    It's a good enough wee machine. I live in the UK and bought a parkerbrand pcs2600 which is identical to this, I think they are based on an echo. Two years later and it still starts and works fine for me. One surprising feature was an adjustable oiler on it.

    Bought one of these a few years back and one of the "surpass" brand 62cc 16" saws for a huge black cherry tree. The county cut it down into my yard and neglected to take care of it after 6 months. I had a Homelite saw when I first got married in the early 2000's but it was really a POS when I bought it new so I gave up on it. We used the Surpass branded saw for 3 days straight without an issue and the little top handle saw did duty off and on for the little branches and stuff. Just pulled them both out after putting them in moth balls over last winter. Still run strong. Hopefully one of these I can get a nice Homeowner size Stihl or Echo. I'll run these until I can afford one.

      I typically don't like any 2 stroke less than 30cc, really any "ice" engine less than 30cc's. I think we have 4 or 5 total 2 strokes less than 35cc's. They all area pain to tune when the seasons change(when the temps change greatly). Having said all of that, this little thing was a challenge to tune but also is the smallest engine we have. Typically it gets alot of use for pruning jobs but also cuts kindling pretty often,furniture, lots of brush. Pretty convenient for lots of chores! I know there's alot of clones similar but are generally different colors, I think Neo-tec used more different parts compared to the other clone makers, I know that's a big thing they do when others are producing direct copies. Overall we are still pleased with ours, gets used couple times a week minimum! Thanks for commenting,Ric

      Yes these are great little alternatives to the higher priced equipment for sure. It functions really well, especially like a small cc 2stroke does lol! Tuning I cam tell will be fun from hot to cold. Right now we are running 50:1 fuel but I think it my be better responsive to a larger amount of oil. A couple of tanks more then we will swap the oil amount and see how she goes. It has some great qualities but also some things can be improved too. Overall in my opinion it is worth it for sure and can be back saver for anyone! We will see how it holds up against the echo top handle which I would guess has well over 100 hours on it and really only slows in hard wood, that started after about 1.5 years of use. Time will tell! Thanks for commenting 👍 and subscribing! Ric

      Hey Wayne! It isn't bad for sure. We actually have an old eager beaver muchulloch top handle that is well passed its prime, it needs to be restored but parts are very hard to find for it, we also have an echo cs355t which was shown in the vid. It has a fair amount of time on it as well but still runs and functions as it should. In the near future the echo will see less time and the new Neo-tec will see more. I just purchased it because I wanted to save the case damage on the echo and use it less. Hopefully this new little saw will function as it should and the low cost will pay off. Time will tell. Top handles have there place and when used correctly they save lots of back ache but time too. Low cost of entry on this thing is a great option too. We will see how it works out, I am crossing my fingers it will be a winner!

      I can tell you that the 892 is a flat out monster of a saw. Mine is all stock and is tuned well for me. It will cut through wood like a hot knife through butter! The card is very responsive to adjustments and responds well from the actual throttle! My advice about any 660 based saw is that when you here it first bark from starting flip the choke to half or it will flood the carb. I have helped many folks with this. Because the carb is so big it will flood if you leave the choke on full after it first barks over. That is very important. Once it barks the first time just take it to half choke and it won't flood. Any 660 does this but most don't know to go to half choke. Other saws it isn't such a big deal, big saws it is a big deal. Enjoy your saw and comment back here to let us know what you think!

    • @CornucopiaFarmstead
      @CornucopiaFarmstead  Před rokem +2

      Yes the saw was a purchase for simplicity, helped with a rebuild and saved a rebuild at the same time! It has picked up and ran right into the wood like we have hoped! It has some big shoes to fill in the echo but also, carry the flag for Neo-tec too. As for the ncs6200 we haven't gotten one yet but I believe it is a clone of the Zenoah saws which a very good saws too. We have several other items we need to tape but haven't been able to film due to life circumstances. Hopefully soon we can get caught up but also maybe enjoy actually working and cutting without worrying about deadlines. Having said all of this I cam only say this about Neo-tec. They are a company that believes in quality along with constant progress and improvement. I know for us personally the are very quick to respond to issues and resolve problems regardless of what they may be. I don't think they will pit products out they don't believe in. I have been trying to get them to produce brushcutter powerheads and complete cutters for well over a year. Basically if they can't make it happen for quality and price, it won't happen. It not only has to preform but also has to be reasonably priced too . As soon as we can make time we try and get our vids produced but unfortunately time isn't always on our side. Please stay tuned and when we are going to get it out I'll respond back to this message! Thanks for commenting 👍and subscribing!

      Yeah if I had to cut 10” wood with that all day long it better be all punky or all powder, it would make for a long day! Ya know I use that little 25cc smoker on all my limb stuff and rounding out saplings for the burn pile. I do use the 355 as a backup and for saplings that have the mid limbs longer than 10 feet. It has a 14” bar on it and it lets me reach in a little farther while I’m holding the limb. I like to trim all my limbs to 5 feet as it keeps everything in the coals. We don’t have a commercial chipper yet so we are having to burn everything we can’t make use of. My point was as I recover from that little side trip, point was the little Neo as a 12” bar and works like a hand tool in tight confines. That longer bar on the 355 can get a gyro effect going if you are just one handing it. Having said all this that little neo and the 872 (killing my fuel and oil consumption!) have been getting used almost every day since November. Fuel and oil and treating them right. • @CornucopiaFarmstead
      @CornucopiaFarmstead  Před rokem +2

      It is a great running little saw and is reasonably priced. The performance is very good in my opinion for a 25cc saw as you can see in this vid against a 35cc Echo that has been fine tuned and well used too. Comparing the 2 saws was just a general use and the Echo is a different class of saw simply because it does have higher grade components in both the plastics and alloys used. This isn't to say the little Neo-tec is of poor quality, simply different alloys and plastics. I am sure the tolerances are slightly different but I can't imagine by much. Neo-tec on all of there saws is striving for a higher standard both in machinery and customer service, I think if you research that you will see Neo-tec works harder for a better product and equipment. Back on the saw for the cost, I personally was not asked to demo this saw but personally spent my own money just to see how good it was. It has great compression, is built well runs well and has features you would expect to see on a top handle. The oiler we actually turned down to the minimum as it feed that strong and could do so possibly because it is such a short and small chain(pico), the double bar studs are a nice touch, lanyard tang is a little thin but I can't see it being a problem. The air filter once taken apart and cleaned several times looses it clasp but I grease the seam on snap filter or seal points anyway. If it didn't say Neo-tec you wouldn't think twice about it in my opinion. No it isn't an OEM but it is very inexpensive. We take exceptional care of all our equipment and have many clone and OEM pieces all of which are bone stock with no mods. Honestly other than wear and tear, we don't have problems. If I run over this or drop it I'm not going to be as sore as I would had I dropped a high dollar OEM. That's a win in my book! I hope this helps bud. Thanks for commenting, Ric.

      Hey John! Yeah, its kinda tuff to spend money these days, especially on something like this. There is something to be said of top tier v/s clone saws. It all boils down to what you can afford really, at least it is for us. We have an echo top handle($400) an old eager beaver($$)and now this little doll. It works well but does lack power. As long as you not cutting hard wood limbs greater than 2" its worth it, more than 2" or even 4" if your rounding, then its worth it to me. I have found cutting more than 4" rounding you are wasting fuel and oil plus the time it takes to replenish all of that. Our cs335 need a top end but is a couple hun for that so I just bought this doll and turns out it works fine once it is tuned(which takes a little bit). I enjoy this saw and use it several days a week right now what has been since September of this year(2023).

    • @CornucopiaFarmstead
      @CornucopiaFarmstead  Před měsícem

      You probably need to adjust the oil delivery screw on the bottom of the saw. You will see where it has an arrow that directs which way to turn for more or less oil. It is also possible the vent hole for the oil tank could be blocked or clogged. Usually this is the only other problem. Though it is possible I doubt the clutch drum is off the oil drive ring but this could be possible too. Good luck! Ric

    • @CornucopiaFarmstead
      @CornucopiaFarmstead  Před rokem

      Not sure if it will bud, I don't know that it would perform as well with a 14 on it, we have an echo that has our 14 on it and that is the only bar we run for it. I try to keep the smaller machines with the same bar rather than switching, if we had fewer saws we would swap them out but as we don't need to we won't. I would think it would pull it fine but the chain speed ramping up and cut speed would be drastically changed.

    What other chains can be used on this saw and what fuel ratio is good for this saw?

    • @CornucopiaFarmstead
      @CornucopiaFarmstead  Před rokem

      Hey Robert! The standard chain that came with the saw is a 3/8 low profile .050 gauge chain. This is also known as a 3/8 pico or picco some call it. Pico's are used typically on short bar small cc(generally less than 30cc's. I wouldn't recommend a normal 3/8 .050 for the drag and weight. Chain speed is everything on these small saws but weight is a big factor too. The package is meant to be lite weight and a larger chain will be noticeable both in response and handling. Neo-tec recommends 25 to1 for breakin and 40 or 50 to 1 when broken in. We run all or our equipment at 50 to 1 even on breakin. We only run the larger cc(70cc or above) at 25 to 1 during breakin, then change them to 40 or 50 to 1. Tuning along with time of year affects when I change from 40 to either 50 to 1. The oil we us is full synthetic VP racing 2 stroke oil, we have used it for many years. Thanks for commenting!

      I use vp racing full syn 2 stroke oil at 40-1 in the summer and 50-1 in the winter, if the temps are normally 40* and below I will keep it at 50-1, once the ambient temps are regularly above 40 I will switch back to 40-1.

    I just ordered this saw. What ratio do you run it at? It says 25:1 but some folks like to use less it seems.

    • @CornucopiaFarmstead
      @CornucopiaFarmstead  Před rokem +4

      Yeah we typically run the larger cc saws (over 60cc minimum) at 25 to 1 when we are heat cycling the motors, the smaller cc saws I will run in at 40 to 1 then depending on how quickly they free up(usually around 2 tanks)I will take them to 50 to 1 on the smaller cc engines. Once the +60cc saws are ran in they will go to 40 to 1. Once the ambient temp gets to 40* or less ill usually run at 50 to 1. With this saw being less than 30cc I found it responded to air fuel adjustments much quicker than saws that are greater than 35cc. Theory behind this is related to the volume of air moving through the system. I have found this true on all engines smaller than 35cc's. They can be a challenge to tune. My advice is to establish a baseline on low and high. I back the screws out to where it won't idle and set the low then set the idle. Once the low and idle are set I will now tune the high. If your idle is tuned first then your Low is effected by position of the idle screw. This will give you an improper position which affects your high adjustment. So when tuning just consider this and you will have a much better tuned machine. Rule of thumb is 1to 1.5 turns out I a good baseline to start. Also you can just run it right out of the box and adjust from there. I don't assume you do or don't know about tuning which is why I say this. However if you know about tuning then just disregard all of this information. Hope this helps !

I do not want, nor desire my OPE buying experience to feel like I’m dealing with an aloof, disinterested, unprepared, out only for a sale, used car salesman who only works bankers hours and almost never has exactly what I need it stock but can “order it and have it in a ‘couple’ days…” Nor do I wish to deal with businesses who can’t seem to get a live person on the phone “please pardon our staffing issues” or get a call back - without two or three additional calls first. Chainsaws, blowers, trimmers, etc are simply not complicated enough, not do we any longer live in a world where you are forced believe the BS of salespeople who stands to gain from a potential transaction (versus impartial online reviews from real people) to deal with dealers any longer. Every local dealer seems to close at 5pm (at least officially- more like 3:50 in reality) and noon on weekends - if they open at all. Ever since Stihl landed in Rural King the question on “why the heck am I even paying these prices any more - instead of buying a Husky from a different big box store with MUCH better coverage in numbers of locations” becomes an even more valid consideration. Good luck Stihl, sad to say but your days are numbered.

    Looks like this 25cc saw cuts faster then the 92cc saw that neotec posted on Amazon. Did you take the rakers down on your chain? I always do with mine but i will point out if the operator is fairly green running a saw they should leave the rakers alone. A kickback happens fast and unexpected and theres no reason to put yourself at risk like that, especially for a homeowner or someone cutting a tree that fell on a trail. The ROI isnt worth the risk.

      Neo-tec and really many of the clone makers aren't the best at using the equipment they produce. We have actually offered some advice to some of them when it comes to advertising ways to use equipment in the American market. I don't think they are very fluent with tuning also. They approached us on making some training videos for them when it comes to all aspects of use but we just can't do that while also respectfully making a video just for the sake of making a video. We don't mind making them the way we have but that's about all we can do I suppose. Here the last few months we have only had time for ourselves which is why we haven't shared anything in a while. As for the saw that was a stock chain and other than tuning the saw it really hadn't seen any load work until we made this video. Neo-tec have produced chain but haven't released bulk rolls yet, I do believe the quality of chain and the features the chain have are very good and competitively priced, bars are a little high but are good quality in my opinion. For the rakers I do flie them down or make custom angles depending on what I am doing and like you mention don't recommend this for someone who has little experience for sure! The chainsaw market is getting competitive in the clone prosumer side and that is a good thing for those of us who can't afford the top tier high-end stuff, I like where it is going! I don’t disagree with you on that. But know that most of the plastic polymers and additives used in plastics come from china India and a couple other countries. Most come from china though. I can tell you this little top handle is use every(7 days) day of the week most of the time. It sets in the sun most of the time unless it is stored for the day. Though some of the plastic is showing “uv” degradation, the important plastics are holding up just fine. I use some not friendly to plastic/rubber chemicals when cleaning and other than the rubber, the plastic is fine. For the consumer who doesn’t have the funds for the oem saw these make great options especially if they aren’t used in a commercial sense. We use them commercially and they still suit us just fine. You sure could if you held it above your elbow. It is pointing down but it is a possibility for sure. Many of the 25 to 28cc saws have the same layout for gas exit. It isn't much different than our cs355 as it come straight out the back and will burn you when you hold it directly in front of you, this also is oddly placed. With this saw it isn't near as bad compared to the cs355, you just have to be mindful while operating. Thanks for commenting 👍and subscribing!

      For myself I am sure looking forward to cooler temps. Our grandkids were here over the weekend and I had to turn on the furnace for them. It dipped down into the 40s, which isn't bad for north central West Virginia. I liked that new Neotech saw. Perfect size for topping trees. I've never owned one but I can definitely see the usefulness. Thanks Ric. I recently bought a Echo CS 590 Tinmerwolf. It does a fine job cutting firewood. Hope you and the Mrs are doing well.

      @@deanbarr5740 hey Dean and Good Morning! Enjoy them while they are young, the world could use alot more of what you folks are doing, seems that is the problem most of the time. Folks think connection are a text or a reply and don't realize they need more than that. Time together is what we are made of which is why today it is so hard to make things happen and why it is so difficult when we are together now, people have lost those abilities... Anyway I'm going down a rabbit hole! We are doing well friend, busy as always and not enough waking hours for sure! Give my regards to the family and enjoy the fall weather coming! All the best sir!

    Comparing that neo-tech / Jon cutter to the echo 355t is laughable. I own both the 335t and the Jon cutter have used both in the tree and if you want a pro saw that is reliable with power go with the echo . The neotecs / Jon cutters are cheap saws only good for light work , my Jon cutter blew a clutch only after about 8hrs on it and my echo has been running strong for years with zeros issues . I don’t know how much neotec is paying these guys for reviews but don’t be fooled if you want a quality saw that’s going to last go echo or stihl .

    • @CornucopiaFarmstead
      @CornucopiaFarmstead  Před rokem +5

      You make a great point and observation. Our review hasn't billed this saw as a pro level saw and by the video you can see the performance difference which is a real world difference between the 2 saws. This is why we used the only top handle we have for the comparison. Neo-tec and FT along with many others simply offer an alternative to a higher priced anything company, they are an economical alternative for people to choose from. Having said this we do have saws from all of these brands and for the price of entry some folks could never make a major repair without going broke in the process, this is where the other manufacturers in the market step in and help. Will this or any other saw perform more or less better or worse? That is up to the owner and the user, after all, price is sometimes the dominating factor when it comes to having a service performed or even making a purchase. Thanks for commenting! We are not paid other than receiving the equipment.
