The voiceover joke didn’t make sense. Why was it a joke that he would do voiceover work? He has a nice sounding voice, speaks well and is very easy to understand.
I’m American so maybe it’s an accent thing that I’m not catching on to??
I think it's because Noel had done some voice-over work since the original show wrapped
It's an exaggerated silly voice, not many people would actually speak like that so it would be unusual to hear in VO
It's because that's most of what Katherine Parkinson did in between the original run of the show and that scene.
While Noel Fielding is something of a name in VO now, at the time that joke was written he'd barely dipped his toe in while Parkinson's voice was all over TV and radio advertisements in the UK (still is)
