Shawan Jabarin
Born in the West Bank, and a graduate of the Irish Centre of Human Rights, University of Galway - Shawan Jabarin is a tireless advocate for human rights and justice, whose dedication to upholding the principles of equality and fairness has had a profound impact on Palestinian lives.
Shawan serves as General Director of Al-Haq, the Non-Governmental, Palestinian human rights organisation and is a member of Human Rights Watch Middle East Advisory Board.
He is no stranger to our University and through his courage, compassion and dedication to justice, Shawan continues to give voice to those whose rights have been marginalised and oppressed. We are proud to recognise his contribution through the award for Law, Public Policy and Society.
