Robotnik's inconsistency is explainable: He's insane.
A genius by heart, his insanity has a form of brilliance to it.
Adventures of Sonic Robotnik: "He only put me at number eight?! I'll show him who the greatest, villainous warlord is! Scratch, Grounder, prepare the bouncing r-r-racoon cannon!"
While I don't agree with some of the placements like Lost World Eggman being so high up, since Lost World in general comes off as melodramatic to me including Eggman, this was a pretty interesting video so props on making it I'm interested to whatever new content you make in the future
I honestly prefer the Jim Carry Robotnik if only because after years of making Eggman a joke for the majority of the time, the Cinematic Universe actually gives us an Eggman that may be funny but can be very intimidating.
The sonic movie isn't supposed to primarily be a sonic origin. It's more like "Eggman Begins" and that's probably the reason they made his design so dramatically different from the games. Still the end design isn't perfect and definitely shows eggman can't be 1:1 adapted to live action. As far as personality goes, you either love it or hate it. Conclusion: not awful but has room for improvement.
if Im correct wouldnt movie eggman be their equalivent to Ovi Kintobor
@@SuperGamefreak18 eh... mostly.
@@andresmaldonado8587 im more making a comparison because i forgot all about Ovi until recently. This was them throwing in eggman in realism
@@SuperGamefreak18 I see
This is a good list but I heavily disagree with his Sonic X placement, At least in the JP version. Eggman had a lot of threatning moments in that show and was a fun character imo.
Yeah the worse of Sonic X was the dub being made by 4kids...cause he was pretty competent cocky and wasteful but competent now if the dub didn't downplay that
Yeah, was super confused as to why his Sonic X appearance was that low. He was menacing, heartfelt, funny and an absolute joy to watch.
I decided to address my stance in my new video on the channel, since there are a lot of people who seem to like Sonic X's version.
Eggman robotnik should be in smash,
His ultimate would either be
1.summoning his mech to wreak havoc
2. Summoning metal sonic to act as a independent fighter to help the player.
3. Calling in his fleet to rain fire on the fightline
I feel like something worth mentioning about the AOSTH version of Robotnik is that, as far as I'm aware, he at one point became god-like and is the most powerful of all the Robotniks. At the end of the 4 "Quest For the Chaos Emeralds" episodes he simultaneously possessed the power of invisibility, invincibility, immortality, and the power of life and really the only way he was defeated was because Sonic has plot armor.
Also when it comes to not being able to take him seriously, I don't think that could be further from the truth. Yeah he's mostly a joke, but he can be manipulative, deceptive, a master strategist, chaotic, and just pure evil at times. Throughout the series he's tried enslaving the people of Mobius through trickery or hypnotism, committed actual acts of terrorism, tried creating a world-wide famine as a wedding gift to himself, basically duct-taped a nuke together using his most basic robot making machine, had full intentions of killing many side/main characters, didn't even hesitate to sacrifice Scratch and Grounder and outright attempted to kill them for good once, always haggles with fake money to buy what he needs, fooled Tails into inventing a machine designed to kill Sonic (which only lost due to pilot error), forced an entire village to starve unless they carved a mountain into a bust of himself, built himself a son robot in his own image but didn't hesitate to dismantle and destroy it after it betrayed him, technically created the first ever Metal Sonic (if going by release dates of the games and cartoons), will silence any and all forms of media that negatively portray him then fill the gap with only propaganda, tried flooding an entire town just to make a lake and name it after himself, and emotionally manipulated Tails by making robots that resembled his long lost parents as part of a trap.
I feel like a lot of these moments that make AOSTH Robotnik an actual good, threatening, and serious villain are overshadowed by the memes, YTPs, and excessive goofiness the general audience has associated with him. However I believe he has a great blend of intimidation and comedic relief to make him one of the most entertaining Robotniks of the entire series.
I love AOSTH Robotnik, as far as taking him seriously, it's just harder to take a character seriously when it's harder to take the world in general around them seriously.
In a show like AOSTH it varies a lot from episode to episode. If someone had the time to I'd love to see big video essay made on ranking Robotnik appearances per AOSTH episode.
In all honesty I think putting movie Dr Robotnik as the worst eggman incarnation is false in my opinion because the sonic movie is it's own universe, yes eggman in the film both looks and acts different compared to the other version but I think the movie is establishing it's own take on the sonic characters which is why eggman acts differently compared to the other interpretations of him. Also I think the sonic movie is somewhat supposed to be an origin story for both sonic and eggman.
If I had to place eggman I would place him at 6th best in my opinion
Tru Dat
Yes.
Sonic 2 is out now, and yeah, this guy's viewpoint aged TERRIBLY. Movie Robotnik was just getting set up in the first one; he's full-on Eggman straight out of the games in the second.
While this was a good list with proper presentation I’m not too sure how much I’m siding with movie robotnik being the worst incarnation ever. Primarily because it’s supposed to be an origin story in the form of a slow progression toward full blown eggman. While the films story is vastly different from anything official it’s got it’s own starting point and is taking an otherwise outlandish character and bringing it into reality with as natural of a progression as it can have while maintaining a pg-rating. While as you were saying essentially defeats the purpose of said character that’s what the film is attempting create over the course of 2 (potentially plus) films. I know at first glance of movie ones reveal I was just as off board with everything as you are, but its a bit too early to defame him as of yet. Seeing that an actual person resembling eggman was officially on screen for less than or equal to 30 seconds there is much more to see from this version play out now that basic origins have been established outside of just “I hate that hedgehog.”
Thanks for the comment. If he was in the appearance from the last 30 seconds for the whole time, yes, he would definitely go higher on the list. From my perspective, I am mostly just wondering why the second movie wasn't the movie they started with.
I also don't know if that second movie is going to be any good! Regardless, if it existed at the time I made this video, I would have ranked it separately. As you can see, I did not punish every Sonic Boom property to be as bad as Rise of Lyric, I judged them on their own merits.
@@VillainousWarlord They didn't start with the second movie because they wanted to test the waters with the first. Since it was a huge hit, the second one is allowed to be more expansive.
I wasn't a big fan of the first movie, but I ended up watching the second movie twice. And it made me hate the first movie even more. I genuinely think that they should have started with Sonic 2.
AoStH's Robotnik is the very best over all other Eggmen, imo
No.
Yea, Aosth Robotnik is the best

He'll have to give himself a PROMOTION!
Eggman was originally going to be the protagonist of the Sonic games. His final characterization is definitely different than the original concept art, but I really do wonder sometimes what the series would have been like if he stayed the protagonist.
The sonic riders eggman disguise feels more "Dr wily's secret mentor Mr. X" than team rocket in terms of blatantly obvious disguises.
EDIT: You forgot, in shadow the hedgehog's egg breaker fight, he also says "Lights out!" when he does a different attack. So it's just those 2 phrases being constantly uttered and it's incredibly funny out of context, though annoying when actually playing for the first time.
Finally someone who doesn’t think satam is some timeless unflawed masterpiece and doesn’t rank that robotnik as number 1
at 40:51 that robot's face was my face after hearing that joke lol
Ranks the sonic movie Eggman as the worst incarnation
Sonic movie gets featured for sale under the description
This was Eggman's plan all along
Really great list, I’d say. I especially enjoy you bringing up the SatAM interpretation, although I kinda wish you brought up his mechanical arm. That was something that I hear a lot of other fans don’t really get behind, but it probably wouldn’t hinder his placement at all.
Here’s hoping that Sonic Movie 2 will do good enough to do better than 06, Sonic Movie 1, or Rise of Lyric.
After the first trailer we have, he’s already probably better than bottom 5.
love the content
This is really awesome and I really appreciate the hard work you've been doing. Props to you, also will you someday do a full Sonic SATAM Cartoon review?
Thanks for all the support on this video! Video chapters are now up, finally. CZcams refused to let me have them until I reached some arbitrary subscriber threshold for whatever reason.
When Sonic Prime ends, and if you ever watch it, you should totally make a pinned comment giving your thoughts and telling us where you'd put that version of Eggman in this ranking.
Actually they did a poor job at showing it but he DID attempt to use the mind control laser, the issue was that first boss's destruction lead to the laser being damage and Eggman being distracted with....whatever didnt notice it expect when it blew up in his face. Also I think in heros he was trying to keep the choatics from knowing it was him...for whatever reason.
those eyes in sonic 06
Awesome and well-analysed list dude!
Now How about a ranking of every Mario boss battle(Yeah,i know it would be INSANELY LONG but a man could dream right? lol).
Mario is just so big we'd have to split up a lot, but I'm looking forward to doing something Mario eventually! It could be Bowser specifically, Paper Mario, the RPGs in general, or the platformers. What would you be interested in?
@@VillainousWarlord Do a video on Bowser then,I Think it would be to see what you think about "certain battles"(*COUGH *COUGH Galaxy 2 *COUGH *COUGH)
@@VillainousWarlord Oh hell yeah, I love rpg bowser
27:19 actually is confirmed Eggman is controlling silver sonic since the original version of silver sonic isn’t a robot with a IA but another mech for Eggman to control (that’s why he’s part of the MK series like Mecha sonic which has a actual AI and ability to think for himself even surpassing other robots in intelligence)
I really love your ranking videos (like this one and the Donkey Kong one), you should make one for how hard it is to complete a Sonic game without killing a singular enemy from easiest to hardest (with the impossible games being ranked on how far you can get without killing an enemy).
Also you should probably rank all 6 main Sonic Adventure campaigns (except Super Sonic) separately, as each one has a lot of differences that make them either easier or harder.
There is very good reasons that eggman and bowser do not betray each other. Besides the obvious 'Neither company wants to have their villain be lesser' of course.
Eggman is usually the betrayed one and not the betrayer. He was even willing to pay the Chaotix (once he has the money to spare). Turns out, he has not a lot available income for a person running a lot of casinos. This may be because nobody seems to visit them, maybe because the robotic staff is trigger happy.
Bowser, well, Bowser simply is a very honest person. He got, in the RPGs, been betrayed as much as Eggman, and yet he does usually keep up his side of the dealings. Also, very willing to join in casual sports and being surprisingly not much of a cheater.
Of course, both characters are rather... inconsistent... Getting either not much character at all or some hyper focus on one aspect. Often the aspect is that they lose at the end or are overconfident. And it is not like they can not back up their confidence outside of their assigned hero showing up... Anyways, they both have in common that they enjoy taking matters into their own hands, so I am not surprised they get along so well.
Bowser does usually take loyalty quite seriously. He remained loyal to Ganondorf until getting betrayed by him in SSBB's story and when he's revived he's livid about it.
Maybe I’m just biased since I unfortunately grew up with Eggman first and not Robotnik like older fans, but Jim Carry is just too damn funny that it’s hard to call his portrayal insulting… the worst was all the Robotniks SEGA used to intimidating like Cummings but just turn them into Eggmans, goofy and silly with no menace at all or death.
The Sonic Movie is just a comedy reboot/reinterpretation of the franchise but in a good way for new fans but also to pay homage to the original, but not like a teen titans go reboot like how Boom originally was.
Now I love Boom because they went along with the drug, so… I pretty much agree with your ranking. Jim’s Robotnik is more Goofy Eggman than the Mad Doctor Ivo, who is rare to see nowadays except in the older comics and IDW sometimes.
You haven't figured out the genius of Mike Pollock's impression of Doctor Eggman.
19:07 It actually makes sense story wise. Eggman mentions at the start of this level that the military is trying to find his base so he goes of his way to deal with them. Later on when Tails breaks into the base he fights the GUN robots first (because they are still trying to enter it) and Eggman robots later on. That's one of many subtle things that make SA2 so great :-DD
That's probably Sonic Adventure 2's biggest flaw. It's story, while probably the best in the series, isn't told very well at all. All the character motivations make sense when you have all the details. They're all there, but very easy to miss. Unless you made the connection between that line Rouge says about Shadow's memories possibly being fake and Amy triggering his real ones at the end of the game, you'd never know why shadow didn't remember maria's true wishes sooner. It's like Minecraft's crafting system. You have to consult the wiki to make use of it.
You missed out not including the comics. The Sonic the Comic version of Robotnik is pretty good.
I've enjoyed everything I've seen of him, I'm just not sure how to quantify each run of him on the list.
Definitely would make the top 10 much more quality.
I agree but you had IDW one who is more close to the one we knows with the little more of badassery.
Fleetway one who is more maniacal.
And Archie's one who is literally the most convoluted of all.
Just a side note: sonic rivals actually canonically takes place before sonic free riders, so Metal Sonic is still not under the doctor’s control anymore. So the collected data is not accessible to eggman. Other than that, I think you did a great job with this video.
Thanks for the list Squidward
Gonna share this vi with my bro in Switzerland, cause tbh Jim as Eggman is a no thanks, I can't believe people love him as Dr.Eggman (Ivo Robotnik for Americans)
Also, my favorite Eggman is the Adventure, GBA, etc guy.
again, such a great video, long but worthy of watching it!
3:19 - He tried that once actually. In the Sonic Blast’s backstory, Eggman tried to shoot Sonic in his sleep with a laser… and missed only to hit a nearby Chaos Emerald, splitting it four ways. With Sonic awake and a Chaos Emerald’s power ready for the taking, he shifted gears to just seeking the one emerald and gunning for world conquest with it. Sonic and/or Knuckles beat him to the punch on all four fragments, busted into his stronghold, and used the lone Emerald’s power to take him down in the good ending final boss.
Still better than Eggman putting Sonic to sleep and just stealing his shoes for Sonic Labyrinth.
Do a list of shadow's appearance ranked
Sonic X I watched without censorship as a kid in French, so I was luky I guess.
But despite of that he is right, a lot of scenes are much better in the games than in that cartoon (anime whatever who cares)
I thank you for this excellent reviews, gonna say I was surprise of seen Pingas guy as a good Eggman but lol.
Oh yeah,I won't call hm "Robotnik" I learned Eggman since as little, I'm not american btw.
He probably had to get passed tons of robots in his mech.
There were a few disagreements here and there with things like particular placements, thoughts on who the character should be and Mike Pollock having the complete inability to play a menacing Eggman, they are still your opinions and I greatly respect him.
In general, I think a good Eggman balances his comedic nature and his menace. I don't think I guy called Eggman should be taken seriously all the time but I still think he should be someone seen as a major threat due to his supreme intellect and terrible influence on the world if gone unchecked. Any movement into mostly comedic or even mostly serious doesn't feel quite right to me for Eggman.
Overall I would say out of the main cast of characters in most stories of the 2010's, Eggman (while having his own problems) is probably the best of them since I still at least get some enjoyment from his character unlike the others.
Great list! I personally disagree with some takes (especially regarding Sonic Movie and Sonic X) but it was fun watch regardless ^^
As for Mike Pollock inability to play serious Eggman I'd say that Sonic Forces is a wrong example because Eggman is largely underplayed in this whole game. But even then some of his lines are good and threatening. If you wanna hear really good Mike Pollock tho I would recommend Sonic & Tails R. It's a fan made audio drama but features many official actors! It starts kinda slow but it's worth watching and Mike absolutely SHINES as Eggman in the three last episodes :-DD
The intro line is actually when neo metal sonic is disguised as eggman lol
(1:24:04) I remember a joke about this line from a long time ago in those old Sonic Shorts videos that Sonic Paradox made. It's this one bit where SatAM Robotnik watches the clip and is so disgusted by it that he goes out of his way to send missiles THROUGH DIMENSIONS to blow up 4Kids headquarters.
Thank you for making me aware of this short's existence, got a good laugh out of it
49:06 Waluigi's not motivated by money, the only time I can really think of where it actually _is_ a character motive for him (across all games) is in the M&S 2012 story mode, and its because he wants to repair his toys that Metal Sonic broke, as an excuse to pair him up with Wario and fight Eggman.
They give Waluigi a reason to work with Wario because M&S does something actually right for Waluigi's character, where he actually has different motives and methods from Wario, and doesn't automatically team up with him for no reason. This alleviates criticisms that Waluigi is just another Wario by actually taking the time to make them distinct, while also contrasting them with the mario bros by not automatically assuming they'd team up without a second motive-
erm, sorry. Waluigi in M&S is kind of a rant trigger for me. I guess I'll get my other thoughts on what you said all into one comment...
I guess a decent reason why they wouldn't have paid Wario is because Wario would have beaten the shit out of Eggman for not paying him, meaning he's a much riskier person to pay off than rouge and probably would have similar results. He clearly doesn't think Wario/Waluigi are very competent in 2012.
Rouge beats up Eggman and Bowser for not paying her as well, so imagine if that was Wario instead. I'm pretty sure Eggman would ACTUALLY die, and if he lived Wario would probably track him down until he is dead, like he does in 2012.
Assuming this is the logic here, it would be nice if they had actually shown that. Maybe in a scroll or something, idk.
48:20 ...but he outran Sonic... and you had even said so earlier. My headcanon was that Eggman was doing something related to the speed shoes in those scenes. Either way, it doesn't strain believability much that he's here. It's actually tame compared to when the same game allows Sonic to compete in the swimming events (with a life jacket because they didn't forget) and the fact that Waluigi holds the default world record for the shooting event in 2012 wii (a game where Shadow is also playable).
(I REFUSE to believe that the last one isn't an in-joke, considering gun Waluigi was a part of his render for the game as well and Shadow/Waluigi have a shared victory animation in 2016 with seemingly no other strong connection)
I think that a purely comedic Eggman works well in the context of these games, since the plot basically HAS to be about Eggman and Bowser teaming up to stop the Olympic games. Personally I'd always thought that Eggman was portrayed as more menacing and competent than he needed to be for this plot about the fucking olympics. There's a specific series of scrolls in 2010 DS about the shy guys and the chao where they talk about going on a journey to find food or something, but then they get scammed by Eggman and are forced to enact in his plan for no pay or food, and the running story thats shown throughout the game just ends so abruptly with no conclusion after they get scammed by Eggman. It's bleak, but it's also funny the way its handled.
I much prefer the approach to be a sort of Dr. Doofenschmirtz type villain over something like modern sonic's Eggman. Cause M&S eggman is a decently competent and threatening villain with petty and silly motives, whereas modern sonic's Eggman gets clowned on through every interaction and isn't taken seriously by the protagonists.
48:50 "Everything was just a big misunderstanding". Thats a pretty shallow-minded perspective on what's going on here. If Eggman's sole motivation for villainy in this game is because he didn't get an invite to the olympics, and the invite for the olympics was lost in the mail, it doesn't mean that everything's just a "happy little accident". It means that the true villain of Mario and Sonic at the 2012 olympic games is the London postal service.
But the London postal service is merely a pawn, in service of a villain far larger and more menacing than any other sonic villain...
London itself.
Don't you see? This is just like the traditional post-adventure Eggman plot, where he tries to take control of an ancient evil and gets betrayed. However, the ancient evil in M&S 2012 3DS is British Society itself, a being so uncontrollable that Eggman has no choice but to accept defeat once the beast he attempts to control reveals its true nature, and that it had betrayed him from the very start. Unlike perfect chaos, and all the other ancient evils, Sonic can't just swoop in to defeat Britain. The story is only resolved once the characters accept that British society will always exist, and theres no defeating that.
If we have the mindset that British society is an ancient evil that Eggman seeks to control, it means Eggman genuinely has a plan to control the ancient evil which is more than something like Sonic Unleashed Eggman gets. Hence, more genuine competency from Eggman in these games
Also, Bowser gets shafted WAAAY harder than Eggman. He does basically nothing, and the entire main plots of both 2010 and 2012 are basically just Eggman plots. I attribute all these plans to Eggman, because Bowser has about as much presence here as he does in Subspace Emissary. If this were a video ranking Bowser's appearances, I'd still treat him the same way. The writers seem to hate Bowser almost as much as they hate London, and they're only together because the plot needs it.
But almost every other character that I have issues with is improved in these games imo, and that means Eggman has a lot more interactions with great versions of each character in M&S. Personally, I think the tricksters episodes of 2012 3DS might be the greatest cutscene in video games as a whole, but that's a completely separate topic. Eggman and Wario's interaction is great in that game.
Compare this to Sonic Colors, where the cast is composed of annoying, flanderized Sonic and useless, flanderized Tails. Then look back at Mario and Sonic, where theres the Waluigiscopes cutscene. Then Sonic Colors again, who have orbot and cubot just there to give Eggman someone to talk to while being unfunny. Then back at Mario and Sonic, where Eggman is trying to take over the olympics because society betrayed him.
In conclusion, speaking as the only guy who would ever see this video and think "I need to make a multi-page rant about the Mario and Sonic at the Olympic games segment!", I don't think Mario and Sonic's Eggman deserves to be below Sonic Unleashed and Colors. The only point against it that I agree with is the Bowser interaction, but I'd say thats more of an issue with Bowser, plus the game has other interactions with Eggman that I like (Wario). He's one of the better takes on comedic Eggman, and I don't really see any other reason he's below Unleashed Eggman. Aside from 2016 and 2020, but I don't think those games really deserve my conscious thought, or to drag down the ranking of an otherwise perfectly fine version of Eggman.

I guess why you didn't explain comic Robotnik, because explaining Archie's one is literally convoluted. VERY convoluted. So much it could take an entire video. Same for Fleetway's version. IDW one sticks more to the one we knows.

@@VillainousWarlord What if viewers want to watch a specific part? Then with time stamps, they wouldn't have to worry about missing the beginning of their favorite part(s).
Well, your prayers seem to be answered
I think a big problem in sonic games is that they rarely build on older material and rely too heavily on the same formula (which is common for Nintendo.)
Sonic wins and eggman always loses, so its mostly pointless to make eggman threatening in a business stand point and more logical for studios to make him a mechanic to demonstrate the studios skill, rather than a build him as a character.
The sonic movie however was mostly aimed at demonstrating realistic graphics like detective pikachu. The main reason it lacked depth story wise was because it was vastly underdeveloped and rushed. This is probably due to the movie's cgi being expensive and time constraints. The share holders probably got hasty and demanded a trailer only to find a sanic lookin thing, so Nintendo gave the movie studio a stimulus to prevent the movie from flopping.
Modern game design is still getting to grips with story telling and implementing a better social doctrine. However Nintendo is abit of a traditionalist, so it will depend on Nintendo's leadership whether the sonic series survives.
That is why i would say SatAM Robotnik is written so well. There he has the most unique story where he has already taken over mobius unlike in any other game or show

Can you rank every metal sonic since you did eggman
“Sonic’s other villains” was teased at the very end. I’d be up for a Metal Sonic video, but despite how cool of a character he is, he comes up a bit short for a big-time ranking by sitting out the adventure games, the majority of the cartoons, and a good chunk of the racing games.
Wow! Fantastic gaming!! Do you live on Facebook?
What’s your opinion on sonic frontiers’ eggman
He does nothing incompetent or stupid which means it would technically place higher, but I'm not personally a tremendous fan. I find the concept of Eggman making a family member very awkward, I don't see why he would make her specifically be a human instead of another more robot-like robot like all the others. It brings up very awkward questions.
The lack of screen time also significantly holds it back. I'm also a fan of villainous characters doing villainous things, and Eggman is largely just a spectator in the events of the game.
@@VillainousWarlord ok
I disagree with unleashed Eggman’s placement. Super Shadow survived falling from space not just shadow. Even then Eggman saved Shadow and he was in such a bad state to lose his memory. In this game Sonic was saved by Chip and Eggman regrets not grabbing the Chaos Emeralds not his way of killing Sonic. He makes a machine to unite Dark Gaia’s fragments and kidnaps the one person who knows of the Gaia manuscripts and gave him with bad food. He also opens up a hole to the Earth’s core which should’ve killed Sonic but platforms were floating for some reason. I also like seeing him get excited when Dark Gaia shows up. “Yes. YES Dark Gaia…” he tries to command it but his commands are just to kill Sonic which it tries to do anyway the stupid one here is Dark Gaia not Eggman.
The issue is that Eggman had no strategy to get this giant creature to obey him. Sure, he was probably gonna attack Sonic because it’s a malicious monster, but Eggman didn’t know that Dark Gaia wouldn’t just nuke the entire world with Eggman still on it.
Hell, if Eggman found a way to fire Sonic’s body *away* from the Earth, he’d be golden.
@@BlusterTheBenevolent What was his plan with the other ones. Shadow: I will grant you one wish. Chaos: Make it strong and hope for the best. Metal Sonic: Not program him to obey. The only one he actually had a plan to control as far as I know where the deadly six. In this game Eggman didn’t even plan to confront Dark Gaia he just wanted to use it as a power source from a safe distance, that’s how he got the Egg Beetle and the Egg Dragoon.
@@Jlopezocasio So, if he wanted to use it as a power source, would freeing it and letting it spread havoc really contribute to his cause? It seems like having the monster be awake and causing a ruckus would make it harder to drive power from than if it was still sealed away or whatever.
@@BlusterTheBenevolent In the intro we see Dark Gaia not being able to support its own weight because it was woken up too early. So Eggman uses his tech to make Dark Gaia “Whole and complete” instead of waiting for it to do so on its own for thousands of years.

Boom eggman is freaking awesome
do have a video of Dr Eggman cartoons rank from Best to worst not just the video games.
It’s effectively just...
1. SATAM

@@sethcarlow8363 Aw, why thank you! You too.
15:25 SatAM Robotnik has more of a backstory than that. Mobius (the world that the show takes place in) is Earth in the distant future where the humans are dead and the animals have evolved. Robotnik and Snively were on a space expedition when the nuclear war happened. and since he’s a human supremacist, he believes he’s above the animal people so he wants to enslave them.
If i did a ranking from all the ones i remember it from best to worst it shall go

25. Shadow the hedeghog
26. Forces
Why rank them from best to worst instead of from worst to best
They were more negatives to talk about than positives, and I think those were the more entertaining sections of the video
I have what is probably a very dumb question. My son loves Sonic and I wanted him to have a chance to play Sonic Adventure. I loved your video review on Eggman. Those were the games in Sega Dreamcast, correct? Thanks for any feedback.
Glad you enjoyed it so much! Yes, Sonic Adventure was originally on Dreamcast, but the easiest way to get it today would probably be to make a steam account and buy it for PC.
We don’t have a PC available for gaming (both home computers are used for work), but if we got him a Sega Dreamcast, we saw Sonic Adventure used on Amazon. We just wanted to make sure that is the system that operates the Sonic Adventure games. Eggman looks amazing in those games. So he is good if we got him a Dreamcast system?
@@stevenrubin9048 A Gamecube or a Dreamcast, whichever floats your boat.
I don’t know anything about either system. If it were for you or you were buying it for a 13-year old kid that loves Sonic, which system would you recommend?
Dreamcast doesn't have much kids would want to play besides Sonic, it died very early into its lifespan. Get a Gamecube, it has the Sonic Adventure titles (Sonic Adventure DX: Director's Cut and Sonic Adventure 2 battle), and more games aside from those.
My favotie robonik is satam
We always thought he took the Eggman name to rubs it into sonic face if he took over the world or beats Sonic. Like think about it, Robotnik beats Sonic and Sonic will have to deal with the fact the Dr. Eggman won and can now take over the world
48:58 It's the 2010 Olympic Winter Games not 2012, that was the London Olympic Games.
i think eggman is actualy faster than sonic and probably via comic reference on par with phyisical strength and he only doesent want to use effort so thats why robots
Oh my gosh, thank you. I thought I was the only one who lost all hope for the movie (I watched it anyway tho lol) once I heard Jim was playing eggman. Because, after watching it, no, I can confirm he was not playing Eggman, he was just playing himself. He took one of my favorite antagonists in gaming and turned him into some kind of sick mockery by just stealing his name and really doing nothing else robotnik or eggman would do. The only thing in common other than the name is the fact that they both want to capture sonic. All I hope for is a slightly, even just SLIGHTLY more eggman-like eggman in the movie sequel. While the first movie was, in my opinion, pretty bad (because NOTHING happens (why did that bar fight scene last like 20 minutes...???)), I would still say that that version of eggman singlehandedly ruined the film. If eggman was anything more like the robotnik from SAT/AM Sonic, he could have singlehandedly made the movie worth it, even WITH sonic flossing and those terrible product placements. (Still can't believe they did those things... lol.)
After watching the trailer for it, here's hoping for a more serious, redeeming sequel! With Frontiers on the way as well, I'm really hoping 2022 is a year of redemption for the franchise.
The trailer for the sequel looks like a huge improvement over what we got previously, looking more like a legitimate Sonic movie as opposed to a generic Hollywood version of Sonic in the real world. I know it's just a trailer, but I'm also impressed that this is probably the most seriously Knuckles will be portrayed in over 15 years, too.
Just wish they started with this movie. I guess they feel that Robotnik is too much of a "cartoon" with his default appearance and wanted to explain it, but is it really that much more silly than the premise of CGI hedgehogs running around in real life?
@@VillainousWarlord (Since I'm sitting here rambling and talking to myself because this video got me on the topic of this subject, I'll keep this comment short lol)
I think my favorite appearences of him can be branched into three different categories. You're got A: Super serious robotnik/eggman, where he's displayed as a deep, dark villain with super evil plots and typically no remorse for any of his actions. Then you have C: The polar opposite, and a complete clown. A super cartoonish eggman who makes stupid decisions and can't do anything right and never learns from his mistakes. Then you have B: A perfect middle ground between the two; this is typically who you would think of when someone says "Eggman".
Now that I got that out of the way, I can explain who my favorites are and why, because I simply can't place one appearance over the other if they fit two totally different categories, it just wouldn't be right. For me, it's all about the setting he's put into and what the creators were going for. If he fits, it works.
Evil: I really like Adventure 1 & 2 eggman for this. But I think my two favorites are SATAM and 06. SATAM Robotnik is so purely evil, his level of intimidation by just being in the same room as him makes him high on my list. I watched another video last week about humans in sonic games and it stated that 06's design was the most divisive. I can see why, but I think for what they were going for, he's almost perfect. I personally love the design, he doesn't look too cartoony or too realistic.
Cartoony/Evil Mix: Since this one is more broad, it's hard to say who I like the most, but Shadow's version is pretty okay.
Cartoony: AOSTH Robotnik, no questions asked. Yeah, "pingas" plays a part in me loving this version, but I personally just gravitate towards TV shows of more cartoony nature (you know, breaking laws of physics and whatnot. I grew up with Ed Edd n Eddy, so you can kinda get where I'm coming from). I just love his voice though. If I could sit down and have dinner with any of the eggman/robotnik versions, it'd easily be this one. Or... Then there's Sonic Boom's. Yeah, he's a joke. Yeah the show was made around the era where the franchise knew it was a joke. But again, the show knew what it was aiming for and nailed it, I think. My favorite thing about this eggman is that he's so casual with sonic and everyone else in the show. I love that he and sonic just act like roommates who are always annoyed at eachother. Basically frenemies, I love it lol.
Well, he's pretty good in the sequel. Not like game eggman but he's good. I think he's one of the scariest version of robotnik because he's actually insane. He almost killed sonic and his "parents". If it wasn't for the chaos emeralds they would be dead now.
35:40 Edwin neal would be better as his robotnik looks like the classic one. Or maybe Garry Chalk? Cummings would be out of place and distracting.
So, nothing on the Eggman who has an A.I. Daughter named Sage?
Video was made before it exists, or Sonic Prime.
I'll probably play Eggman catch up at some point whenever the next giga video finishes.
Shadow did not survive the fall from space in Sonic Adventure 2. Every other Shadow appearance is a clone like in Team Dark's ending of Sonic Heroes.
Here is the Eggman quote from the Devil Doom fight that I was referring to during the video.
"Shadow... can you hear me? This might be the last chance I have to speak to you so... what I said about having created you... it was all a lie... everyone thought you died during that horrible incident... but I rescued you with one of my robots... you lost your memory that's all... you really are the ultimate lifeform my grandfather created!"
SA1 is best eggman
Jim Carry's interpretation is threatening, but it is masked behind the egotistical and narcissistic nature of the character. You have to read between the lines to understand just how dangerous he actually is.
FINALLY, FINALLY, SOMEBODY SAID JIM CARRY SUCKS AS EGGMAN!!!!
Yeah, he is Jim and not Eggman, how much I don't like the movies for that is too Hollywood crap!
I don't care if Americans said this is a great game movie, well is not!
I'm gonna say the second movie is a bit better than the first one but Jim as Eggman NO THANKS.
Hoping the third movie they gonna give us the Eggman we know.
Jim Carrey is a good parody of Eggman but not a good potrayal.
Man I love the video concept but you gatta up your audio quality
Eggman was only a good Villain in Sonic Adventure 1-2
Decent in Sonic 1-3, Sonic CD
Comedic in Adventures of Sonic The Hedgehog
A Waste of a Sonic-Villain in the other Games and TV-Shows
Deem Bristow is the only good Eggman Voice-Actor
Does Jim Carrey count
Evidently, yes
Dr eggman has always been very active in almost every Sonic game I don't get why you think adventure is the one that he is the most active in heck you fight him most of the time in Sonic 1 and 2 I don't get why adventures the crying Jewel here?
There are no cutscenes in the classic Sonic titles, he is just a video game boss in those games. I'm not insulting the games, but it is hard for me to not prefer a more elaborated on version of the character.
He has more screen time in Sonic Adventure than in any other game, and I like what he does when he is on screen in that game.
#0 Fandub Eggman
Which one, though?
@@BlusterTheBenevolent All of em
the best one in my opinion is the sonic adventure 2 eggman, why? because he pisses on the moon. like how evil is that?
No way is the Sonic X Dr Eggman one of the worst! In fact he should easily be in the top 5.
your explanation of why Movie Robotnik is the worst is very weak honestly, it's very petty. I know this was over a year ago and opinions may have changed, I feel like you structured that one in particular very poorly.
If you are interested, there is a follow up video based on Sonic 2, because this video was made before Sonic 2. I'm still not a particularly big fan of him in Sonic 1.
Ironically enough Jim has stated he wants to wear the fatsuit and go full on Eggman
Forces Eggman deserved way higher
Hmph! I don't agree with your opinions on Dr. Eggman in this video, I like everything about Dr. Eggman in these games and the shows too, if you got a problem with him in some of these games and shows, you should've just go along with it rather than complaining about it.
Lord forbid people dislike things
People have opinions too u idiotic fanboy. Doesn't matter what u think its his video
