  • A bill has been submitted to the United States congress calling for a full review of the country’s relations with South Africa. This came after the International Court of Justice ruled in favour of South Africa that it's plausible that Israel has committed acts of genocide in Gaza. The bill accuses Pretoria of being inconsistent with its policy of nonalignment in international affairs. And that South Africa is siding with America’s adversaries including Hamas, Russia and China. International Law Expert from the University of Johannesburg, Prof Hennie Strydom weighs in.

SA must decouple from the US. AGOA benefits the US and not South Africa. South Africa has been the cash-cow of the US for too long.

The problem is we need the US donations. South Africa does not produce enough wealth to survive. And we lose a lot of money to Zimbabwe, Nigeria, Somalia, Pakistan, India and China.

This is very bad for RSA.
If ypu are paying more money for less food compared to last year then you are getting poorer.
South Africa currently has a budget deficit. Deficit means RSA is paying out more money than RSA is generating. a Budget surplus is when the country is spending less than the country is receiving(which it is not).
RSA loans currently stands at 77℅ of the yearly gdp. This is the highest outstanding debt to gdp Rsa has ever had. Pakistans economy collapsed at I think 87℅. Usa cannot be used as a benchmark as more than 50℅ of their currency is used outside of their country.
IDK why the Anc is spending money we do not have. Maybe the Anc think it will cause people to vote for them. Maybe they want our economy to fail. Maybe they want hyperinflation before we can get a chance to have an election. IDK.
I just know RSA cannot afford the loss of agoa, not now. IDK where all this hate is coming from, but I think its best to start focussing on growing RSA and what is good for RSA.

I mean, usa gave us money in covid time, we have people here work home based in america, we get so much from usa that we really cant afford to loose them. Yet, what has russia, china and palestine etc done for RSA as a country. Only helped the ruling party and colonialised from the east

South Africa is not neutral. China and India are neutral. Soon Brics will only really comprise neutral countries who contribute to advancement of human kind. South Africa is no longer a country that innovates, it just consumes what others innovate. This is an empirical fact. So having big egos that we dont need the west, does not mean the east will allow us to ride on them for free. When SA coal and iron ore runs out, we will realise, we add no real value to anyone in the east and they will realise it too.

The US congress is entirely corrupted and guilty of genocide in Palestine! A majority of Americans want a permanent ceasefire and we are ignored. We are experiencing more hunger, poverty and starvation here because our tax dollars are spent on endless wars to maintain hegemony over the world that benefit the elite at the expense of the majority. The world is changing. The US is a dying empire that must-stop threatening , sanctioning, bombing . Now is the time to support all efforts for peace , stability and cooperation.

@@cloudstrife8791 First of all South Africa doesn't owe America anything. Secondly if America removes there companies out of SA its America who will actually loose because all those companies that left SA would be replaced with companies that sell the same things that the one's that left but from BRICS nations meaning Chinesse companies would replace American companies easly in SA to close the gap that were caused by American companies leaving. By doing so the South African economy would continue to thrive and those American companies that were I'm SA would go bankrupt and cease to exist. American companies are replaceable they are not the only ones in the world that sell whatever there companies sell, there are many other countries companies that sell the same things and some are even better than the American versions of those products.
