Honestly, looks like a really good hiking shoe. Even reminds me of hiking shoes from the 80s and 90s. Vans tend be light and "hiking" shoes tend to be heavy, so i usually prefer walking in my vans anway.

@prodigalsonresurrection Gave myself plantar fasciitis hiking in my vans, be careful out there lol. Also pro tip - vans' bmx shoes have more cushion and a removable insole. The bmx slip ons are usually on sale too. They just feel like a better made version of the classic slip ons.

As a skateboarder that works for vans, I truly love skating the low zahbas and think they have a great feeling on the board. I hate skateboarding in the mid shoes and think the "boardfeel" is terrible.
Don't know how they managed to make the two so different, but the low Zahbas have been my main skate shoe for a year now.

Some cup soles just have too little grip, but in turn will last for walking miles and miles. It’s always a trade off. I can attest to being hurt from skating a shoe with too little grip, but great for durability. A soft rubber will always be the best for skating, but ofc not be very durable

Ever since Vans dropped the Pro Classics line for the Skate Classics line, the shoes have felt worse. Shoes are longer and narrower in the worst type of way. Even the Skate Sk8-Hi made me roll my ankle multiple times because of a lack of heel stability combined with not enough flex in the forefoot and a much higher heel portion of the insole.
These shoes look sick, but I had to stop buying Vans after loving them for skating and casual wear for 15+ years.

It's a cool look for sure but, given all that being said and the hefty price point when they first dropped, it's safe to say to stay away from them and to a degree, current Vans shoes in general.
I used to love skating Vans when they had the PRO series but when they shifted to the 'SKATE' series (Also, can we talk about how that rename is so redundant?) Things started to fall off badly at least, in my honest opinion. I've skated 3 pairs of the adidas Tyshawn and I've never looked back to Vans since then.

@@Ernie_Creates Fucking awesome man! The traction for me is a solid 10/10. The cushion is just right for me as I'm not too big on cushions being super plush or rock hard, this one is firm and stays strong all day everyday. It's a unique looking shoe as you really don't see that many good midtop cupsole shoes available for everyone (Yes Nike SB, I'm looking at you!) I will admit the break in process is a pain but once that's done the shoe holds up well, the only complaint I have is the tongue slides around as adidas has apparently not caught on to how the elastic straps keep the tongue in place but, that's just a minor complaint for me.

I’ve seen those they seem good. But after seeing this, def not getting them. I had a similar experience with the Gilbert Crockets, rolled my ankle bad retired them. Skated them a year later and tore my meniscus which wasn’t necessarily the shoes fault but no way would I get them again. There’s shoes you can tell you’d roll your ankle if you know what I mean. I'm always skeptical of skate products being advertised with new technology. Basically that is just the shoe company using their consumers (us) in an experiment to see what they can sell us. Nothing works better than classic, basic products. That's why the best selling skate shoes of all time are Half Cabs, Janoskis, and Blazers.

I’ve almost never been a fan of Vans, primarily because most of what they produce is vulcanized shoes. I can’t do vulcs. I liked the Kyle Walker shoes, except the had absolutely no breathability. I just ordered the Rowley XLT because that’s more in my lane and I also liked the original.

i like the wafflecup sole, like on the wayvees. maybe this is different, but the wayvees are super grippy. i'm happy to trade board-feel for comfort and impact protection. for plantar fasciitis you should freeze a 20oz water bottle and roll your arches over it, or pvc pipe, or lacrosse balls. that ish is awful

@@Ernie_Creates i like them for a casual wear shoe, they're super comfortable and decent looking. they have a lot of mesh panels, so probably wouldn't hold up to skating as well as some other models, but i have skated in mine a few times and they worked well and felt great. i just like them so much as an everyday shoe i didn't want to destroy them. the wafflecup is like a perfect blend of a cup sole and vulc. it has grip and boardfeel of a vulc, but is durable and one solid piece like a cup sole so you don't have the failure points/blowouts of a vulc.

Board feel is BS. There is no need. If you put your feet in the right place the board does the thing. I choose impact protection every time. I have never had a shoe be too grippy or not grippy enough but if this is way too slippery it might be bad.
