It seems funny seeing these tonight. I bought one of those probably around 35 or so years ago. Still have that car in a box up in storage at my Dad's house. I bet with some work that thing could still go cruising.
This is my first RC Buggy I brought back in 1987 or 88. I'm still having it. Replaced a few front arms and upgraded gold shocks and it still in good running condition.
Literally my 1st rc. Then the Optima. Remember the servo for the speed control with the contacts? Lol. I thought I was something when I started running the Burns dx. The good ol days 👍👌
The 1987 championship is the reason why I chose the Optima over the RC10. I raced the Optima three seasons. I will have the 2019 edition for my collection.
Awesome! I'll be getting this re-release to add to my Kyosho collection. I raced this back in the day after the scorpion, what a major improvement this was.
My buddy had the Ultima pro, really sweet buggy. However I really miss my Optima Pro SE that I use to run a 12T single Jack Johnson Motown missile. One of the best R/Cs I've ever had! I had a Lazer ZXR as well , definitely some of my favorites!
I have a shelf queen from 1989 .. used once They did make it wider , which it always needed (especially the front end) and the battery could be contained longitudinal within the chassis , that is the other change I would have made. Plastic side Nerf's could be used to simulate the old battery location.
I'm sorry but his car had very little in common with a stock Ultima. Very little no nothing at all. In fact in name only and i'm not too sure why the tub chassis is such a turn on when the removed it from his own car ?? Just sayin'.

Thanks for bringing the Ultima back to life but please please please bring back the best Rc car I ever drove. The Optima Mid SE
This guy was on some of my posters growing up. True icon 😎
I can't wait for this to come back I had this when I was a kid
Heck yeah, bought mine in 1989, still going strong
AWWWWW yeah! Yes Joel we are happy it's back. I've been waiting for one of these since I was 11.
Great video, the original is hung on the wall!😊👍🏻
You should also release a Magic Johnson edition Ultima with the same parts as he used to win.
And the Michael Jordan too ,that would be great
Just pre-ordered one from Amain.
Definitely on my must have list!
Awesome photography and momentum.
Very cool. I loved my Ultima Pro.

Gonna buy two!

Sorry I meant Ultima. I also raced the Optima.
I had the Turbo Ultima and can't wait to get this one. I'll get the Turbo also when it comes out. Exciting times.
Can’t wait to drive one!!!!
Kyosho buggy I really want.
The design is really awesome.
Find a associated rc10 gold pan. Much better car.

Kyosho should add a drivers name to the decal sheet for joel "magic" Johnson
Dommage que l'on trouve plus de pièces au bout de 3 ans😭

Kind of funny considering his heavily modified Ultima got rid of the bathtub chassis. Far too rigid out the box for the rough tracks of that period.
How modified were champion cars?
Very nice!!✌🏼😎

First, second, and third were Ultimas. The latter two with the tub chassis.
He thought the tub chassis was innovative.
Tamiya had tub chassis long before.
Tamiya never developed a championship tub chassis that won world events.
