Thank God for the press. If not for the press and the community groups GPD might not have taken any action. This report is really bad for GPD. How many kids might have avoided becoming victims if the GPD had done their job. And Preston might be alive today. Very sad indeed !
All the parents especially the rich applied kid whose parents got special treatment thru Sheriff's department. On video a deputy driving their car with parents in back seat!
Of course they did. Cops are like school administrators in that they really, really do not want to take sides in a teen fight. It's the two kids fault, 3 days detention for each. It happened to me more than 60 years ago. I have more PTSD from my school days than I do from Vietnam. I live in Gilbert, it's a very nice place to live. I believe the Town did nothing that would besmirch its ratings. I am also outraged that the various non-fatal assaults garnered only probation. That's like giving the bad guys a pass on the first series of beat downs, just don't do it again. Are the victims going to be forced to attend classes with their attackers. I'm a big fan of suing the malefactors, but I think a case can be made that Gilbert's unwillingness to deal with the problem led directly to that boy's death. Something really stinks in the Valley of the Sun.
