    “Key 💭 “ that works for me is “chest to thigh” it helps with staying linear/ my kick leg.

    So here’s my question. If you are coaching someone in the glide who’s susceptible to landing with their feet too far apart, how can you prevent using the A-drill? Also, if you’re focusing on pushing from your heel driving out the back, wouldn’t that cause dragging at the foot and therefore making the glider susceptible in overextending and not being under their COM?

      @aretethrowsnation Před 3 lety

      Good question. Basically it’s as simple as the alignment of the COM from the start. Too Wide base simply means the COM is on the wrong angle from the start. Likely no Pillar 3 position so the hips shift past the power position and they will be too wide or even drag the delivery leg. Simple concept. Difficult to execute.

      Only the ball of the delivery leg. And that’s always the goal.

    3:07 i dont agree with the analogy. if you wind up with a longer kick leg (providing you dont stand up after), it can increase speed. like a wind up of a baseball pitch. the 100m analogy is not a good one, because there is no "time" to compete with, so a bettter analogy would be a running start, and that gives more velocity over a given distance. there should be a better reason a more coiled kilck leg is not optimal. maybe because the big folks dont need to travel as far and it takes away from the throw if other forces are needed to counter act it, but maybe a smaller thrower would benefit?

      @aretethrowsnation Před 4 lety +1

      Well, I can see you point, and perhaps you are correct for some. which in our system we would find the best style for the athletes. but for the majority, this tip will prove to be more beneficial.
      The more controlled kick leg action is faster. like a Jab on a punch vs a knock out punch.
      The drive leg is the knock out punch, the kick leg is the jab, so we suggest start here and as this is learned, experiment with a longer kick leg like you are advocating.
      Thanks for the taking the time to comment and share your perspective. we also welcome different view points and appreciate it.
