- Of the many Nintendo games on the N64 that are praised for taking things to the next level, I'd argue that F-Zero X is one of the company's brightest (and fastest) shining examples!

I wasn't a huge fan of N64 as a kid...but this game got played A LOT. Easily one of my favorite racing games. The soundtrack and general energy of this game is through the roof!
One my the top 5 favourite racers of the 90s. DEFINITELY a top-notch game.

F-Zero GX is a definitive futuristic racer title, but F-Zero X had laid down ALL the ground work for it to shine with a hardware fully capable on delivering the vision. It's insane how much new stuff F-Zero X brought to the table. And btw, before I played it, I had no idea what 60fps was and how good it was for fast paced gaming.
There is a hack for the rom of this game, which makes the popping disappear (the creation of polygons very close to your view), and thus the tracks are all complete from the moment it is loaded.

my preferred F-zero game. The Gamecube one is also gorgeous but I struggle to control the vehicles with as much confidence
For me it depends on the day, on some days I prefer X more because it is easier to pick up and play, and then on other days I prefer GX when I'm feeling up for the challenge.
Been considering picking this up on n64 as my next game. After this I probably will. I sadly missed out on F-Zero growing up
You definitely can't go wrong with F-Zero X when it comes to good N64 racing games, and it's never too late to give any of the F-Zero games a shot!
