- 1,200 students, staff and faculty at the University of Alberta unofficially smash the Guinness World Record for most players in a single dodgeball game at the Universiade Pavilion better known as "The Butterdome" in Edmonton, Alta. on February 5, 2010. Everybody pretends to not get hit, don't go out when you catch it, one team hides as far back as possible while the other throws, half your teammates just hold the ball and never do anything with it, everybody gets mad, the game takes 45 minutes . . . and that's a game of 10 on 10 . . .

It is. With real rubber balls they are (What they used to use before). Now schools can get around that by adding another objective in the game and having foam balls (as seen in this video) while calling the game another name instead. it's what my High school used to do.

man how can a school ban dodgeball. A kid gets hit in the face, cries for 10 minutes, and then is seen perfectly normal as if nothing happened 30 minutes later sitting in math class. If you're going to ban dangerous sports, might as well get rid of PE altogether.

My old elementary school banned dodgeball... Also banned tag, any form of football, anything to do with snow, jumping over puddles, picking up sticks, wall ball, and also we had a recess monitor at every play structure. Its so sad what schools do just so they dont have to deal with a lawsuit.

Well, it's almost midnight and I'm watching a bunch of videos on CZcams and now I've just found this one and it reminded me how fun it was to play dodgeball when I was a kid, especially from ages 8 to 12 when we took it seriously as if recess was WAR!!!
Because, YES, we did it to get the rage out and we did it to hurt people who pissed us off and you know what, it was positive in the end because we all had our share. I miss that. I was a shy kid back in the day, I just had a few friends and maybe just two really good ones, I wasn't very popular but when it came to dodgeball I was one of the best out there. I was especially good at catching but I could throw pretty well too. You have no idea how liberating it was to eliminate kids who bullied you or were mean to you. They couldn't fight back because it was all part of the game and they had to go along with it. And you're goddamn right it felt GOOD to HURT them while doing so; throwing the dodgeball in their flanks or heads. And guess what! Nobody was injured and it was a great way to get all this negativity that you end up gathering at school out of your system. Of course we'd go easy on the girls and those who were more-or-less good, but as for the rest, damn, it was so invigorating to throw a ball at full force into a boy's chest, hearing the "BOOMP" noise of the rebound, quickly followed by a "HUFF!" from the boy.
When my siblings started going to school, they removed dodgeball activities during recess. They replaced them with... NOTHING. That's the new way of doing things now it seems. All those kids get fatter, lack energy because they don't spend enough energy, the bullied kids keep getting bullied during recess, they have nowhere to escape, they have nothing to make them feel good and strong and healthy, so they become more and more angry over everything and end up hating life. Not gonna say school shootings are caused by the lack of dodgeball, but it's one of the many little elements that built character in my life. Kids need to do sports but also we need to feel valuable and worthy of something but it's like modern day schools are doing everything in their power to deny that from the kids.
Well, I didn't think I'd write that much but oh well. Time to go to bed.

I think that's what they were trying to do, because if you look at the ceiling camera, the teams would move back and forth. When yellow moved up, green would back up, and vice versa.
