      18 and 6, means that Velvin, fasts for 18 hours and leaves only a 6 hour eating window, ONLY! Your welcome 😊so whatever you will be eating, the feeding window is ONLY for 6 hours and that amount of time. I wish you the best!!!

    I've been intermittent fasting for 2 years with great results. This segment makes IF a lot more complicated than it needs to be. Confine your eating to 4-6 hours daily, lower processed garbage and get some exercise 3-5 days a week. No book needed.

    I did intermittent fasting wo someone’s book program and it honestly helped me lose 6 pounds in 3 weeks. I use to think I could exercise it off but i could never see the results. It was like my body was trying to add weight to compensate. I do the 14 /10. I just now started to exercise and I’m sure the results will be better. I now do 16/8 and excerise 3 times a week. Lost an additional 2 pounds since last post. I use to be an all state athlete and played division 2 sports. I would also recommend a good lotion because your skin is very important living part of your body.

      Yes. You'll see a big difference with the fasting and exercise. I've always fasted intermittenly, not because i planned it but because this is how i eat. I lost 16 pounds in 2021 because of this fast and cycling. The crazy thing is, i did not set out to lose weight. I simply love to cycle...

    1 big meal is more than enough.. then after 6 hours u eat something light like popcorn or flower seeds honey with tea whatever .. then u start fasting ..half of time u will be sleeping anyway 16 hours so doable

    I combined IF (16:8) with a low calorie diet (calories lowered for evening meal only) and no refined carbs of any kind. These 3 things combined has given me the best weight loss ever and something I have been able to sustain for some time. I have lost 10kg. It's done wonders for my concentration as well. I just used the logic of if you keep replenishing your body with food all day it is never going to tap into your fat storage. It really is that simple.

      I am doing a similar eating plan. First time I tried eating time restricted. For the first time I have managed to get my blood sugar levels as low as this. ( 4.9 and 5.4) I am in UK so our readings are not the same as US.

They got rid of him because of all the complaints. The show is diverse they have minority professionals who are regulars. Dr. Ian may be a wonderful doctor but this was not a good fit for him.

    Dr Jason Fung is top notch and very informative on fasting. I also am skeptical of this drink given it contains apple juice which is filled with sugar and will spike insulin levels.

      I agree! If you dirty fast (drink things with flavoring) you will be starving 30 minutes after consuming anything that is spiking your insulin. It can only be black coffee, green tea and water during a pure clean fast.

    It really helps to go high protein and low sugars and carbs. I lost about 25 lbs in three months. Eating lots of carbs and sugar drives up your insulin and you store fat again.

    Eating small meals every 3 hrs is absolutely the wrong way to eat. You'll have constantly elevated insulin and blood sugar... leading to all kinds of metabolic diseases such as high blood pressure, t2d. Especially if your meals are high in carbohydrates.

    We fast 18- 20hrs during Ramadan 😇 depends on the month. I remember in July 2017 it was 20-21hrs and I was working it was tough.

    I do 17-18 hours every day with 5 to 6 hrs of feeding time along with a low carb diet and every other day walking and gym 2 hrs. I got rid of prediabetes, and even though I was not overweight at all; I lost 24 lbs. I am, however: struggling to not lose any more weight, so I have increased my calories from good fats.

    I lost 6 pounds in 6 days by fasting with green smoothie uncooked oats put it in water overnight only 1/3 kale 1/3 tofu almond milk unsweetened no sugars and 1 avocado 🥑 and that did it a I’m still going also 3 hours of walking 🚶‍♀️

    Eat every twelve hours, which means have two meals a day, morning and night (9 to 9). Drink lemon water in between. Eat one third (1/3) of your usual meal size, drink plenty of water after eating and fill in the remaining space with air. Stay away from fizzy drinks. If you are craving for sweat, please eat date. Try this for ten days and come back here to tell me your result. Good luck!

    Great information. I going to start this Intermittent Fasting Process today. The example given for a 16 hour fast was for 10 am, 1 pm, 4 pm, and 7 pm. Because of my work schedule, I'm going to modify the time as follows: 12 noon, 3 pm, 6pm, and 9 pm. I hope it will increase my weight loss. Up to this point, I am down 26 pounds with the way I have been doing 14 hour Intermittent Fasting.
    Hopefully, this method will enhance the process so I can reach 35 pounds or more by the first of the year.

      It’s a good start, identifying the windows. But too many meals. Need longer span between meals in the feast window. When I did the 16:8, I did first meal at 10am, snack ie an apple about 2 and normal supper about 530/6pm. It worked ok but things really happened when I went to 18:6. Meal at noon then supper at 530/6. But everyone’s different and you have to find what works best for you. There are other doctors on CZcams and that are published I like Jason Fung and Dr. Berg who have very good lectures on the fasting subject. I was also a night worker and had to put a lot of flexibility into my fast plan but that’s the beauty of the IF, it is designed so that you can make it fit your lifestyle anyway you want as long as you follow some basic principles and avoid sugar and processed foods.     I’m a *big fan* with fasting. I usually do 16-18 hours fasting. Been doing it for 4-5 years and fell off during pandemic 😷 *and now* I’m getting back on it. *Good luck to those that are doing it!* take it slow and listen to your body is the key *plus* add exercise with it. 😉

      I'm trying...."EAT LIKE A BEAR"...OMAD...most of the ppl lost 100 lbs +. Amanda Rose lost 140 lbs....she started at 280. She was going to hv surgery and she didn't hv to...yeeeeyyy!!

    12 hours is not fasting, it's normal .. you eat dinner at 7:00 and then breakfast at 7:00. 16 or 14 is not enough, you will just keep on using your sugar reserves. Never will go in ketosis

      Pra the secret is if you do this and one day you mess up don't beat yourself up, you can always start and do better the next day, when I started i messed up 3x out of the first week, my quick recovery method is to eat my next 3 meals like a weight watchers meals that I make myself and before I eat drink a 8 oz. Of water with a little bit lemon 🍋 or vingar then I weight myself after 2 weeks and I still lose weight.

      don't drink this smoothie...it's high on sugar with that apple juice, apple, and banana; it would spike your insulin...defeats the purpose...high protein/low carb/low sugar is much better

    Lemon water before a meal is easy to remember. 2 hours after waking up, start eating...2 hours before bed stop. Ready set go!

    Yesterday I finished a 3 day water fast... now I'm currently doing a 47 hour fast... to see how I feel coz I might just eat every 2 days until I lose the last bit of stubborn fat I'm trying to lose.

    Not eating(=eating less frequently) is a WHOLE LOT EASIER than eating all the time tiny portions. I cannot have a tiny portion because my body (my big stomach) asks for a bigger meal every time.
    In other words, eating just a little many times a day literally feels like torture. By doing that I am playing with my will power. But if I just don't eat or skip a meal altogether - I don't have to even think about testing my will in front of temptation again and again and again..... I simply stay away from any food until it's my time to eat. It's mentally so MUCH easier!

    Lemon water before starting eating causes naturally acidic environment of stomach to become alkaline which affects the whole process of digestion negatively.

    Well, I stopped eating after 7pm, and it seems to be working for me. It's rough, I can hear my stomach around 10pm @ night 😳.

      Paige P. When you eat are you eating until your satisfied? If you not then you will not be able continue to do this eating style, I had to find out there is a difference between stuffed and satisfied, when you finished eating you should be very satisfied is full, when you stuff yourself that is a miserable feeling that all you wanna do is lay down, and watch TV, reach for satisfied that a feeling that 😉 should keep you until it's time to eat again, when I do this I don't feel hungry, matter of fact I could put off eating until another hour, but I eat then because I know that I won't eat until I'm stuff I will eat until I'm satisfied and because I'm not really hungry I will eat not as much as I use to, I hope this will help you, I know you didn't ask me but this is what someone did for me when I started 😉 oh PS. When you eat if you make a meal from the weight watcher list you will lose weight. My secret weapon is I drink a glass of water 8oz. 20 mins Before I eat it will help trust me

      @@gerrogero9059 Thanks for letting me know what works for you. I eat until I'm satisfied actually, because i like to have something sweet afterwards. Not eating after 7pm seems to be working for me. You just gotta do what's best for you.

    Wrong idea to drink water before food. It will dilute stomach juices which will make digestion take longer.

    In Islam they fast Mondays and Thursday , then in ramadan for 30 days. Also many other days that are holi. One is not supposed to take water or any food from sunrise to sunset.

    Your insulin doesn't Spike if you eat meat with fat. But it certainly spikes if you eat sugar/carbohydrates!

    I drink mostly water when I fast. Should/can I drink other things besides coffee, tea. I used to juice fast but not sure if that what I should do anymore.

    if you drink water before your meal are you not diluting your stomach natural acid/Enzyme levels, hence compromising the digestion process and allowing less digested food into your gut? As as IBS sufferer i was told do not drink water before or with your meals and only 30 minutes after!

    I do the fasting I use my fitbit for help I log in all my calories as I eat but I try to burn off my calories before I eat them I have two meals a day 9am or 10am and 4pm or 6pm then don't eat anything but night meds at night then repeat I also stay away from pork and shellfish also make the meals low carb if can

    Only thing with IF is don't drink black coffee on an empty stomach. It messes your thyroid up.
    I learned the hard way.

      @@healthhollow7218 messed up my thyroid levels long term . I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism so now I take pills to keep levels balanced. Hypothyroidism makes body hard to metabolize or lose weight.

    This guy is an Internet fasting expert and he’s telling people not to go with an 18 hour fast? Most people that intermittent fast are on OMAD or One Meal a Day aka 24 hour fast. you have to work up to this point and will lose a lot of weight and your cells will regenerate as human growth hormone will kick in and repair your body.

      Turns out, I have been doing 'intermittent fasting' my entire adult life - for Decades, ever since I was in college and was racing off to classes without eating ... and noticed I was never really hungry during the day - AND here is the important part .... I also noticed I felt BETTER when I did not eat during the day, which became my primary motive for not eating during the daytime hours most of my life. I noticed the only time I felt sluggish during the day - was when I ate during the day. This also included skipping added calories like sugar and milk to coffee - as that would also plunge me into a sugar slump.
      People always looked at my like I was from Mars when I told them I did not usually eat during the day - because I felt better ....
      and Not consuming extra calories was just a bonus.
      You can imagine how vindicated I felt when a few years ago this study about 'INTERMITTENT FASTING" emerged ... and has since exploded.
      It was great to find out that research has found that Not Eating was not a way to lose weight - BUT it was in fact much healthier for our bodies and incredible self healing takes place during those long hours without food.
      About once a week -
      I now strive for a 24-26 hr window without food ... as that is when this amazing health benefit called "autophagy" takes place that helps clean up and repair damaged cells. Also, around 20 + hours of fasting - many people have noticed a big spike in mental clarity and focus. During this time I can remember tiny details and names of people from 30+ years ago without any effort.
      FYI ... Recently I have tried to do 36hr to 50 hr Fasts about 2 times a month ... and that is when I noticed a rapid weight loss, and other surprising health benefits.
      It appears, for most people ... our bodies seem to become healthier - the less food we eat, especially carbs. Which probably explains why those in other cultures who routinely fast -have longer life spans.

    I think I can do this 3 weeks in I eat 6 hours and fast 18 hours I’m also plant based not exclusively I eat breast chicken twice a week I don’t snack I’m not hungry at all but I have one problem alcohol sometimes I take a shot of scotch and I’m pretty sure it’s breaking my fast I don’t know if it is I haven’t been on a scale I want to go for 6 weeks then weigh myself

    If you stop eating at 7:30 p.m. you can eat by 8 or 8:30 the next day that's still 13 hours fasting
