, Aegon Targaryen, Son of Rhaegar Targaryen, heir to the throne. Book Stannis will definitely win that battle with the Boltons because he has some inside help from Winterfell and their allies. Lord Wyman Manderly is siding with him, the Frey's who are Bolton's allies are at each other's throats iirc. So he has them surrounded, and possibly outnumbered.
Theon: Lord Ramsay is the one Your Grace should fear.
Stannis: I defeated your uncle Victarion and his Iron Fleet off Fair Isle, the first time your father crowned himself. ***** Let me guess. You want to say the Brotherhood Without Banners was nearby.
"This is Stannis Baratheon. The man will fight to the bitter end, and then some."
I know no king but the King Who Still Cared, whose name is STANNIS THE MOTHERFUCKING MANNIS.
FUCK YEAH!!
Aaaaand he's dead
+Imperator Caesar Nope
Stannis Baratheon In the show not in the books
+Shireen Baratheon In all fairness "Princess"- Stannis wouldn't be the king who still cared if he didn't kill the 2 other kings who did care. (Renly, and Robb with blood magic.)
The King is still alive in the books. And he has made explicit instructions that if he falls in the battle for Winterfell, his second army will install his beloved daughter on the Iron Throne.
Rarely do themes encapsulate a character so much. This track is so fitting, it’s incredible.
His enemies only need one piece of armor. Kneepads.
Use them or be destroyed.
But... muh... muh dragons!
BLTKellys /Endric Storm's blood (for the books)
BLTKellys Nah, she just saw their deaths in her flames and took advantage of it
If Melisandre has the power to cause deaths like that, why not cause more of them? After all, Tywin was the real threat. If causing deaths by throwing leeches with kings blood in the fire is a gift of hers, she should be using it much more. She needed Stannis to believe in the power of R'hllor and therefore utilized what she saw in the fire.
Can we please talk about how great and tragic stannis character is? He is my all time favourite
mine as well
People that say Dany is the rightful monarch should also say that the children of the forest are the rightful rulers.
It's the same logic. Heck it's not only the children, Giants also dwelled in these lands.
Although for me the story is more than just kings and thrones. It's about Love and Hate, Loyalty and Treason, Death and Survival, ICE AND FIRE
I for one would welcome King Wun Wun.
I think the story wouldve been more interesting that way, seeing the Lannisters have to regroup in the Westerlands while other kingdoms swear fealty to Stannis
they could have done so much more with the whole thing
it should have been like 12 seasons, the scale of it all was way to grand to wrap it up in 8 seasons without the quality dropping
@@2jz-boi real shit bro. Fuck D&D
@@Twxvkvr If Stannis won the battle of blackwater the lannisters would have been so fucked. I think the story fell off hard after the third book. Stannis winning would make it more interesting
The one true king. The only king I believed in. I still come back here now and then to listen to this, let us hope that the books do him justice...
"My enemies have made my kingdom bleed, I will not forget that. I will not forgive that. I will punish them with any arms at my disposal."
Rest in Peace King Stannis Baratheon... the king who still cared.
We want Stannis BACK! The TRUE king! The Warrior of light! R.I.P your grace..
I would have liked to see Stannis stare down the Night King and show him that he ain't scared of him.
"But hundreds will die"
"Thousands will die !!!"(Stannis)
"The Wildfire, their archers, hundreds will die." "Thousands."
yeah sry he just said Thousands

Caerere, I will have prosthetic legs made with bendable knees.
Why isn't this man on the throne already?
He has the rightful claim, he is astute, cunning, but also honorable and just.
The one true King right here!
Daenarys will come in and wreck his, *and* the red priestess's shit up, and hers is by far the best claim.
David Bonilla He technically has right to the throne, Daenarys only has the right if she is able to conquer it. Just because her ancestors had the throne doesn't mean it's hers.
Exactly, the throne was hers to claim up until the Targaryens lost it to the Baratheons. Stannis is the one true King. 8]
He fucked up Robb's plans. Him fucking up ultimately killed Robb.

The True King of the Seven Kingdoms
Is Daenerys Targaryen
No is aegon targaryen ( jon snow )
@@keneren02 No is Stannis. Polygamy is illegal meaning Jon Snow is still a bastard. Denarys illegally took over several city states usurping their leadership. Her justification was over morality, which was Robert's justification for overthrowing the Mad King. Meaning by her logic, Robert was the rightful king, and thus Stannis.
thats your opinion and i understand it but im for jon or aegon

one true king, one throne.. Stannis will live forever in our firy hearts!
I'd pay so much money to hear this live by an orchestra
Stannis was my favourite character cause he is a great gray character that defines this serie. Not a good guy, nor a bad guy, he just makes good or bad choices depending on which counselor he decides to listen (Daavos or Melissandre).
For the grammar is dark and full of errors ....
This is show stannis's theme: dark, evil, cold and false.
Books stannis's theme for me is the rohan theme from lord of the rings: just, honourable and righteous.
True.
Gerard Foran Book Stannis still burned people and had a cold personality
State Briga has*
Hardest soundtrack in all GAME OF THRONES 🥶
I always thought Stannis was one of the better characters of this show, he truly deserved the iron throne. It felt like they quickly killed him off screen in order to focus on the fan favorite characters.
Now Stannis is dead, and Jon Snow's not. Cuz Snow had plot armor, and a big facking fanbase.
He is pure evil. Thank the seven he did not become king!
@@aegonthedragon7303 Well I can't blame Renly for not abiding the law since the Baratheons shouldnt even be in power according to that law.
Such a sad end for a great charcter.

As soon as Ramsay killed Stannis, his army that was completely made up of cavalry killed their horses so it would be possible for Jon and the Knights of the Vale to kill them later.
They sent the horses to whatever place Gendry rowed to.
When you realize this isn't the theme for Stannis or Mel...but the Lord of Light...
Stannis Baratheon, first of his name, king of the Andals, the Rhoynar and the First Men, lord of the Seven Kingdoms, protector of the Realm, Warrior of Light, Saviour of the Night's Watch, Avenger of the North, the King Who Cared.
The one true king.
Westeros didnt deserve him. press F to pay respects.
After watching Episode 3 of Season 8 this theme lets him live on! Stannis spirit saved us
Me walking my dog and trying to encourage him to poop:

“How many dislikes, 100? Less?”

We see a lot of characters in GoT crying/showing emotion talking about the things that happened to them/how they feel. Stannis doesn't say how he feels.. But he suffers them. His silence is full of grief, he has been broken into pieces many times in his life. But it remained inside and no one sees it.
Why do I feel the urge to bend the knee every time I hear this damn tune
my knees have dislocated from bending so hard every time I hear this
Mine are stuck in the floor
Technically speaking, as far as the Baratheon line goes, Stannis is the one true King, as the Baratheon line took legitimacy by right of conquest during Robert's Rebellion, just as how the Iron Throne was established under the Targaryens in the first place. Call Robert a usurper, but he only did what several other monarchs in real history did, and in worse fashion. On the note of the Targaryen line, the true heir if we were to ignore the Baratheon claim, is Aegon Targaryen, the fifth of his name, the false bastard of Winterfell that they called Jon Snow.
Sixth of his name. They already had an Aegon V.
HERE'S A GOOD LESSON TO KEEP A STORYLINE INTERESTING FOR A LONG TIME:
DON'T KILL OFF EVERYONE'S FAVOURITE FUCKING CHARACTERS. IT STARTED WITH NED.
Caerere Indeed
What keeps it interesting is the suspense. They've established that NOBODY, not even the main characters, are safe from death. It makes every encounter tense.
No. they have gotten rid of that suspense. Daenerys, John, Arya and so on; you just knew they wouldn't die this season. Also, Brienne's constant deus ex machina moments; I've never seen thicker plot armor.
+Elliot McGrath Please tell me you realize how inaccurate your description of the dramaturgy is. Plot armor is incredibly thick in GoT. Arya, Brienne and Jon should all be dead by now.
+Guds Skyfall Ah. Apparently I had already responded to this. Can't delete my second comment either. Good thing it deserves to. E said twice.
King Stannis Baratheon, First of his name, King of the Andals and the First Men, Lord of the Seven Kingdoms and Protector of the Realm, son of Lord Steffon Baratheon, Lord of Storm's End, and Lady Cassana Baratheon. Our true KING!

WHY IS MY KNEE BENDING??
To be honest, Stannis was an intriguing character in my opinion
Only Stannis can save Season 8.
no, they murdered him like everything else on the show. The Mannis is my king and D&D fucking butchered him.
From the first episode of season 2 until Stannis dead in last episode od season 5, D&D loved Daenerys and hated Stannis. You can see how much when Daenerys drops his flag in Dragon Stone in s07e01.

The one true and rightful king Stannis Baratheon
I let my dog listen to this, he turned into a bear 😒
Stephen Dillane has very soft eyes, almost benevolent. Part of Stannis' attractive as a character may be due to the actor's portrayal, but also because physically he doesn't fit well with the stern, boring and harsh attitude he is meant to embody, giving off a sense of a clear duality. He comes off as a tryhard (in a good, badass way), which lures in a ton of fandom, some partly empathizing with his claim and some hating him for not being the very best version of what he could be.
They revived the Dothraki after a suicide charge. They could have revived Stannis.

Brienne the beauty.... lol what a dumb bitch. Clearly isn't honorable since she sides with the pretender Renly Baratheon who did not have the best claim to the throne since he was the younger brother. Disregards her duty, which is to be a lady of Tarth and not a knight
If it wasn't for the plot ..stannis would have been on the iron throne
no he wouldn’t even if stannis did win the battle of black water the lannister army was still out there and on their way to kings landing so if he did get the iron throne it would only be for a short time before the lannisters took it back
@@-_-ligma nope if he would have won on blackwater bay ..then he had the advantage of the castle to fight of the lannisters..
@@-_-ligma Lannisters only won because of the Reach's armies, if the Tyrells had sat out of the war after Renly died or if Edmure had prevented Tywin from leaving the Westerlands Stannis would have sat on the Iron throne and successfully defended the city.
STANNIS THE MANNIS!!
But we will march, and we will free Winterfell … or die in the attempt."

This was the best music from game of thrones, the melody has really stuck in my head
The night is dark and full of terrors.
Stannis is love , Stannis is life...
37 Lannisters disliked this.
stannis has always been my favorite character in game of throne
I would follow Stannis into battle, the only true ruler of the seven kingdoms. He would bring justice, true justice to the realm, the kind they need.
A red hawk.”
- DAVOS I, A CLASH OF KINGS
WOW CAN'T WAIT FOR GAME OF THRONES SEASON 5 AND ONWARDS. SO FAR SEASONS 1-4 HAVE BEEN GREAT! *laughs maniacally in total denial*
Stannis is so relatable as a character because he constantly gets the short end of the straw.
But he is beloved because he never gives up, sticks to his values and sense of fairness and figures out a way to move forward through the shit life throws at him until he cant go any further and he dies honorably.
I don't khnow why there's a different between the book and the serie
In book stannis does not kill his daughter and he don't face ramsy and he don't even die
