    This was incredibly comprehensive and helpful. I'm currently looking into buying a 2010.

    I love the child seats in the back. My wife pushed me to get a more family friendly car vs my 08 Golf R32... I went with a 2012 ISF and my excuse was it had 4 doors:) But I did surprisingly find out that you could put a rear facing child seat in it. 4 years and 40ish k miles later this car is still rock solid.
    I am using these tires and they feel nice and are reasonably priced: Bridgestone Potenza S-04 Pole Position XL (less than 200 per tire when I bought them)
    It's a practical car that is fast and reliable.

      eco8gator I feel the same. I even leave mine in during track days. All daddy's know they are a pain in the ass to remove and install. lol

    Hey mate, thanks for sharing the video. Just came back to look through the ISF vids on youtube (still cant afford one though, still dreaming). In Australia we just had a national recall for all vehicles with defective TAKATA airbags. Apparently they have been going off prematurely, and I saw most if not all years of ISF have these bags in them. Might be worth checking/researching for your own safety. Drive safe and enjoy the drive!

    Hey, man, great video. super helpful since I'm in the market for an IS-F! I think like me, a lot of people here are also considering the IS F as an alternative to the E92 M3. The main thing that makes me skeptical is the transmission, I've driven a manual for years now and the thought of switching to an automatic that isn't even a dual clutch takes some effort. I'm going to test drive a 2008 this week, I hope the IS-F can surprise me.

      Alex Jacobi I think it will. The torque is delicious. Also much cheaper to service and own. The tranny rev matches flawlessly and make sure to put it in sport when you test drive. Switch is in front of your right knee

      @StockAL3Xj Před 7 lety +1

      I really hope it does. I have a 4Runner with nearly 250k miles and the thought of having a car that is even close to the reliability of my car AND comparable to an M3 gets me excited.

      Prepare to be blown away if you buy it. Like I said, its not just the great performance. Its the ownership experience. You can rely on it even if you track the hell out of it. The CCSR race cars use the exact same engine and transmission as the street version. This is the first F car so Lexus made sure it was unbreakable lol

    Got my IS-F last month and good to know about the tyre wear issue. Looks like I have the issue. Will get the control arms upgraded. I also have the loud ticking in the morning. I plan to upgrade the headers so will just ignore it but good to know where it's coming from! Thanks!

    Hi from Aus. Great info,thanks. On the older model with the original wheels, what’s the largest tyre you would put on without compromising handling, I might do light track work. Do recommend any basic suspension mods . Intake , oil separator, tune , headers or just catback and primary cat delete. We can get away with that in my hometown. Thanks for any advice.

    Rule of thumb is that RWD cars are set to heavily under steer from the factory. It's to prevent idiots from crashing into a tree. Simple fix, change the alignment and get better tires. The end.

    • @the_track_enthusiast
      @the_track_enthusiast  Před 5 lety

      NOPE !! STILL UNDER STEERS. The F requires a wider rear sway bar, alignment pieces, and better tires. The beginning

    • @the_track_enthusiast
      @the_track_enthusiast  Před 7 lety +1

      Juan Martinez listen for loud ticking when cold, check coolant level make sure it's full. If it's low walk away, it has the valley plate leak. Check the dash and door panels for any melting . Also drive the car when cold and check for shift flares. Check the tires. The rears go fast

    • @JuanMartinez-et2lh
      @JuanMartinez-et2lh Před 7 lety +1

      I8ABMR does the valley plate leak happen over time?

    • @the_track_enthusiast
      @the_track_enthusiast  Před 7 lety +1

      Juan Martinez usually cars 60k and over . When U open the hood the coolant reservoir is right in front of you. Use the flash light on your phone to light up the tank . The markers are on the side. There is NO reason for it to be low. If it is it's a 2k fix !!

      @JuanMartinez-et2lh Před 7 lety

      I8ABMR thank you! Im currently looking at a 2010 with 47,000 miles they want 34k is that a good price or should i talk them down a little bit?

    I just test drove a 2012 and sure enough it had the belt chirp. Is the manifold issue on every year or just earlier models? www.norcotruck.com/2012_Lexus_IS%20F_Norco_CA_10299122.veh

    • @the_track_enthusiast
      @the_track_enthusiast  Před 6 lety

      valley plate is all of them . its based on mileage. If its over 50-65k check. It might have already had it done. Belt chirp can be fixed for $160 in parts plus labor. Super cheap. My second belt replacement worked . Never had the noise back

    • @jmasoncars4452
      @jmasoncars4452 Před 6 lety +1

      I8ABMR thanks for the reply. I will defiantly be getting an extended warranty when i purchase one. Cracked manifold that causes the tick at idle is all years as well?

    • @the_track_enthusiast
      @the_track_enthusiast  Před 6 lety

      Yup !! When they get older the crack. Not all but many. Many owners dont care since they want after market headers. Oem will be quiter and less drone

    The 2012's had wider wheels, but did they get wider fenders too? Anyone know?
