    Saved me tons of money with this video and with a little common sense to get me past the few things that were difficult (front line connects and the carbon canister connects, mine are different than shown) I am back up and running after 6 hours of labor in the driveway for under $300. Local estimates with a cheap knock off pump with no warrant ranged from $900-$1400 and $1800 from the Dealer. From me, my wallet, and my 2002 Avalanche a great big Thank You for the video.

    My Pump failed again so I cut a door in the floor, made some cool brackets that hold it all back down and im good to go, now if that thing goes out again, it literally takes me 30 minuts, I just have to take out the seat on that side, pull the carpet back, take the brackets off and open the door. POOF! yukon denali by the way. This pump seems much better.

    Terrific Video. I have a 2002 Avalanche and after filling up yesterday, my fuel gauge went from F to E about 30 seconds after I pulled away. My Low Fuel light has remained on since then. I know that I have a full tank of gas, so I believe it's the fuel sensor. Would I have to purchase and install a fuel pump/sensor combination to correct this issue? Or does the fuel pump even have to be replaced?

    I live in a rust state and I am having fits trying to get the lines disconnected above the crossmember at the front of the tank. I have contemplated cutting the lines and running new, but that doesn't seem like a great option either. I know they are the push connections but am working blind and there is dirt in the slide action. I have it soaking with WD40 right now and will try again in the morning. Any insight you can provide is appreciated.

    After installing this exact part in our 2003 Avalanche, the gas gauge isn't working properly. It's actually working backwards, so when I put gas in it, the needles goes to E, but empty is actually at 3/4 mark. Found out the hard way! So what could this be?

      You probably put the float on the wrong side of the pump so it works backwards. Only fix is to remove pump and correct it.

    would not disconnecting the battery ruin up the new fuel pump?

    According to the video you disconnected the fuel lines before partially lowering the tank or and before removing the carbon canister. How did you access them? This seems difficult to reach on either side.

      ***** That would be a good thing to add to the video, show where and how he gets to them, I am not finding enough room to get my arm in there. Looks like the best place to try to reach it is the outside front of the tank. But even then I was only able to release one of them the other was orientated such that I could reach one side of the clip but not the other a steel plate was in my way. I ended up lowering the back of the tank and going in from the inboard side, Detaching the lines where they attach to the fuel pump instead of the front of the tank, then detaching the line clip in the center of the tank. GM really made this unnecessarily difficult which is not airtex's fault.

      +Robert H The video is good and bad at the same time. The people watching this to learn likely don't have a lift and are working in the driveway where you can't "easily" access those lines.

    • @irhutch007
      @irhutch007 Před 8 lety

      +nickma71 That would be me, I did not have a lift. I mentioned it because I found partially lowering the rear of the tank and getting the the line on the inboard side helped me.

    Not bad, but for the money being a corporate video I expected more like addressing the tools needed for the quick disconnects you show them just popping off. They can be a real bugger or simple... and it wasn't noted that you drained the tank at all. It would sure be a mess disconnecting the filler and vent w/o adequately draining might cause a huge mess or flammable situation.
